The sparring match between Shiro and Lee ended when Lee won and Shiro's wound opened again. But both recognized each other as good friends. Meanwhile Gaara has just discovered Fu's secret.

Shino, Kiba, and Hinata run into a team of pirate ninjas who are only after their scroll and the pirate ninjas successfully take it, however, the leaf team is after them.

Kiba, Shino, and Hinata finally catch up and beat the thieves that stole their scroll and gained the one they needed in the process. Now they are headed to the tower.

Tenten, Lee, and Neji all run into the hidden rain team where Tenten and the leader of the rain team falls into a land of wind ruin.

Gaara is targeted from some Sand shinobi because they feel he is a danger with having the one tail beast inside him. And a huge sandstorm disrupts the chunin exams.

A sand shinobi with a lute has put sealing chains around Shukaku the one tailed beast and the beast hidden inside of Fu as well. Neji has just found out that Gaara is in trouble so it can be assumed that his team is going to find Gaara and help.

The chunin exams ended without a 3rd round and several shinobi were promoted to chunin, but Neji was promoted to Jounin, which is 2 levels above Genin.

In order to save Naruto's life, Gaara transports him to Minato to hopefully put the darker half of Kurama into Naruto, but Black Zetsu interferes before it can become a success.
