>_<

I hatehatehatehatehate people who want to censor the Internet "For The Children" (tm).

I am proof that the Internet does not make you a violent, sexually perverted antisocial dredge of society. As for the Internet making kids masturbate or look at porn: pick up, "Our Bodies, Our Selves".

However, if these idiots keep insisting on censoring the Internet from we wee tots, I would rather the Internet just be entirely unavailable to minors. I'd rather not have the Internet than make it suck for everyone over the age of eighteen. Better to make it like booze, illegal until you're 21, than mess it up just so eight year olds can play flashgames on Disney's website while Mommy (or Daddy) does laundry.

I agree. The internet should not be censored. It's probably the only place where peopel from every country can say what ever the hell they feel like, and not get in trouble for it. Parents are supposed to watch what their kids do on the internet.

These are the types of people who shouldn't have had kids. If they're not going to watch them and keep them safe, by monitoring their internet usage, they shouldn't have bought a ******** computer. They need to teach their kids about not giving out personal information, blocking pornographic, violent and republican sites, teaching their kids about physical computer safety (ie. using the right chair, taking a break after 15 minutes etc) and tell them what happens if things go wrong.

My mother drilled this stuff into my head when we got the internet. I also learned a lot from my IT classes at school. I thought most of it was common knowledge. Apparently not.

Censor the internet? Wow.
THE INTERNET / TV / ETC IS NOT A
BABYSITTER.

What about the story of the kid who
committed suicide he was being "cyber bullied"?
When I read that article I was like... WTF? If I recall
correctly, most IM programs have a BLOCK BUTTON.
And if a kid killed himself over "cyber bullying" - I think
he had much more serious issues. I've dealt with a lot
of assholes online - one random girl went as far as to make a
whole website proclaiming how I "becam a lezbo" because
I "culdnt get guyz". I just showed it to my friends and laughed
at the utter stupidity of it. I've had people stalk my AIM screen
name - I just keep a large block list or change my screen name.
-shrug-

WTF? I'm listed as a non-member in this guild.

It says you're a member when I looked. That's weird.

@ Mipsy: I haven't tried their food, because it's always uber crowded when we go there. >__> But I love just walking around and staring at the pretty furniture. When I go off to college, I am SO raiding them of their "Living in [figure >2000] square feet" exhibit thingies.

In fact, I just finished building the hutch for my new desk. 4laugh So basically, my entire room is unrecognizable, because 1) I cleaned it (GASP!) and 2) I have some new furniture. whee Happy happy happy.

As for censoring the Internet...the only thing I can really say is, "Oh, please". My parents don't obsessively monitor what I do online, but they actually, truly trust me. They make sure they know what websites I frequent, and who I talk to via AIM and MSN Messenger. That's about it.

The problem is, most parents "trust" their kids. And in lots of those cases, said trust was misplaced. It doesn't really mean much anymore for parents to say "We trust you" or for kids to say "My parents trust me", because the parents of the notorious cases in which their kid was killed by someone they met online said "We trust our child".

I think the only reason my parents aren't incredibly wary of what I do is because they know I wouldn't give out personal information on the Internet, because they know I am freaking PARANOID. I seem to have the opposite of an immortality complex, a common idiocy in teens.

Hmm. It would seem, then, that it's not the Internet that's the problem. I wonder what it could be, then? There should be computer workshops especially for parents. "What to do Before Getting on the Intarwebs", "Which Plug to Pull when Porn Pop-ups Attack"... not really such a bad idea.

Cyanide Kitten: WTF? People actually make websites like that?

Yes; unfortunately. I really don't care what other people think of me at all -especially somebody who I do not know and uses a website bashing myself and my sexuality as an acceptable way of disagreeing with somebody.

I used to keep an Xanga to rant about various political and societal topics -ranging from gay marriage to abortion rights to trends to poverty to religious extremism to the education system to rape to feminism and so on. She apparently disagreed with the way I felt on some things and instead of carrying out a civilized debate or voicing her opinion in a polite or respectful manner, she took the time to make the website. Which she unfortunately later deleted as I thought it was quite humorous.

People have issues - but you can't punch people through the Internet (oh how I wish I could invent this technology) - so they just act obnoxious and idiotic and badass because they have their computer screen to protect them.

That was long. o______0

...wow. Not sure whether to laugh or cry at the stupidity. confused

Just wait. Eventually, someone will create a way to send electrical shocks through a computer. 3nodding

I'm not going to use the expressions feature on this account until they have the 'no mouth' option.

They're also making tattoos! I can't wait for that.

*looks down the t-shirts at Cafepress.com*

Haha, there was one with a coathanger on it, saying "South Dakota's New Medical Plan for the Young, Poor, and Raped."

And "Smile, Your Government is Watching."

"Adopt some children. Then you can tell me what to do, you JUDGEMENTAL HYPOCRITE."

"If I wanted to hear the pitterpatter of little feet, I'd put shoes on my cat."

"South Dakota HB 1215: The Rapists' Bill of Rights"

"Want Abortion Outlawed? How many unwanted children will YOU adopt?"

"May the fetus you save be a black gay wiccan democrat." xD

"Republicans want live fetuses so they can grow up to be dead soldiers"

Mannn..I wanna buy tshirts. xP
My personal favorite (and by favorite I mean "******** you!") was, "Your body is NOT your own."

The anti-choicer who wears that is the most honest one on the planet.

Rofl. I can imagine a lifer actually wearing that, and not even pondering the general consequences of it.

"Her body is not her own, it's her fetus's!"
