My name is Amanda, i'm 20 years old, was married this past Saturday! heart
I live in America, and speak English, Spanish, beginner French and conversational Urdu. I joined this guild because for the past couple years i've been seriously looking into Islam, and converting.
But i am nervous because i do not know how i will be received since i am Caucasian..I also do not know how i will tell my family - They are devout Christians.
This year i have been plagued with so many important decisions, and am looking for guidance here on one of them.

Greetings. I am most grateful to be allowed to join this guild and learn from you all.
I am not a Muslim, only a student of this world.
On some days, I believe in Allah, on others, I do not. So, I will not say the Shahada unless I know it and have no doubt in my heart. I would rather go to Jahannam as a fool than to live my life as a hypocrite.
But, I think that Islam is very beautiful and I want to learn so much about it.
I believe that all men are brothers, so please do not be angry if I say something foolish and offend you. I would never do that on purpose, only through my own ignorance.
I have come here so that I will be less ignorant.
EDIT: I am reading The Qur'an in English because that is my mother-tongue and the only language I understand well. I have read that The Qur'an is only perfect in Arabic, and if this is true, then I will have so many more questions that you will be tired of hearing me ask all the time. sweatdrop

Assalammu'alaykum everyone.. My name's Furqana (just call me Furqan), from Indonesia, speak Indonesian & English, Learned Arabic in the past, but never used in any real conversation, so I forgot most of it.. sweatdrop
I'm really happy to join this guild. I looked for posts in this thread, and found out most of you are a little younger than me (I'm 19), but that doesn't mean I'm more knowledgeable than you guys, so, I hope we can learn from each other..
And for those who have questions about Islam, feel free to ask. Not only me, but I'm sure everyone here will be glad to answer you.. biggrin

I just applied to be a member here, so I hope I'm allowed in. I'm just really excited to have found this guild.
I'm a seventeen-year-old girl from the U.S. I speak English (obviously), intermediate French, and beginner's German. I really want to learn Arabic, though. Arabic and Finnish, although that really doesn't apply here.
In August, I will be jetting off to Turkey for an eleven-month gap year foreign exchange. I'll be going through an entire year in a Turkish high school, speaking Turkish, and basically doing Turkish stuff, which is why I'm here. I want to learn about Islam before I go, since I'm not a Muslim myself. Even though Turkey is a secular state, I'd like to participate in some of the festivals and holidays and such.
Hopefully, you guys can help me out a bit!

Sure, glad to have you here.. You are an exchange student, so you must be really smart, huh? Ah, I wish I could go to another country too (for a trip or education of course, not permanent).. crying

Yep, my status is currently "outbound exchange student," meaning I haven't left home yet. Turkey was my third choice country, after Norway and the Czech Republic -- I really wasn't expecting to be placed there.
And you don't necessarily have to be smart to go on exchange. With the organization I'm going with (Rotary Youth Exchange), I was just required to be in the top 50% of my class (I'm top 5%, though, so it wasn't really an issue). And I fo' sho' won't be getting great grades when I don't speak Turkish. sweatdrop
I've never been out of the country -- I'm so excited to be going. My dream job is to teach English in a non-anglophone country -- Finland would be nice. I'd love to live abroad.

I've seen many caucasian muslims.
