"...walking is too mainstream for him." I said. "I kind of figured as much."

"Well, I was wondering when you two were going to get here." From the back, out of the darkness, Kristy and Morty found their way out onto the battlefield. "I hope you are ready, Aden." Morty said. "This is going to be a heavily different experience as opposed to the last time you were here."

I managed to get up into the spectator spot along with Ryan, Ceramew, and Sol, and took a seat. "Well...Sol, Ceramew, nice of you two to join us. We may be in for one hell of a show." I said.

"Kristy, you're up." Morty said as he too walked off towards the side towards the spectator stand.

With a nod, she made her way off. Kristy took out a Pokeball as she walked to the defending side of the gym. The same step, the same intimidating demeanor she had been known for. She treated the battles all the same. All serious. Truthfully, for the sake of exhibition sake, she did pull a punch or two those months ago. No more. Got the praise of one leader, shamed the second, and toppled the choke point in the third gym. This was where the gloves came off.

When she got to the box, she stood at the ready, staring intently at Aden, as if she was reading right into his very soul. The gym ref came out onto the field. "This is an official Pokemon league match! This will be a two on two battle in Single Battle format! The challenger, Aden of Agate Village, will be permitted to switch between Pokemon at any time he sees fit. Kristy, the apprentice representing the Ecruteak Gym, will not! The battle will conclude when one submits or one trainer is out of usable Pokemon!"

"Here we go..." I said, sitting up in the seat I'm in.

"Begin!" The Ref called out.

"Mismagius. You're out first." Kristy tossed out the Pokeball out onto the field. With the ball's opening came out a frantic cackle from the Mismagius as it is revealed.

"Yes, as I've heard, these find some way of getting interesting." Sol quipped.

"Yeah, a show that didn't get the memo that Halloween's a ways off..." Ceramew muttered, looking down at the arena.


"I get the feeling this isn't going to be the same..." Much as Aden wanted to, he couldn't chance using Geodude here. Not against her, at least. Instead, he opted for a different idea, swapping the ball he had in hand for a different one. "Alright, Nidorino, let's go!"

Tossing the ball out at once, he let his Nidorino out to take his side of the field. Feeling he might be safe in his guess, he didn't take long to start messing with that Mismagius. "Captivate!" That all said, one has to wonder how a Nidorino's going to get a Mismagius' attention like that.

The look alone made Nidorino flinch, intimidated a little by the glare he was given. Eventually, he shot a glare back, but it wasn't anything compared to a Mean Look.

"Yeah, I've actually been learning a little..." Aden spoke up, noticing Kristy's eyes narrowing. "Nidorino, we're not going anywhere, so get ready. Focus Energy!" He called.

In response, Nidorino calmed himself down a bit, focusing on the matter at hand. He was ready, keeping an eye on Mismagius.

Ryan glared over at Kristy. "She is going a bit overboard, don't you think?" he said just so those in the observation box would hear him. Ruth would hug Ryan, sensing that his master was agitated and wanted to soothe his mood. The hug from the tiny dragon worked as it forced Ryan to smile and pat Ruth on the head. "It's alright." he says. Ruth coos and goes back to watching the fight.

"Well well, this found a way of escalating in record time." Sol quipped.

"I hope Aden remembered that TM... he was saying about how he used a few." Ceramew commented. "If not, I dun think this is going to end well."

"Relax. You and I both know his resourcefulness."


"...This is bad." Aden said, visibly cringing alongside Nidoran as the dreadful tune echoed. Truth be told, he had completely forgotten about using that Shadow Claw TM. If he had remembered beforehand, it really would've helped about now. Instead... he was severely limited in his attack options. Shock Wave and the odd poison attack was practically all he had outside of status abuse. And he couldn't exactly get Nidorino out either.

He seemed to freeze up, but in reality, he was thinking. Trying to find a way through this. He knew Kristy couldn't switch either, but he wouldn't be surprised if there were some way around it. In fact, he felt that was all too likely. At this point, his best bet might've been to make Mismagius' life miserable.

"C'mon, Nidorino, we can keep going. Shock Wave!" He called, watching Nidorino charge and unleash the electrical flurry at Mismagius.

Aden backed up when the Shock Wave harmlessly bounced off Mismagius. Stall tactics... fun. "Okay, so much for that... Nidorino, how're you holding up?"

"(Make it stop already!)" He was getting tired of that tune ringing through. In more ways than one.

"Just endure what you can. Uh... alright, try this! Toxic Spikes! Lay them everywhere!" He called.

Sounding as good as any other idea, Nidorino started jabbing the ground, injecting poisonous barbs as he ran about.
