"If life ever ended on this planet, it would be cockroaches that survived," Sasha said evenly. "But no, I wouldn't go that far. It doesn't take much to be counted as better than dogs." All this talking! Sasha couldn't remember the last time any mutt in her presence had outlived more than five seconds. In her old coven...

Mariele saw Seshalay's eyes slowly darken, whether out of anger or thirst she didn't know, but she guessed that the effect of the meal she'd taken earlier was wearing off. Dead though they may be, their bodies still used up more calories particularly when preparing to - at any moment - fight.

Ria chuckled at Ebony's joke. "You really intend to fight us here, Seshalay?" Asked Ria skeptically. "You think the Volturi would really approve of such a thing?"

''The Volturi aren't around though, so I'm sure they wouldn't care, much. But atleast dogs are better respected than your kind.'' Ebony darkened her glare, her body seething about to become a wolf.

Seshalay snapped upward, like a whip, when Ria used her real name. She looked to Mariele helplessly. She hadn't said anything, and neither had the other girl. How did Ria know then? Beneath Seshalay's bravado - as well as honest longing for a fight - there was suddenly an undercurrent of fear. And she'd had to drag the damn Volturi into the conversation, too.

Mariele saw Sasha's wordless communication, and she was frustratingly unable to give an answer. Her power did not work that way, but her best guess was that Ria had some sort of telepathy - she knew the wolves did, but she was sure it existed only among themselves, and werewolves couldn't read vampires' minds - and that was what Mariele wanted to tell Sasha.

"You aren't nearly as inconspicuous as you think." Sneered Ria to Seshalay. Though she did have a sort of vindictive satisfaction from the look of fear that flashed across th leech's face. "Or did you think that nobody would notice the boys you...attract, always end up mysteriously vanished."

Ebony looked suspciously at Ria, ''You know the leech?'' She turned back and looked over the faces of the two vampires.

"Heard of, more like. She fits the description I've heard." Ria explained quickly, waving a hand, as if to wave off the importance of it. But then she turned her attention back to the parasites, who could be sneaky if left to their own devices.

Sasha started to tremble and - before anyone could have registered more than that fact - she sprung at Ria. Newly sated on blood, she had to hope that she'd be stronger than the werewolf. And, because she still clung to the vestiges of her newborn strength, she'd have to factor that into her gamble as well. Sasha lunged out with everything she had, fists, feet, and teeth. She felt something tear beneath her but she didn't stop to assess whether it was mere fabric or skin. Though she attacked with abandon, Seshalay's mind never stopped analysing the situation with a brutal precision.

When Seshalay chose to jump Ria, Mariele was startled, and then she looked warily at Ebony. She was in a fighter's stance again. She might not be able to stand up to two mutts at the same time - and maybe Sasha could, maybe she couldn't - but the least Mariele could do was prevent Ebony from jumping into the other's fight. "Are you going to play with me too, Ebony?" Mariele taunted.

Ria had phased before Sasha could get at her weak, human skin. She felt Sasha tear the clothes that she had so quickly abandoned. Her midnight fur bristled, standing up on her back, as she growled viciously at the attacking vampire. She felt a sharp pain in her shoulder as it sliced open, but only shallowly. Ria could already feel it healing up, the muscles knitting back together. In retaliation, she lunged forward, catching the leech's forearm in her teeth. She glared at Seshalay in warning.

Sasha ignored any attempts at communication with the literal wolf, now, and she braced herself for her next offense. Holding her captive arm rigidly straight, Sasha brought her other hand down hard on Ria's nose and snout. She felt a spasm of pain go through herself, but trapped between both of Sasha's arms, she was sure the dog's upper jaw was at least crushed as well. Seshalay brought her mildly injured arm back to cradle against her body.

Despite the bone-crushing attack on her jaw, Ria was at least satisfied to know that her teeth had sunk deeply into the leech's arm. She watched it hung limply against her body. Howling in defiance and pain, she swiped a large claw at Sasha's face, watching in pleasure as she felt her claws rip into the rock-hard flesh. Ria jumped back quickly, ignoring the blood she could feel dripping down her nose. Using her power as only she could, she conjured a new bone, in place of the one that Sasha had broke. She grinned a huge wolfy grin, showing her teeth to the injured vampire.

Sasha dismissed the scratches on her face as a minor casualty, and her inhumanly fast mind continued to provide her with strategy. Suddenly, she noticed a change in the structure of Ria's face. Damn! It looked like the beast had magic too; her bone had been replaced. "Can't you fight fair? I hate you!" Sasha vented childlishly. At times, even she threw acting her age to the wind.

(Yeah! Fight scene! I got here at the best part)

Ebony snickered, leaping at Mariele phasing mid-air. Ebony bit into Mariele's elwbow hard as she could and pulled back, her arm still in Ebony's mouth.

Ria shook with laughter, and nodded in agreement. She despised the leech, and proved it with a feral growl, showing her teeth to the temperamental parasite. Ria howled in encouragement to Ebony, who had engaged Mariele in another fight.

Mariele let herself be dragged along the ground - as much as she hated it, the time it would take to repair her arm was too great - and as Ebony herself pulled her closer, Mariele lunged out with a kick.

Almost timing herself with the howl, Seshalay just renewed her attack on Ria with increased determination.

(I'm not good at fight scenes. I'm good at reacting to others' attacks, but not making my own up.)
