"We -have- that stuff?" Tails said. "And no one ever told me?" He glanced out the door, and one ear drooped. "It woulda been nice to know before the weather finally turned warm and wet enough for mud."

"Freth found out about it, not me. And we were gone when she DID find out about it." I told Tails.

"Aw. So, I guess..."

Tails stretched, back arced as he proceeded into the room. "We should waste less time wishing we knew about the room and more time playing with the room. And Tristen and his Pokemon."

"So what do I do?" Tristen then asked.

"Just listen for a minute." I said. "Before we go into it, I'm not trying to scare you, but when it comes to Pokemon training, Tails can tell you I can be a stern teacher. More of the hands on kind of guy because words can only do so much, as I have found it. Its going to be real tough, more than likely on you and your Pokemon, but just follow along and you'll do just fine. Alright?" I asked.

"O-okay..." Tristen said.

"Now, I need you to keep one other thing in mind." I said to him, kneeling down towards him. "There is something that has been taught to me, that I have told to Tails, as well. This is the number one thing, among all else, first and foremost, to remember."

"What's that?"

"Your Pokemon depend on you as you depend on them." I said to him. "As you trust in them to try to push through whatever fight, what ever challenge they face, they trust in you to lead them through it, be there for them. A mutual respect. Love even." I said.

"And I love my Muk~" Tails sang. "And Weavile's the only one who can keep up with me around here. He hates Muk though. I haven't exposed Casform directly to Muk yet. It's probably for the better."

"At any rate. Lets start with the basics. How about you bring out one of your Pokemon. How about Natu?" I asked.

"Um. Ok." He pulled out a Pokeball and gave it a bit of a toss. With a flash a light, the ball lets go the tiny bird.

"Natu natu." The bird spoke.

"Alright, let me ask you this much. Have you picked up on ANYTHING that a Natu can do, let alone your Natu's natural capabilities?"

"Other than fly on my head?" Tristen replied. Incidentally, the Natu did that. It likes its perch.

".......yea. Other than that."

"Um. Well. If it is anything like tribe leader, uh...I guess its...Psychic?" He said.

"Uh-huh?" I spoke.

"How about attacks? Do you know what your Natu can do up front? Or what its capable of?"

"No..."

I gave a bit of a sigh. It was always a task to try to get someone started from essentially scratch.

Tails didn't say anything at first. But he pointed at his nose, then waved his arms. He hoped this might be a cue for one of Natu's most simple maneuvers.

Tristen took notice to Tails, but frankly, he wasn't catching on what Tails was getting at. "Alright, Tristen. Your right, A Natu is a Psychic type. Its also a Flying type. It has the ability to learn a fair amount of moves from each of its respective types at the very least." I said.

Tristen looked back at me. "Uh-huh?"

"So think for a moment. What do YOU think a Natu can be capable of early on its development?" I asked.

"Uhhhh..."

Natu looked down at Tristen as it was perched on its head. "....natu..." Natu, however was perceptive to what Tails was getting at and pecked a couple of times on Tristen's head.

"Ack! What?"

"Natu natu!"

"....oh...Peck?"

"Well I guess he learns the hard way." I said, looking at Tails.

Tails' grin was wide. Success. However, he couldn't mime any of the bird's other techniques. "It also knows a few ghost type moves," he said. "Think of it like a shaman."

"Ghost attacks?"

"Just because they are of certain types doesn't mean they cannot learn other tricks. For instance. Natu are able to use attacks such as Night Shade." I said to him.

"Night Shade? Does my Natu know how to do that now?"

"I don't know, why don't you ask him and find out? And if so, how about show us?"

Tristen looked up at Natu. "Natu? Are you able to use Night Shade?"

"Natu!"

"Then, why not do what he said then? Show them. Though. Um. Can you get off my head when you do it?" Tristen then said nervously.

The Natu fluttered off the boy's head and landed on the ground. "Natu!" It then unleashed its Night Shade. Only thing is...it didn't take much to realize that...the Night Shade attack looked a bit on the underpowered side.

Tails could feel a kind of rippling in the air from the way spirits distort chi, but that this was so un-strong piqued Tails' curiosity. Was it that the Pokemon was young? He had to see for himself.

"Hey Natu," he said as he approached. "Could you do that again? And this time aim it at me? Don't worry too much, Vulpix and Ninetales are pretty resilient against this stuff."

"Uh..." Tristen thought for a moment. Tails was actually wanting to do that? Actually stand in harm's way? Though then again, Tails would have his reasons for doing that. "Um. I guess do what he said, Natu."

"Natu." And with that, it let loose another Night Shade attack upon Tails.

Tails felt a roiling chill creep through him, ending in the sensation of sharp pinpricks in his fingers in toes. His ears twitched but otherwise he did not properly react. "That's what I thought. Blizz, isn't Night Shade a direct indicator to the Pokemon's strength?"

"One of the most direct ones, like Seismic Toss, for instance." I said. "Meaning that this can work out in Tristen's favor actually in the long run. Tristen has a bit more liberty to work with Natu how he sees fit. That said, he also needs to first, and for most just to get it learning how to battle, so that Night Shade attack can actually pack a bit of a punch."

Tristen tilted his head. Natu wasn't all that strong? Apparently he wasn't the only one that apparently needed to get stronger. But something had occurred to him. "So, how do I teach it to battle?"

"Well really? They already do. But its up to the trainer to hone their skills at it. Get them experienced and such to take on stronger and stronger opponents." I said. "Though, that said, they generally know how to battle as how they do out in the wild. There are no rules or regulations and things like that in a fight. There's no strategy other than to survive. Hanging around with us though, well, given my experience, you'll hardly dwelve into sanctioned fights and more of...I guess....Pokemon Street Fighting, considering how the likes of how Cipher wants to gang up on anyone. Regardless, Tails and I can show you a few things to each."

Tails likewise grinned. "You can bet I have lots of things to teach," he said. "Like being tough enough to take an attack and keep moving. Or how to coordinate flanks with your Pokemon. Weavile is -awesome- at flanks."

Tristen stood there, listening attentively. It occurred to him that this was going to be a lot to contend with. Incidentally, however, he knew that this could very well be the best way to get to his goal. "So, where do I start?" Tristen asked.

"Well lets just start off touching on the basics." I said to him. "This might dwelve a little into sanctioned fights, but rather it be sanctioned or like I mentioned about street fighting, it always starts off like this." I said, taking out a Pokeball. "Confrontation." I said, tossing out a Pokeball. "Riolu, come out."

The ball busts open and reveals the Pokemon inside. "Ra la!"

"Tristen, this is Riolu."

"Ra la?"
