Rainy- Nice to see some art from you. I like the play of using light to mold the drawing in the wolf picture.



Asphy- Your pieces so such a nice female anatomy and the compositions/body positions are always really interesting and great at moving the eye around the piece.


Lost- I love the subtle play of lighting on around the Moth(or butterfly). It is also very refreshing to see a background since seems like so many digital pieces lack them. It works very well with the moth. One suggestion I would have however is not to be afraid to take away some of the sharp outlines around the cat. You can fad them out in some areas, like were the light is touching and it will help with the cohesiveness of the subject and the background that lacks hard lines and is all blending. Overall though a very beautiful peace.




On another note, finally have a bit of art to show myself. It is a recreation of my old angel mantis piece. Ever since I got my tablet I've always wanted to do a recreation of it in sharp black ink so it would really pop when it comes to being displayed on the computer. Had a lot of fun with it, though it took me forever to hand ink with my tablet. @__@

Afraid you loose some of the detail in the small sig size version but I'm too lazy to upload a larger version at the moment so this will have to do. XD-

Thank you Affy. Always really loved simple ink pieces with just pen on paper. Something about just letting yourself go and responding to each mark and creating the piece in response to your previous mark. Have to say though doing a recreation with my tablet and photoshop took me forever. I have to have clocked in over 30 hours of work on that piece. *eye twitch*

I think part of it was because normally when I do ink and paper there is no going back after you make a mark. If your hand shakes a little, or you pause to long and the ink blots, you just have to fix it by making another mark. I also don't pencil anything in before hand so I'm not following any set lines when I ink. That is how I did the original.

With this computer version, however I was able to go back and obsess over each line and try several different pasterns/marks before settling on how I would handle a section. Was a lot of work, but I like the results and had a lot of fun doing it.

Your lines and details are always so neat and clean. I'm afraid I have shakey hand syndrome and the "eh..don't care if it goes out of line" ^.^

I love the pieces that you do for yourself. I think the best artwork that I always look at is when artists do something because they want to do it, either for themselves or as gifts. Sure..artists who sell commissions and put effort into it, do great work too. But. I guess there's just something extra special about personal pieces.

I think some of that has to do with the subject matter for me. I do put a lot of work into my commissions, but there is something about drawing something I really enjoy... like praying mantises. I think the only way I could ever make a living at doing commissions is if it was praying mantises. I would have a blast with that.

Sadly most people aren't into commissioning mantises. Instead, I take on commissions only for some side cash or Gaia gold. That way I don't burn myself out and can make sure I have enough creative juices and energy to do the piece justice for the commissioner.
