History:
Totchli's mother was head over tail in love with a Kelpie stallion, one who was not quite so infatuated with her. When she realized his attention was beginning to wander, she sought to tie him to her by bearing him a child. This plan fell apart when little Totchli was still in his shell, however. The stallion saw no reason to stick around and raise bawling baby and so he took off, leaving the mother to take care of Tochli on her own.
Now, when little Tochli came out of his shell, he predictably imprinted on his mother. He was a complete mama's boy. She could do no wrong in his eyes, she was the center of his universe. Unfortunately, his mother did not care for him quite as much. She had never really wanted children, and had only borne him to try and tie her love to her. Because it failed, she blamed little Totchli. She stuck around until she felt that he was big enough to take care of himself before she left in the dark of the night.
After losing the one whom his whole world revolved around, little Totchli became cynical with serious abandonment issues. At a young age, he resolved not to let anyone close to him, to keep them from hurting him as deeply as his mother had.
Like it or Not -- After so long of being alone, Totchli was more than a bit unsettled when his domain was invaded by a small dolphin. He did his best to drive the little creature away, but caved when all she did was cower. Reluctantly, he let her stay, certain that she would eventually leave him like everyone else he had cared about did. Little Velvet proved to be the perfect companion, however. Rarely if ever seen but taking care of his domain.
Hidden... IN THE REEFS! -- Totchli's carefully constructed life comes crumbling down when his reef is invaded by a curious jellyfish and the equally curious mer she brought with her. Natasha took an instant liking to Totchli and decided that he shouldn't be left alone. She took off to find her father and convince him to accept Totchli into their crew. The bunny-mer assumed, when she left, that he would never see her again. When she actually returned, however, Totchli latched on to her as something he had never had before. Someone who wouldn't abandon him.
A Pirate's Life - When Natasha needed a break from Totchli, he gave her the space she asked for... or at least, he tried to. While stalking keeping an eye on her from a sort of safe distance, a passing stallion, Killian, misunderstood the situation and attacked what he thought was a creepy stalker.
