Aden was quiet, if a little nervous, as he hurried out after Blizzard. He had no idea how any of this would go, but he was as ready as he'd get, or so he hoped.

After leaving the Pokemon Center, I took a look out to the streets. The street lights were starting to come on. It was quiet out; a serene calm only known in Ecruteak. I walked off, making my way to the Pokemon Gym, ready to spectate the chaos that was about to unfold.

After a short walk, I found my way at the Pokemon Gym and allowed Aden to go in.

Aden was at least quicker about getting in, for the first time in... who knows how long. He looked around upon entry, wondering where Morty might be. Or anyone else apart from Blizzard.

Upon the darkened battlefield, Morty stood in wait. "Good evening, Aden. Are you ready?"

Upon the spectator stands, Kristy sat to her lonesome, waiting for the fight to go underway.

"Yeah..." Aden answered, trying to shake off what nervousness remained. He had been through worse, and he knew it. "What about you, Morty?"

"Yeah..." Aden answered, trying to shake off what nervousness remained. He had been through worse, and he knew it. "What about you, Morty?"

"I've been ready since I heard you were traversing the region with Blizzard. You've had your rocky spots, sure, but you persevered regardless. Show me what you got." Morty told him, making his way off to his side of the battlefield.

"Take care, Aden." I said, making my way towards the stands, waiting for the fight to unfold. I noticed Kristy there on them, but then...it left me to wonder where was Sol or Ceramew at? Seriously, spectating Kristy was one thing. This is a gym leader now. Seriously? Ah well, maybe for the better. Less pressure, I guess.

I got up into the stands and sat down. Kristy looked on over towards me. "How confident are you in Aden's abilities?" She asked.

"I wouldn't be worried about how good he is now. You best be concerned on just how well he'll be later." I told her.

"Is this your way of telling me your confidence is not exactly steady?" she asked.

"Tch...please. He got one over on you, did he not? That should tell you exactly what I think."

Kristy remained silent for a moment, then looked back on the battlefield. "We shall see."

When the combatants took their positions on the battlefield, the official ref took his position on the side of the field. "This is a sanctioned Pokemon League match up - Aden of Agate Village in the Orre Region versus Morty, the Ecruteak City Gym Leader! This will be a three on three battle in singles format! During which time, the Challenger will be free to exchange Pokemon on the field on will. The Gym Leader will not. The match will be decided when all Pokemon are defeated or a trainer submits! Let the battle begin!"

"Alright, here we go..." I said.

"Yes, we shall." Sol would speak up, starting up the stands to sit near the rest of the others. "I'd have been here sooner, but there was something I felt I needed to attend to in short order."

"And no, it wasn't me..." A certain floating fluffball would speak up, before perching herself on Sol's shoulder so she could watch.

Aden found himself taking a deeper breath than he thought he would, taking the stage. It was easy to tell Morty had been looking forward to this, and he had an inkling that this was going to get rough in a hurry. Giving a nod, he finally withdrew a Pokeball from his vest pocket. "Alright Raticate, let's go!" He spoke up, tossing the ball and letting Raticate out.

I perked up and quickly looked back around, then couldn't help but to bury my face in my hand. Sol strikes again. "Just why..." I said to his sudden appearance.

"Hmm...go! Driftblim!" He shouted, tossing out a Pokeball himself.

I looked up and looked on the battlefield. "Huh...I wondered when Morty would have gotten his hands on one of those."

"He got it over a year ago, just shortly before you ended up on the run." Kristy said.

"Hmm..."

The Ref looked on the field. "This will be a match up between Raticate and Driftblim! BEGIN!" The ref shouted.

"Driftblim! Tailwind!" Morty shouted. The Driftblim then summoned up a gale which howled through the halls of the Ecruteak City gym. The Driftblim started to move about quite fluidly through the room, eyeing the rat before it.

"Why? Well, I could've just showed up behind you, but Xatu tends to get irritated at the idea sometimes," Sol commented.

"She's not the only one..."

"Okay, I don't think that's one I know much about," Aden spoke up, a little apprehensive. He and Raticate watched as Drifblim started moving more fludily, and for a moment, he wasn't sure how well Raticate's speed would match up with this. "Raticate, keep up with his Drifblim! Pursuit!"

Sure enough, Raticate took off with all due haste, trying to rush at Morty's Drifblim.

The Raticate would hit its mark full on, making the balloon flutter back quite a bit. Aden would find though that, like the Dusknoir from Kristy, this Pokemon had a bit of padding. It would also find that this floaty balloon also had a bit of kick behind it. "Drifblim! Use Air Cutter!" He shouted.

The Drifblim spun about, unleashing a powerful windy wave towards the Raticate in retaliation.

Raticate couldn't seem to get out of the way from the attack, though it didn't hurt him as much as he or Aden had feared.

After making sure Raticate was alright, Aden tried to do something about the war of attrition he was bound to lose at this rate. "That's not too good... Raticate, Focus Energy!" He called, going on a slight defensive. Raticate took a deep breath to get ready, keeping an eye on Drifblim.

"Hmm, Driftblim, Stockpile!"

I leaned forward, staring at the battle intently. Morty is going to make Aden sweat this for everything there is. Part of me questioned Aden's decision to lead off with Raticate. It probably would have been better suited later on in this battle in my opinion. A thought probably shared with Kristy down the bleachers as she parted her hair a little and leaned up against the wall.

The Drifblim glowed just a slight bit, looking like it grew a little in size as it stockpiled its energy.

"Now, Raticate! Crunch!" Aden called, trying to avoid resorting to an escape tactic. He thought Raticate might've been a decent one to start with, but he also knew he'd need to try and conserve him to a point.

As it stood, his best option was to remain on the assault, having Raticate lunge at Drifblim with his fangs ready to clamp down on the opposing Pokemon.

The Crunch came down, and while strong against a Ghost, the added padding was enough for the Drifblim to shrug off for now. "Drifblim! Use Air Cutter!" The Drifblim, quickly floats about the Raticate, unleashing another windy blade towards the Raticate.
