Atlantis_Darts "Well?" Clair asks, quirking one eyebrow cockily at the Snagem leader, both of them observing their home for the next few hours. Sub stood still for a moment as he examined the battlefield before him. He had to admit it was one of the more intimidating battlefields he has seen in his days, far surpassing the fields of the other Johto gyms, and perhaps most of all the gyms there were. That said he thought it was just slightly insane to make your field hover over a pool of lava, especially considering you would have pre-teens and younger possibly challenging you but apparently the Pokemon League was okay with this so who was he to question it? Giving Clair just the briefest of glances he made his way to one of the trainer boxes, the one to their right. He had to zigzag around a few pillars to get there, he didn't feel like walking along the edge of the field, not that he was afraid of falling into molten rock, it was just really hot. He liked the heat but this was a little much. "Alright, I'm tired of waiting. Let's get this going. Griswold." Sub said after taking his place, arms folded. With his name called the Spiritomb would appear from Sub's cast shadow in the form of a purple wisp with a fiendish grin. The ball of otherworldly energy would bounce around in the air before shattering on the ground in front of the trainer, taking on the form of its Odd Keystone, its true ghostly body slowly rising from the stone with a vile but gleeful cackle. Griswold was ready to battle.

"Let's send this usurper home! Altaria!" "Tair!" The cloudy dragon announced its presence with a high-volume squeak, floating into the open air above the battlefield. Both trainer and Pokemon were poised, waiting for the challenger to make the first move.

The Spiritomb would respond to the command with a cackle as its Odd Keystone began to give off a bright green glow from its crack, the green orbs of its body being consumed by the stone beneath it. The glowing energy would quickly flow out of the stone and wash over the field before rising up and creating a cube of now purplish pink energy around them, dots of green swimming around in the walls of the energy cube which contained them. Griswold would feel no different in this cage but Altaria would, normally it would feel confident facing down a special move but now it was more sure of taking a physical one as it found its two defensive stats flipped. There must be more to this trick than meets the eye though.

She points a hand out over the battlefield. "Let's head off some of your hijinks at the pass, shall we? Altaria, Safeguard!" The bird-like Dragon coos in response to its trainer's command, casting its cloudy wings wide. A deeply soothing and refreshing aura would fill the space occupied by the Wonder Room, moving out into the space around the edges of the suspended platform. This ensured that a Ghost-type with a bevy of ways to inflict status would be stymied. "If you think you're going to come into my Gym and cheat your way to a win like you did with the Dragon's Den I think you're going to be disappointed." She taunts, rewriting history with a practiced liar's ease.

"You know, you could make a cupcake look unappetizing to a Snorlax if you stood next to it and did one of your snobbish rants on why the cupcake was trash. Geez lady, you need to chill out." He ranted, the woman wasn't getting under his skin exactly, he was just growing tired of the whole 'I'm better than you' act. "Any who, now that you ruined any fun we may have had thanks to that Safeguard I suppose we'll just have to be more direct. Griswold, Icy Wind!" The Dark One commanded. The Spiritomb would cackle as it expanded its body out wide like a large flat disc before it proceeded to rotate like a fan. A modest speed at first which would quickly build up into a stinging gust of chilling air which would coat any object or ground in its path with a thin layer of frost. Of course it wouldn't last long, or even form, in this lava chamber but they didn't need it to. The damage it would deal and the speed it would sap were good enough.

"Pfeh, my Altaria is more than a match for..." She paused mid-sentence, realizing quickly that the Wonder Room wouldn't be stopped by something like Safeguard. She had gotten a bit over confident, and allowed the Spiritomb to get close. As the skin of her dragon-type sizzles as it comes into contact with the much more dangerous than usual four times super effective attack, Clair musters up a counter strategy for her weakened Pokemon. "Perish Song! Sing it a requiem!" Altaria lets loose an unearthly wail from the depths of its injured heart, as golden sparkles levitate from its cloud-like tail. The song begins bathing all Pokemon hearing it with an unearthly compulsion to shed this mortal coil, and Sub was going to have to be on the clock even with the amount of damage he had done in scoring the first blow. Altaria's Perish count fell to 3.

Altaria's Perish count fell to 3. "Well that's really inconvenient." Sub mused aloud, folding his arms and frowning. "Oh well, may not be the most effective as for as damage goes but will ensure you don't flee. Infestation!" The man ordered, muttering a bit to himself. It would do almost nothing to harm the flying dragon but it would prevent escape and turn the Perish Song against it. What else could he do in this situation? With a chilling wail Griswold would stretch out and hunch over, face inches away from the ground as it 'regurgitated' a stream of sickly green 'insects' that looked more twisted and demonic than real insects, these were also made of energy rather than anything organic. The wave of vile critters would rush towards the dragon, leaping in clumps at it until they managed to attach themselves to the Altaria, scurrying around its body and administering bites that were more annoying than harmful.

The bird growls slightly at the annoyance, flicking her wings back and forth to try and shake them off but to no avail. "A sting of swarming pests... very fitting. Altaria, unleash the strength of your Moonblast! Purge this phantom from my sight!" Inhaling again, the Dragon-type begins coagulating a ball of pink energy at the tip of its beak for a moment before releasing it in the shape of a conical beam, a drill-like protrusion aiming for the center of Griswold's mass. Type changes had not been kind to the Spiritomb.

Sub spouted off while the Altaria charged the energy and fired off the Moonblast, both trainer and his ghost undeterred by the mass of deadly energy hurtling towards the later. The Moonblast would slam into Griswold, causing the Spiritomb to just completely explode into a harmless burst of purple energy, as if the ball of Fairy energy had completely eradicated the otherworldly creature, only leaving behind its dull and dead looking Odd Keystone. Glancing over at the stone briefly, Sub would turn his gaze back on Clair and scoff at her as the keystone's lines began to glow purple once more and Griswold rose back up from inside. "Substitute, nifty, huh?" The Dark One mocked. It was apparent he intended to stall, allowing the Perish Song to take both Pokemon out in time to spare his next one any trouble from Altaria.

Both Pokemon would begin to feel the distant chill of the netherworld as their Perish counts ticked down to 2. "And if you spent less time running and more time acting, maybe your biggest accomplishment wouldn't be being known as a fill-in for Sydney in Karen's bed." She shot back at the Dark-type user. "Altaria. Agility." The Dragon-type blurred as it began to accelerate faster and faster, the Psychic type move causing it to circle the Spiritomb at a rapid pace. Clearly she planned on her next attack landing before the Substitute could be made, so Sub was going to need to tread carefully here.

Sub shot back, hand rested against his chest as if to claim he had been wounded. He watched Altaria began to move faster and faster around Spiritomb. There was no way they were going to pull off another Substitute and hitting it just got harder but maybe they didn't have to do either. "Maybe you should take note of your Altaria and do some running yourself, that suit looks tight at the hips." He just had to keep that insult battle going. "I hope your Pokemon doesn't have epilepsy! Throw it off with a Confuse Ray!" Sub commanded. With a fiendish cackle Griswold would spin its swirl of a 'body' around quickly for a few turns, the green orbs inside giving off a quick and very bright flash of light that would fill the entire room for but a moment, Sub anticipating and thus covered his own eyes in time. The plan here was to hopefully make that speed a hindrance.

The Altaria emerges from its dizzying circles to dive straight through the Confuse Ray, its own momentum carrying it through the mesmerizing attack. Even as the Altaria loses control of its body in confusion, the momentum keeps the dragon-energy covered Humming Pokemon hurtling through the air and smashing into the Spiritomb, dashing both Pokemon on the suspended platform above the lava from sheer weight and gravity. Both Pokemon's Perish Count falls to 1.

Both Pokemon's Perish Count falls to 1. There was nothing he could do about that, Altaria was moving way too fast already and the sudden burst of speed and power from Dragon Rush made it impossible for Griswold to react in time, Clair and Altaria had them dead to rights one way or another. Flinching himself as Altaria slammed into his Spiritomb Sub did little else but wait to see the aftermath. As the dust settled his Pokemon's ghostly form was gone and all that remained was the Odd Keystone, the crack in it giving off a few weak blinks before going dark. Griswold had fainted. Appearing disappointed and forlorn Sub recalled his Pokemon without saying so much as a snide remark at Clair this time. Slowing clipping the ball back onto his vest and taking off another Dusk Ball he raised his head back and looked at Clair with a sly grin. "Gotcha." He declared before chucking the Dusk Ball out onto the field as hard as he could before shouting in mid throw. "Use Retaliate!" The device would pop open to conjure a swirling vortex of darkness from which a small orange and yellow lizard sporting a red mohawk appeared, leaping through the air so quick that it looked like a blur of the three colors. The lizard would whizz right past Altaria wherever it was at that moment and land on the ground on the opposite side of it, coming to an abrupt and complete stop, Clair actually able to see what the creature was now. "Scraft." Landor the Scrafty looked right at Clair with a smile, not even bothering to look back at the Altaria behind him which he had just slashed with a blade of Normal energy imbued with the very willpower of its fallen comrade and desire to avenge him, the Scrafty now adjusting the black Muscle Band around its right upper arm.

"You always had a thing for the misfits." Clair 'hmphs' as her Altaria crumples to the ground in front of her, the platform swaying lightly with the impact. "But now I'm going to prove to you that there's one thing misfits will never understand. True greatness." Her Pokeball whirls out and opens with a flash, releasing her Kingdra. The Dragon Pokemon of all Dragon-type Pokemon fixes the Scrafty with a haughty glare down its snout, a King's Rock daintily perched on its brow. Expression for expression the Pokemon mirrored its contempt from Clair. Clearly these two had been together for a long time. The lava burbles and roils beneath the chained platform as Clair makes the first move. "Kingdra...." She feigns a yawn, trying to invalidate the moxie of what Sub had brought to the battle so far. "Give him a Yawn. Show him how bored you are of this battle already." Rearing back the Kingdra adopts a haughty expression before shooting a snort of sleeping gas of some kind from its snout, the snort accompanying it nearing a snore as it attempted to make Scrafty drowsy.

After Altaria fell the Scrafty's muscles began to bulge slightly and a look of determination lit up in its eyes, Moxie raising its Attack after successfully delivering vengeance for its comrade. However the pumped up Landor couldn't help but yawn in response to the newly appeared Kingdra, the contagious sleepiness seeping into his mind as he stretched his neck a little. Not exactly what Sub expected but it was a situation he would deal with. "Misfits? Maybe. But how about I show you how entertaining a misfit can be. Landor, use Outrage!" The Dark One ordered. Shaking off the suggestion of sleep for now Landor would let out a shout and flex his arms, a shroud of Dragon energy bursting into existence around him. With a frantic scream the Scrafty would rush towards Kingdra with newfound inspiration in the form of pure unadulterated rage, channeling the power of his Dragon ancestors and turning that primal anger on the only true Dragon in the room. Throwing caution to the wind Scrafty would deliver a flurry of punches, kicks, and headbutts upon Kingdra, utilizing ever ounce of strength it could.
