After many many attempts at creating a orange and black avatar, I must conclude that it is impossible to do if you're as picky as I am. Unless you're willing to wear a set, like the Jack Set or the Kill L0cke set, you simply cannot match shades of orange together. Me, I like variety. I like making dissimilar parts work well together. But orange clothing is a rarity, and few pieces match up.
I layer my colors like so on an avatar:
Layer 1: Hair/Head accessories.
Layer 2: Eyewear/masks
Layer 3: Tops
Layer 4: Belts, gloves, and most hand held accessories
Layer 5: Pants
Layer 6: Shoes
So far, nothing I've created has made any impression on me. I'm going to try to do purple and black now and hope things get better.

Ladies, and gent's, my prove-Fog-wrong avatar. I'm pretty sure that nothing that I am wearing is fromt he same set. And I do think that it matches quite nicely.

Zanzarus Ladies, and gent's, my prove-Fog-wrong avatar. I'm pretty sure that nothing that I am wearing is fromt he same set. And I do think that it matches quite nicely. I find the shoes are too clunky. Besides, you're better at this than I am, and also that women have more orange clothing to work with than men do. You have dresses and gloves and socks and God knows what else. What are those orange things you're wearing under your skirt?

And the clunky makes the top of the avatar look less heavy.
