"We're not going to get caught up in it, are we?" he said.

"We cou- whoa!"

Tails leaped from the corner just as a Jolteon hybrid of about twenty leaped out, dressed in only his skivvies, thin bolts striking the drenched walls around him. Not far behind were the thuds of thick legs, and the sulfuric smell of lava.

The hybrid glanced to the boys, and grimaced. He could have taken his time with this wild Camerupt, but if he did here, these kids would be in danger. He gripped a faintly glowing thunderstone in his right hand.

Tristen fell back when the Jolteon hybrid jumped seemingly out of nowhere. "WAAH!" He then sat back up to see what was going on. He quickly scooted back as fast as he could. Obviously, he wasn't wanting to find out what he was capable of, let alone if he was hostile.

Tails stumbled back from the tunnel as the Jolteon leaped back, and into view stomped the Camerupt, its volcanic humps barely scraping below the ceiling. It bellowed, and the springwater shuddered.

"Get back, kids," said the Jolteon. "I don't know how well I can do this with these slippery walls."

"Um...okay." Though Tails was in no danger from the Camerupt, the Camerupt was in no danger from Tails. He quickly backed further away with Tristen.

"Tails! It's huge!" He said. Ok, now what the heck was going on here. So the Jolteon is seemingly friendly...for now. Now what was with this Camerupt's issue. He knew this much, HE in particular couldn't do anything much to it.

"Hm? Oh hey there." I said, looking back into the fridge. "Ah ha!" I grabbed a Coke out of the fridge. Sweet carbonated bliss.

Odd smiled and offered a small wave of greeting. "Sorry about seeming so shy last night, Blizzard. Sir." He was still being way too formal for this little 'family' but he knew when someone deserved respect. "Um. I was wondering.....would you consider training me? I want to be stronger I could barely do anything last night and if you hadn't been there, I probably wouldn't be here today." In his way of thinking, Blizzard was a hero and he would never have the skill to even emulate him. Not without a lot of training and some serious attitude changes.

"And that's a -normal- size for Camerupt from beneath the surface," Tails said.

"You've been beneath the surface? Whoacrapforgetaboutit!" The Jolteon had barely managed to duck below a jet of fire, and a few tips of fur on his back were thoroughly singed. The Thunderstone flashed. "No more time. Just watch this!"

From standing still, the hybrid leaped to the corner of the tunnel entrance -- then the opposite wall in the span of a blink -- then multiple times across the Camerupt's side and the wall near which it stood and on each strike the Camerupt bellowed in distinct pain. When he ran out of Camerupt to jump against, he leaped upward to the ceiling and bolted straight down -- bringing his heel down on the top of the Camerupt's head.

The Camerupt did not cry this time, and collapsed onto the ground. The Jolteon stood balanced on the great skull of the Camerupt, and the last light of the Thunderstone died.

"He...did it." Tristen got up from the ground and looked over towards the fallen Camerupt and the Jolteon hybrid. "What. Is going on?"

The Jolteon tossed the dead stone at Tristen's feet, grinning. "Nothing special. I was hoping to save that thing for an emergency, but when I saw you kids-" He paused. He glanced from Tails, to Tristen and the disheveled state of his clothes. He tried very hard not to assume things. "Are you two naturalists?"

"I am," Tails said. "He's not. I just told him to take his clothes off for the spring."

"Natura-oh. Um. No. I didn't want to get my clothes wet." He said. "Um." He knelt over and picked up the drained thunderstone, tilting his head in confusion, then looked over at Tails. Nothing special? That Camerupt didn't seem all that happy, to say the least. "So who are you?" He asked.

"Jules," said the Jolteon. "A courier around here. I was in the area, and heard there were hotsprings. Who're you two?"

"I'm Tails," Tails said. He poked his thumb at the boy beside him. "And this is Tristen. We were about to eat when your fight carried up here."

Tails shrugged, then looked up to Jules. "Do you deliver packages for a living?"

"You betcha." Jules looked away when his nose directed him to something that smelled something a little more delicious than steam -- a skewered Spoink laying by the spring. This might have been the kids' dinner.

"Then yeah, I think he's the same kinda guy. Hey, if Tristen doesn't mind, wanna have some Spoink? I can't really eat pig."

"...why not?" Now Tristen felt kind of bad. He feels like he's leaving him out.
