The Stranger Username: Saint Of Revenge Name of The Stranger: Agymah Name Meaning: He who leaves his home or community (Yes I was lame and picked a name to go with his background.) Prompt: 1
History: Agymah was once a proud father and loving mate in a small pride far from the Suka'Fumo lands. He lived a quiet life and was content to spend his days caring for his family but in the back of his mind, a small voice always whispered his need for more. The voice yearned for just a little bit of glory and the pride of doing something well. As the days turned to weeks he could no longer deny the voice. When his pride discussed a raid on an enemy pride, Agymah stepped forward and volunteered though he had no experience at combat. The pride denyed him at first, but he was adamant about going and eventually snuck along.
The attack was well planned and everything was going as planned - Agymah had gathered a few items as trophies and the pride had gathered the supplies they wanted. No lives had been taken though several injuries had been sustained between both prides until one of the lions in the other pride attacked Agymah. The battle was long and hard, leaving both lions weakened and severely injured. The white male would have died long ago had he not yearned to make it home to his family. When the chance presented itself, Agymah took the killing blow and ended the life of his enemy with a mighty twist of his teeth upon the other's neck.
He had to be helped back to the pride's lands for his front right paw had been broken and the tendons twisted. As the days went by and he slowly healed his leg, like his conscieous, never quite left him in peace afterward. His murder had stained Agymah's mind and had changed the male in significant ways. Where once before he had been an active member of the pride serving as a scavenger, Agymah became withdrawn from his pride. He became neglectful of started to neglect his mate and two cubs. The little males were hurt and confused by their father's actions. Themba, his mate, was the only one to know the resons behind his actions.
As the days went by, Agymah journeyed further and further away from the pride's lands, leaving his family to fend for themselves for days at a time. While he was off by himself, the pride was attacked in retribution for the raid that had happened a few weeks prior. The lioness who had been mated to the hunter Agymah fought and killed took the lives of his two cubs and mate in an act of cold revenge. When he finally came home, he found their bodies gone and was greeted with news that no lion should ever hear.
After grieving for a day, the white lion made the decision to leave his pride and never bring about any sort of hardship to anyone again. As he limped away, the pride watched him with sorrow and regret for his leaving. Agymah went into the rogue lands and stayed there for a long time, occasionally running into the odd lion or lioness but he never stayed close long.
Prompt: (While you were wandering the rogue lands, you noticed a group of lions traveling together. What brings you to the decision to follow this group? You may over-hear them talking about the pride, as the leader seems to know all about it, or there may be another reason entirely. Many of the lions seem distrustful towards you, and you're not sure you understand why. Explain your thoughts on why you're a quiet lion.)
Pain pierced every minute part of the male's body as he lay in the cooling shade of a large boulder. The scorching heat would have scoured the coloring out of his fur had he not already been almost the exact shade of the sparse clouds milling about above. These clouds did not offer any shade as they were wispy and only there due to the heat dehydrating the hard earth beneath his paws. The day was like most others, filled with the knowledge that Agymah could never bring back his family. (His brooding would have made the great Hamlet seem like merely a whiny man-child.)
He was distracted from his thoughts of drowning himself in the oasis not too far off by three voices raised in argument. With a frown, Agymah sat up but kept himself well hidden by his source of relief. He could easily identify two male voices and that of a female. It seemed as if the males were fighting over some sort of plan they were working on. As the trio came closer, Agymah could hear what they were saying more clearly. Chancing a glance from behind his rock he put bodies to the voices.
"-have to do this!" The golden lion snarled, bumping the smaller male. "We must seek revenge upon those who cast out my father. If we don't do this, his death will have been for nothing!"
Agymah had a bad feeling about the tone of this lion's voice. Something in him seemed a little to manipulative for the ex-pat's tastes. While in appearance he didn't resemble anyone he'd ever met, the older male felt as if this hot headed lion was a chimera of everything he hated in the pride he had abandoned and the one that bred the lioness that took away his family: proud arrogance from his home and hostile wrath from their enemies.
The verdant lion shook his head and grumbled, "But this is not something we should follow through on. This is not our fight and you should remember that. It's your father's and we should just let things be as they are."
The female nodded, "My brother speaks the truth - this isn't our battle, why should we choose to attack an innocent pride we know nothing of?"
He heard honesty and misgivings in the siblings' voices and he felt perhaps they were not beyond saving. If he could get to them in time, perhaps this whole mess could be averted and less blood would be shed for old vendettas. What was it in Africa that caused so many to act out the ancient tragedy of the Montagues and Capulets? With a weary sigh, he listened on.
The tawny male roared with rage and advanced upon the other two, clearly showing that he was the alpha and leader of the small group. With fangs bared he said, "Do not forget who your owe yourselves to! Do this one thing for me and I will release you from your debt but if you do not..." He paused to add menace to his words before continuing, "Instead of their families dying and suffering, it will be the two of you who suffer the wrath of my paw."
Agymah listened closely and he crouched low behind the boulder, waiting to hear the others response. It was a long time coming and the ivory lion was worried something had happened. Had the siblings been attacked? Would the golden lion lose himself so much that he would attack those he viewed as his minions?
When they finally spoke he was relieved, but only for a moment. A feeling of foreboding made every strand of fur stand on end and he prayed that the duo would be strong and stand against the one they so feared. His whiskers drooped with disappointment when he heard the response.
"We'll do as you ask." The female's voice was further away and very quiet so he knew they had traveled on in the moment of silence. "We'll help you infiltrate their pride, but we won't have blood on our paws."
With an almost inaudible grumble, Agymah rose to his paws. This was not his fight, but he wasn't going to let any innocent lives be surrendered for the vengeance of a single male who was gone. He didn't like what he heard and he was going to make sure that the trio did not succeed in their plans.
He would stay back and shadow the group hoping to speak to the leader of the pride they were going to assassinate. He would not speak until he was certain he could speak to the other in total confidence of not being overheard. Along the way he hoped to learn more of their plans so that he could further guard against their assault.

The Stubborn Username: Mogami Name of The Stubborn: Theseus Name Meaning: A powerful duke that represents order in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Prompt: A little bit of all 3
History: Theseus doesn’t have much of a history. In his younger days it was obvious he had inherited his parents’ prejudice, multiplied it by 10 and developed a violent way of dealing with the pride’s “undesirables” – they approved, of course, though they did ask him to try and keep his hobby quiet. The Rogue lands were harsh for the spoiled and selfish lion forcing him to hide his beliefs and join up with lions we’d rather avoid. And well… now he’s back. Prompt: The great purple lion stood at the entrance of a mountain den, looking down on the commoners that dwelled below with a thoughtful expression. Not that long ago he had sat in this exact same spot cursing their existence and taking every excuse to maim those foolish lions who failed to realize how very low they were… or simply those who showed signs that they were less they pleased with their duty to serve the higher class. Today, he had to admit he felt differently even if not the complete opposite of his younger days.
Theseus’ story after he left the Suka’Fumo is a short but bitter one. Unaccustomed to living on his own, the majestic lion was forced to compromise on his values and join a small group of lions (most completely devoid of the color purple). He did so grudgingly and was slowly forced to admit that all these lions’ beliefs, opinions and hopes were not that different from his own and worthy of some measure of respect. He fell in love with a non-purple lioness, a cheerful girl that spread warmth to those around her but it was not a great story of change and redemption, more one of missed opportunity and regret. She ended up committing to a different male (who ironically did have a small measure of purple in his coat) and they were immensely happy together and had a bunch of fat little cubs. Fate kept bringing Theseus and the happy couple together as if reminding him of what he could’ve had if only he had fought for it and the purple lion soon grew tired of Fate’s little games and decided to return to his pride and work his way to the top again.
He’s tired and certainly not getting any younger. He hopes to settle down in a place where he knows he’ll receive the respect he deserves and hopefully find a proper, respectful lady to raise a noble family. He brought two lions with him, one with a great deal of purple and girl with only hints of the noble color. They were his gift so-to-speak, silent proof that he’s not looking quite as much at the amount of purple on a lion’s coat but he got the impression that the King didn’t really see it that way. Which didn’t surprise him, of course, as he still sees Bwana as a youngster with little experience when it comes to reading others and managing a pride.
The purple lion snorted, eyes narrowing into two bright yellow slits. Though somewhat more moderate in his views, Theseus hadn’t lost his beliefs or prejudice. He still believed purple to be the color of nobility but his experiences have forced him to acknowledge that all lions have the right to live and that the absence of purple doesn’t necessarily mean they should be persecuted and injured and constantly “put in their place” – as he once did. They should, of course, respect the nobility and acknowledge their innate superiority. Hopefully, the pride rules haven’t changed as much as Bwana had had led him to believe on the first meeting. Sure, they had non-purple lions doing menial tasks and odd lions living in the forest – it’s not like any respectable lion would actually go there anyway. As long as there was order and respect for nobility, Theseus didn't mind it much.
But there were certain things that greatly annoyed the usually composed lion. The King received lions without a spot of purple with surprising joy into the pride. As if it wasn’t enough that Bwana had illegitimate offspring running around like they owned the place, the King had apparently adopted cubs without a trace of purple on their coats into his den, as well! It was mind-boggling. One of his dubious children was a real problem in the older lion’s eyes. A male. He had inherited a deep purple coat from Bwana but taken a role in a lower class – more suiting of his… tainted blood. But it still worried Theseus that an illegitimate son of the King was prancing happily around the pride. Bora-something. Yes, that was his name. His heritage so very obvious, he should’ve been culled at birth. Granted, Bwana’s children didn’t really seem to have enough purple but at least their blood was pure and they were receiving proper guidance from the ambitious Queen. But if anything were to happen to Bwana and his real cubs, the b*****d child could even earn enough support and rise to the throne. Or even without such a tragedy occurring, he was a dangerous loose end that could be used by mutinous spirits as a leader of a revolution. His very existence was a threat to the pride. Theseus would’ve killed the b*****d himself had he been present during his birth. And, of course, had he been asked to do it. But he seriously doubted Bwana had the strength to even consider making such a request. But the noble wouldn’t falter if his king changed his mind. Even now.
The great purple lion attempted to silence such thoughts, for they did nothing but worsen his mood. He grumbled under his breath, throat rumbling viciously at what his pride had become. Hopefully, he could help guide “young” King during these troubled times. Moderation wasn’t necessarily a bad thing… just as long as it wasn’t taken too far. And Theseus would be here to keep that from happening.
