Soda Ex Machina

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - a ridiculously long but also ridiculously good book involving an alternate history of England and the return of magic to it, brought about by a myriad of characters of varying degrees of oddness.

Abselotely awesome book! Best book I read last year.

I just started a new series which is looking very promising. It's called the Runeblade Saga.
I admit it, I'm a sucker for paperback fanasty.

I'm just finishing a book called "House of Chains: A Tale of the Malazan Book of the Fallen. It's an amazing book, quite long, but amazing. It's written by Steven Erikson, whom in my opinion ranks right up there with Tolkien and Donaldson. I can promise you that if you like Tolkien you will like House of Chains.

Read? I love reading. I devote my life to it... (well, mainly writing, but I still read a lot). I try going to the library as much as I can...

The Darren Shan Saga is something I EXTREMELY reconmend for anyone. My entire household family is reading the series (twelve books in all), and we all love it. Since most of us are fans of vampires, this would be one of the best vamp series you could pick up.

emo -sniff- My favorite character died recently in the series... Even in death may you be triumphant, Larten Crepsley.

Seriouslly! Who really goes to the bookstore, gets a copy of "the red badge of courage" and reads anymore. I still do! The amount of people who go to the bookstore for something besides anime is dwindling...Anime is cool but try reading something else as well for a change.

While I have a topic started here, I would like to ask how many goths you know/meet that you would consider intelligent/"geeky" (read books, know about history, literature, science, don't hate school...) It seems like a lot of people these days just headbang to some metal band, wear black, and say they're goth. No. I'm sorry. Those qualities alone can't make you goth. Or at least "true goth". They should read up about goth a bit more.

Also, who here plays an instument? What do you play, for how long, and do you wright your own music?

I for one would live in the library given the chance. I used to check out around 15 to 20 books a month. Most of the time more. lol I had my boyfriend with two armfuls and a bookbag full of books plus my arms full one trip. It was wonderful. lol Though the librarians tend to stare when you check out that many. But I have nothing better to do than read, so why not?

I love Amelia Atwater Rhodes. She is by far one of the best writers of the time. And Laurell k. Hamilton. She writes the Anita Blake series, and the Meridith Gentry series (which is always conviently checked out when I'm after it). If your into vampire romance novels, try Maggie Shayne. She manages wit without being too tacky. Also, for those witch lovers, try the Sweep series by Cate Teirnan. It's heavily influenced by Wicca and other witchy elements. Very good.

Ummmm. I think That's all I got. Should I remember more, I'll be back lol

Added to list of stuff I'm reading-

The Pirate by Christopher Wallace.

I think the author is really up himself or really good at writing a character.
