"Right." Quietly, Aden made his way onto one side of the field. He had a ball ready, noticing the pager Whitney took out. So that's how they called the refs...

As Aden found his way onto the field, I found my way onto the stands, nearby Ryan. "Sorry, we're late. Kind of got caught up in something." I cracked.
As I got myself comfortable, the ref made his announcement. "This is a official Pokemon League match against the Goldenrod City Gym leader, Whitney, holder of the Plain Badge. Challenging her is Aden from Agate Village of the Orre Region. This will be a 3 on 3 battle in singles format. The challenger is free to switch his Pokemon from the field at any time. The leader is not. Victory is decided if either combatant has no more Pokemon or one combatant submits. Now, begin!"
"I think I'll lead this off with this!" she said, taking out a Pokeball. "Get to it! Go get him, Girafarig!"
"Of course, Whitney wasn't going to use the same team as last time..." I said. "Except for maybe that Miltank of course. Already trying to throw Aden off."

This would lead to Aden having a confused look on his face, his mind wanting to know what the heck that thing was. A... giraffe? With a head on its tail? Oooookay then.
"So much for hoping for some similarities... alright, Raticate, let's go!" He called, tossing the ball to let the rat out.

"Well of course not. That would become predictable. And yeah. When Aden gets to her last pokemon, I will be shocked to see anything other than that cow of her's." Ryan comments. Finally, some action. "Although, I think Aden is in for rude surprise with Girafarig." he adds.

"This will be a battle between Girafarig and Raticate! Begin!" The ref shouted.
"Alright! Go, Girafarig! Use Agility!" she shouted. The Girafarig focused, its body relaxed, then in a flash, it appeared right behind the Raticate with a loud squeal.
"Yea, it's going to be a issue, for sure, if Aden isn't ready for it..." Upon seeing the Agility though, I stared in confusion. "Well, already, starting off similarly to the last fight. Whitney pulls some sort of status ploy...but...this is awkward. What in...?"

"Agility- huh, where'd it go!?" To Aden, he saw Girafarig on one side of the field. Then, all of a sudden, it was between him and where Raticate was standing. The squeal made both of them jump a good few feet in the air, with Raticate turning around upon landing.
"The heck!?"
"(It can whoosh faster than me...)"
"Raticate, now's not the time! Quick Attack!"
In an effort to try and handle this speedy terror, Raticate tried to strike just as fast, lunging at Girafarig at once.

Whether or not Ryan was right or Whitney was trying to shine as a gym leader was anyone's guess. What we all would soon would find out was that a speedy terror of a Girafarig would be the least of anyone's worries. As soon as the quick attack lands, the Girafarig would stumble back a bit, but nothing that it couldn't shake off.
"Alright, Girafarig, talk to you later! Baton Pass!" Whitney shouted.
"Wait! What!?" I shouted.
With a playful squeal the Girafarig was brought back into its Pokeball in a burst of chi that apparently was lingering around in the field. The display behind the ref showing Whitney's and Aden's current line up grayed out the Girafarig's picture for the time being. "Some rules can be bent, after all, Aden." she said.
"Can't they..." I remarked silently.
"Alright! You're up! Snorlax!"
Upon the field a massive Pokemon hits the field and upon seeing that behemoth, my heart skipped a beat. "Oh no."

"Speeds in, switches out... this is the Violet Gym all over again." Aden commented. Stupid U-Turn tactic. Though he was eating his words, what with Raticate just being taught that. The good part was no damage taken... but with what came next, that was the least of his worries.
"Suddenly, I want the Miltank back..." He said, gulping. This was going to suck badly in the next five seconds. "At least that one didn't look like a mountain of death. Raticate?"
"(Yeah....?)" Seeing this towering thing made Raticate wonder if there was such a thing as mercy in this world.
"I think you might want to stand up just a little here."
"(How?)"
"Scary Face."
Raticate just turned to look at Aden. Look frightening to the very thing that probably made the other 25% of trainers entering the gym cry for their mothers? Kinda a tall order.
But he'd try anyway. Spinning around, he bared his fangs and gave the most intimidating glare he could muster.

"Yea, I think he best start praying..." I said to Ryan. "You have to do better than that to give my Snorlax the shivers, Aden! Snorlax! Mega Kick!" she shouted. With a hefty groan, the Snorlax rushed across the room like a bullet and when it made it to the Raticate, he went to give it the boot. It wouldn't help Aden's cause that Raticate looked like a football a bit.

Oh, he wanted to turn away and not watch what was about to happen. He rather not see Raticate bits go flying across the Gym. But this was kind of like seeing an accident about to happen. you just can't turn away, even when you know that what happens next is going to suck...so bad.

Raticate had no way of getting away from that one fast enough. The poor rat took the harsh kick and went flying, crashing into a wall. Things were already off to an extremely bad start.
After seeing the field goal from hell, Aden looked like he could've crapped enough bricks to form a small house. "Oh dear god..." Yeah, if he thought Miltank was bad, that cow was nothing. This Snorlax was the true harbinger of nightmares, and at this rate, he'd be seeing yet another rematch before long.
"Gotta get this thing down a few notches... Raticate, can you keep going at all!?" He asked. Raticate looked like he wanted to know the number of the truck that just plowed his face in, footing a bit unstable, but thankfully for Aden, he was still on his feet.
"In that case, level the playing field! Endeavor!"
In an effort to keep that Snorlax from mopping the floor with his team, he had Raticate go for the last resort in a hurry. Having taken the insane damage from earlier, he used what strength he had to try and bring Snorlax down to his level with a similarly harsh attack.

The Snorlax tilted his head, staring in confusion as the rat went for retaliation. It didn't even think that such a small thing could do any sort of damage, especially in the condition that it was in. But it would soon learn even its huge girth was no match for a desperation attack of that sort. "Holy hell, Aden, you have learned well." I said, not really expecting him to hear, but MY GOD, Aden was still in this after all. The Snorlax toppled over, a bit then manages to sit back up, but it felt horrible from such an attack, giving a frustrated groan, and pushing itself back up, slowly but surely. "Oh wow...you are full of surprises." Whitney said. "Snorlax! Use Body Slam!" It moved its heavy girth rapidly once more, rushing over then went to flop down on the tiny rat.

Truth be told, Aden really didn't hear. He was too much in shock from his tactic proving useful. But with that belly flop about to make a rat pancake, maybe he should keep a bit careful. But not without risks; where'd be the fun otherwise? Regardless, he got another ball ready. "Now, Raticate, get out of there! U-Turn!"
Calling an attack that was learned no more than ten minutes ago? Probably not the best idea, even if a TM considerably sped up the learning process. But it helped that it played on Raticate's more agile movements, as well as the simple fact that having half a ton about to fall on you was a strong motivator.
Leaping to get another hit in, he bounced off Snorlax's falling stomach and started fleeing back to the ball he was usually kept in. But not without making a comment on the way.
"(Bye now, nothing to do here!)"
