Each of the images vanished, Scyther immediately bolting as Girafarig neared.
It was also at this point that Aden learned another trait about the species in particular. Namely, that they were really freaking fast, especially after an Agility boost. His jaw just dropped at the sight.
If he was moving that quick, though...
"Lack of power, but all that speed... Scyther, back to striking! Another Fury Cutter!"
Suddenly, Scyther came back beside Girafarig. Just long enough to send one of his scythes at it.

The next fury cutter attack, by basis would be weak as the first one, but with all that speed backing it did make it a bit flinch worthy. A squeal came from the Girafarig, making it stagger a bit. "Uh oh, Girafarig! Use Psybeam!" she shouted. The Girafarig turned and tried to blast the Scyther with its powerful shot, coming straight from its tail, peculiarly enough.

Even Scyther's newfound speed wasn't enough to evade the Psybeam, making him skid from the impact. The only thing that helped was the double-edged nature of Power Swap. While it was true that Girafarig had Scyther's strength, one couldn't say the same for the likes of special attacks.
It was a reprieve, but not much of one.
"Scyther, are you alright!?" Aden asked.
Scyther stayed on his knees for a second, panting as he got up. Judging by the glare he shot back, it was probably not the kind of question to be asking. Even if another attack or two like that was going to be a much different matter.
"Alright, alright, sorry... if you can, keep going!"
A huff seemed to escape the Pokemon before he zoomed ahead, approaching Girafarig for a third Fury Cutter.

Another slash came down, stronger than before and just as fast, making the Girafarig squeal out. The damage was going to add up immensely at this rate, something that Whitney couldn't afford. "Girafarig! Take Down!" she shouted. The Girafarig then rushed for the bug once more; another reckless tackle, and just as catastrophic if it lands.

It was at this point that Scyther might as well be deemed a candidate for improbable dodging skills, as he moved to the side to avoid the strike. He then punished Girafarig with yet another Fury Cutter.
"Um..." Aden? Well, he was a little shocked right now. And not just from Scyther obeying the last command.

Another slice, even stronger blow, a squeal of pain to follow. This Girafarig just couldn't keep up with this outrageous bug, let alone stand up to the super effective attacks one right after another. Even after being hindered, Aden's Scyther managed to fell the Girafarig there upon the gym floor. "Oh no, Girafarig!" Whitney shouted. "Well, hell, he actually downed it." I said. "But that leaves her...last one..." She recalled the fallen Girafarig. "Well isnt this a familiar sight, huh, Aden?" she said, taking out her final Pokemon. "Miltank! Go!" she shouted. Upon the field, the ball bursts open, revealing the final Pokemon. The nightmare of many newcomers. "Milllllaaa!!!" The cow called out, ready to fight once again.

"How...? Well, that's two, but that means..." Aden trailed off, gulping. And when he saw Whitney send out her Miltank, he knew this was going to suck. Scyther was already hurting bad, and still weakened otherwise... and Raticate was nearly done too.
To him, feeling a little dread was understandable. "I'm not going to like where this is headed, am I?" He asked himself. "Scyther, return for now! Raticate can take over."
Quickly, he recalled Scyther, knowing that all the boosts would likely be gone by the time he'd have to bring him back out. For now, he sent Raticate out, who still wasn't doing too well despite the rest. But if he didn't take a bit of a gambit, he knew he wouldn't make it here.

Whitney remembered something just then about the Raticate. She knew one thing that probably would of rain down on her Miltank's parade. It may be why that Aden switched to the Raticate so suddenly. She did have a way out in case that ever did happen, but she'd prefer not to go through such a ordeal.
"Alright! Go, Miltank! Put that rat down! Stomp!" she shouted.
"Milllaaa!" The Miltank started to rush off towards the rat. It was about to eat hoof.

"Raticate, now! Endure!" Aden called. He was not about to let that Miltank ruin him now, not when he was this far in the fight.
Raticate would be eating hoof, alright... though he braced himself for that impact, barely taking it and holding the hoof. Anything to keep it from squishing him.

The cow came down with its hoof and pressed down as hard as it could, but somehow this rat was managing to hold its ground. "Ohhhh, no you don't! Miltank! Use Body Slam!" she shouted. The Miltank quickly pulled is leg off and went to ram into the rat.

"If Raticate's going down, it won't be without this! Follow it up! Endeavor!" Aden countered at once. If he could get one decisive blow now, it might be his only chance.
With Raticate off to unleash the desperation attack, at the cost of whatever stamina he had left, Aden's only option was to really start appealing to the gods.

When the attack collided with Raticate, it was to Miltank's dismay that the Endeavor took its toll, for better or for worse. One wouldn't figure that after such a feat, the Miltank would look so pitiful right now. "Miltank!" Whitney shouted. "Are you okay!?" "Milll..." It moaned out.

Aden's jaw found its way to the floor a second time, in utter shock. Between watching what Miltank just took, followed by Raticate losing the last of his strength and passing out, it was hard to blame him.
"Now I see why dad keeps that Rattata..." He said, his voice a little low. Did he have a chance? He wasn't sure. He wouldn't put it past that Miltank to have some kind of means to recover. "Raticate, you did great. Scyther can take it from here. Return, alright?"
Recalling the fallen Raticate, he sent Scyther back into the fray. It was only going to get rougher from here.

If Aden thought it was going to be that easy with that Miltank, he had another thing coming. He would soon once again how adaptable Normal Types were. "Miltank! Milk Drink!" With a lustrous glow that shrouded it, its body started to heal. Granted, the Miltank is by no means 100%, it was in better condition than nearly ready to drop.

"I knew it, I freaking knew it...!" Aden had feared this would happen. But if Miltank did that, she'd pay in other ways. "Alright, Scyther, get ready. Focus Energy!"
Scyther took one look at the Miltank before him and sighed, preparing himself. Once he was ready, he rose both scythes in the air, holding them in a cross formation before he let them down.
