oh yeah ... sorry for this late update ... but yeah ... been resting up ... but I had a fight (don't worry it was legal) on June 1st (very late update) ... I won the fight by unianimous decision ... bringing my record to 27-6-3 ... but yeah ... it was a dominating performance ... the judge scored the fight for me 30-25 ...
Now I only bring this up because of my opponent ... you see I was coming from Fanime ... an anime convention in the Bay Area ... where I was staffing ... now every year we recieve a group of protesters ... these are the religous fanatics ... they carried signs that had thing like "Believe in Jesus or BURN IN HELL" or "Only Belief in Christ can YOU be saved" ...
Well they apparently have formed splinter groups that have spread throughout my home state (California) and well yeah ... apparently my opponent was part of that group ... because once he saw me (I was still wearing my Fanime stuff) he approached me and started saying things like, "You're a sinner." "We're gonna shut you down." ... stuff I just didn't really mind ... but he started to stray off topic saying things about homosexuality and stuff like that ... a lot of hurtful things ... like "Those faggots will burn." "Gays are evil."
Now these words I didn't react to ... but some of my corner took offense and told me to kick his a** ... here a play-by play (seeing that the place that I fought at doesn't allow outside recording)
Round 1:
His only offensive moments were in the first two minutes of this round ... he took me down ... his double was really good ... tried for ground and pound from the guard ... but I used wrist control to prevent any damage ... he passed to half guard ... and tried for a kimura ... which I defended and then used it to sweep ... ending up in side control ... from there I decide to stand it back up ... and then I see it ... he was tired ... it was as if his lungs walked away from him ... so I move forward ... and basically use him as a heavy bag ... punches, kicks, knees, elbows ... his striking sucked ... he was doing some rookie mistakes with his striking ... under commiting to his strikes ... over commiting to his strikes ... hands not at the chin ... I was tagging him with some crisp and clean strikes ... jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, knees, and kicks ... I landed mostly everything ... so I finish the round strong with a good flurry ...
Round 2:
Well we go at it again ... more striking ... I pulling a striking clinic on him I try some wild stuff ... spinning backfists, spinning heel kicks, superman punches ... at some point he tries for a takedown ... it is a very weak one and very telegraphed ... I sprawl easily ... I eventual take his back ... which he gives to me ... he then turns over and gives me mount ... he bucks well enough ... I'm forced to move to side control ... I try for and get the Salaverry position ... I land some elbows and punches ... I then get mount again ... I land some blows ... he gives me his back again ... I try for a rear naked choke ... I get it the last five seconds of the round ... but the bell saves him ...
Round 3:
Pretty much the same thing ... me beating him on the feet ... I actually shoot in for a takedown and get it ... and I pass his guard like butter ... I get mount again ... and he gives me his back again ... though this time he sneaks out the back door ... more exchanges ... with me coming up on top ... his face is bruised up ... small cuts all over ... near the end of the round ... I knock him down with a very nice left cross ... and finish the round strong with some ground and pound ...
So yeah that was the fight ... I officially dedicated it to Fanime ... but then again I was fighting for more ... for this Guild ... for everyone involved in LGBT ... this victory was not just mine ... but yours as well ... so here's to you ...
