"Were," Ship corrected. "Things happened, people sought to put me in the front of the line with their strings and now it's just a bunch of heartache I'd rather forget. It's the reason Sub took me in after he outed me."

"They killed my mother and father," Ship continued, and his voice became steely. He was not naive to the inflections of other lands. "They were both far stronger than I was. Or am now. I think they would rather I lived safer and out of sight than to waste my life in a stupid quest for revenge."

I think they would rather I lived safer and out of sight than to waste my life in a stupid quest for revenge." I leaned forward on the table. "While I share your sentiment of not wanting to go on a roaring rampage of revenge like some anti-hero in a B-movie, what I don't understand is why would you allow your killers off the hook so easily." I said.

"Because even if I had the means, they're an organization and I am only me," Ship answered. With a sigh to calm himself, he sipped again from the tea. "And my parents weren't even viceroy. We were just dukes and the king is a ceremonial, defunct crown with both knees bent to the Britannian empire. To the press, I'm dead and I haven't suspected my pursuers to be about since I took my job in Nacrene city."

I'm guessing that they were in no good standing to have friends to help him in such a challenge. For that matter, as far as the here and now concerned, I felt that I may have pressed too hard. "I'm sorry..." I said, turning my head a bit.

Another sip. A longer sip. "It's alright. In light of Tristen and Tails, my problems are sort of meagre. And I've had my turn of crying. At any rate, it's not hard to forget about things when you watch them go about their antics."

"So, what do you intend on doing when the whole Cipher debacle is over. You said you were going to talk to Sub, but what for, by chance?" I asked.

"Over time, I guess Sub's come to think of me as sort of a brother. I hate that I can't be on tour with him, but I was hoping we could use what time of peace we'll have to prepare for the next troubles you find yourselves in," Ship explained. With one more sip, he finally sat down at the table. "I've always been a single child, and Sub is rather goofy...but he is nice. And I understand their tour has so far been successful."

"Admittingly it wasn't without its bumps and bruises. Nothing that I, in particular, cannot weather." I said. "For now anyways. Something huge is coming up. I can feel it." I said to him. "I cannot explain it, really...but its not going to deter me from finishing this. I came here because Cipher found it a fine idea to use my town as testing grounds for one of their toys...for that, I saw to it that they lost a very important scientist...at least temporarily." I said. I couldn't believe that it took killing Ein TWICE just for him to be rid of, now that I thought about it.

"Temporarily?" Ship queried. This was an odd choice of words in dealing with someone as important as a core scientist.

Trigramatic "Temporarily?" Ship queried. This was an odd choice of words in dealing with someone as important as a core scientist. "I killed him, Ship. Well. I. Didn't kill him, but I orchastrated it in a way that he would be done in by his own creations. He actually was. However, I found out when I went on the trip to another region to go help a dear friend of mine, he managed to cheat death...only for about a few days after finding out, he was shut down for good...for certain this time." I explained.

"I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the moral implications of your doing that," Ship mused. "Killing may be necessary, but no matter what he did, knowingly mechanizing a way for his experiments to kill him constitutes as torture."

"Killing may be necessary, but no matter what he did, knowingly mechanizing a way for his experiments to kill him constitutes as torture." "Truth be told, I was about to put him out right there and then myself. But all in all, his life wasn't mine to claim. That night when we raided his lab, I actually had him cornered and defenseless and I was about to bring him to an end. The Pokemon he experimented on, however, showed themselves. They were the ones that wanted to exact vengeance as well. It was there where I realized the reason why I wasn't really allowed to shut him down myself prior, or why his teacher wouldn't for that matter." I said. "Did he do us wrong? Sure. But not to the extent to what he did those Pokemon...those that helped him...I couldn't take it." I said.

"And then he had an out," Ship reminded. "It's not that I don't sympathize, but Pokemon will instinctively only seek short term objectives, and those that have been experimented on could possibly be too far gone to think beyond an hour in the future. If an individual is a threat to you and others, especially if he's proven to have murdered and tortured in the past, a certain level of vigilantism is morally acceptable, including manslaughter. But because you didn't witness his death, he survived. What would you have done if he'd taken your children?"
