Obito refuses to join Naruto, but everyone managed to free the other tailed beasts thus causing Obito to lose. Then, while Kakashi and Minato talk with Obito, Sasuke and Naruto head to the other battle with Madara and Hashirama.

Son asks Gaara if Naruto was his friend too and after a long winded speech, Gaara replied that Naruto was his first friend.

Thanks to Black Zetsu and a forbidden jutsu, Obito trades his life for Madara's so now Madara is flesh and blood once more and can no longer be sealed. Madara claims that he will take possession of the tailed beasts without any proof as to how thus far.

Madara summons the Gedo statue and then he puts the tailed beast chains on the beasts and begins to reel them into the statue.

Kurama was successfully extracted from Naruto's body, which means Naruto is going to die. Sasuke was stabbed in the heart by Madara so it looks like he too will die soon.

As Naruto lay dying with Sakura tending to him, Tsunade begins remembering the time where the chunin exams were going to resume with a new selection of candidates and hopefully from all the great nations. The first round being held in the leaf village and the second round in the sand village. But the other villages so far have denied the invites.

The competitors make it to the exam stage, but end up in a food fight and then because Choji was so hungry he went out into a sand storm where a giant scorpion caught him. It was thanks to the tailed beast host Fu that helped him, Sakura, and Ino out of a tough situation. But Fu only did it because she wants to make 100 friends.

As the second round begins, the sand Shinobi at first attack as one that is until the leaf village help one of the sand teams out when the other sand teams betrayed the one. Lee then reveals that the one shinobi whom they helped can only use taijutsu just like Lee.
