With his head beneath the pillow, he tried his best to calm down. Getting mad and saying things he didn't mean wasn't going to make things better. But it felt like it didn't matter. Everything he said was thrown back in his face. He laid there a few minutes and soon heard the phone buzz again on the table. Samuel glared at the device. A part of him didn't even want to answer it. What could Micha want to say to him now? Judging by his last text he wanted nothing more to do with him. His curiosity soon got the better of him. Pushing himself up, he shuffled towards the table and picked up his phone. He read the angry message, practically hearing the male scream in his ear. He was certain had they been talking face to face, he would have a nice hand print on his face by now. Thank God for small favors.
Samuel took his phone back to bed with him. He laid there a full minute trying to come up with something. When words failed him he allowed his anger to take over, "Then what do you want me to say? I ******** UP. I know that. I've apologized. I'll even say it again, I'm sorry! And you know what, I ******** love you. You are my goddamn soulmate and I can't stop saying how sorry I am that I ******** up." Samuel hit send and closed his eyes. A wave of emotion passed over and the need to cry was stronger then ever. He wished Micha was here, to hold him in his arms and make a better apology.

It didn’t take long before his meal arrived. He wasn’t much of a coffee drink, but had opted for it compared to orange juice. Micha poured a few sugar packets and creamers into his coffee. The smell was bittersweet, just how he liked it. He took a few sips and thanked the waitress for bringing his meal. Micha sighed he was angry and frustrated. He ate his meal slowly, not really tasting it but it filled the small void for now.
As he sat there, his phone buzzed beside him on the table. Micha picked up the phone reading over the text. He read the text over a few times. Finally he got the courage and looked through his contacts. He picked Samuel’s and held it to his. Micha pushed his plate aside, no longer hungry. He waited hoping Samuel would answer, if not then it would be the answer he needed.

After sending a message like that, he wouldn't be surprised if Micha decided not to contact him anymore. He laid there with his eyes closed stewing in his own emotions. There was nothing more he could say to make this better or to go away. He deserved all of this and he knew that. Samuel curled into a ball away from his phone. The room was silent. Save for the hum of the air conditioner. A few minutes passed and still nothing. He was sure that Micha was done with him.
When his phone rang, Samuel reached behind him without looking at the contact. He figured given the time of day it must have been Nicolas, wanting to confirm their meeting place for later. "What do you want, Nicolas?" he asked, in an uninterested tone. He waited to for a response. "Hello?" came his next question when he still heard nothing.

Sitting there waiting for the phone to connect seemed like hours. In reality it was merely seconds. Micha had hoped for a different set of words, not someone else’s name. He was stunned for a second, before putting everything together. ”Nicolas, if only that were my name Samuel…” Micha spoke shifting in his seat. He leaned against the wall in the booth. ”Maybe next time check to see who calls before saying the wrong name…” Micha spoke a little harshly. He was ready to hang up but was giving Samuel the benefit of the doubt.

Samuel laid there waiting for a response. He was about to hang up, thinking it to be a wrong number when Micha's voice came onto the line. Opening his eyes, he sat up. The male spoke again and he had to bite his lip to keep from blurting out any nonsense before thinking. "Sorry. I'm supposed to be meeting my business partner later. I thought you might be him calling." he replied. He there staring at the sheets, wondering what he had called for. He could take a few guesses but he didn't want to anger him anymore than he already had. "S-so.....how are you?" he asked curiously. Stupid question but he was stalling. He wanted to keep the male on the line for as long as he possibly could. If this was the last he was going to speak with him, he wanted to make the most of it.

As he sat there, he waited for Samuel to respond. Hearing his voice allowed him to calm down a little. MIcha understood how Samuel had mistaken him for someone else, still it bothered him. However there was no reason to be jealous, if Nicolas was merely Samuel’s business partner in Paris. He sat there hearing movement in the phone. Micha heard Samuel question him. He sighed a little, ”How do you think I’m doing Samuel?” Micha spoke a little annoyed into the phone. He was not feeling great about anything.

At this point it was stupid to ask about feelings. But it was more habit than anything. Damn phone etiquette. As he explained the reason behind why he thought he was someone else, he could almost hear the relief. It wasn't surprising and he wasn't offended if Micha thought that Nicolas was the man he had slept with. Samuel couldn't help smirking a bit at the males next remark. Any other time, he would have given him a smartass response. But he was still hoping to keep him on the line. "Like you're glad there's an ocean between us otherwise we'd both end up being a special feature on Dateline." he replied honestly. Samuel was quiet for a moment, his free hand plucking at the bedspread. "What happens now?" he asked. If Micha was going to dump him, he'd rather he do it now. Break his heart, string him out to dry, etc. He deserved it all.

Waiting for a response, Micha worked on paying his bill. He had eaten about a few bites of the omelette and wasn’t willing to eat anymore. Micha had lost his appetite in the last five seconds. He thanked the waitress as he pulled his wallet from his pocket. MIcha placed a few bills on the table and left. He started down the street, only stopping on a bench. Micha sat back down knowing if he walked anymore, it would only angry him. Listening to Samuel’s voice, he rolled his eyes. Take it upon Samuel to make a joke of the situation. He leaned back as he ran a hand through his hair. ”What happens now is all up to you?...I said I would only be here if you needed me Samuel...I love you but I can’t trust you right now.” Micha spoke as he closed his eyes. The fear of losing Samuel was already happening. He knew Samuel had been with different men, but so had he. However he had never cheated on any of his partners. A few thoughts came to mind, one's he was not willing to voice right now.

In all honesty that wasn't a joke. He really did think that Micha might consider causing him bodily harm for cheating. After all their talks of the what-if, it was never intended to actually happen. He didn't know what Micha might do to him where they standing face-to-face having this conversation. When he spoke again, he was at a lose for words. He didn't want it left up to him. He would rather Micha yell at him, punish him, something. He was taking this too calmly. "I don't want to break up with you." he said softly. And that was the truth. Cheating on Micha was stupid and irresponsible of him. He didn't mean to hurt him but he did. He felt like s**t and just wanted this whole mess to end. He bit his bottom lip and closed his eyes. As he sat there, it dawned on him. Apart from the actual cheating he had yet to give his side of the story. Would Micha even want to hear about that? Or would it all just sound like one excuse? Even as he recalled it all, it sounded like one to him. Alcohol didn't excuse for cheating. "I understand that you can't trust me. I never trusted any of my ex's again when they cheated on me. So believe me, I do get it. What happened was a mistake and I can't apologize enough. I do need you. I've needed you since the day we met.....just please, let's not end this." Samuel couldn't help it as the emotion crept into his voice. He was slowly but surely losing his composure. He could feel his heart breaking with every word. He really messed this one up.

It was easy to think this was a joke. He couldn’t resist the urge to want to scream and yell but he didn’t. The thought would do him no good. By Samuel cheating on him, it only proved how far they had come. Micha knew Samuel would want to break up with him, but for the moment he didn’t know if they should continue. As he listened to Samuel he knew he didn’t want it to end. Micha didn’t want that either. He loved Samuel, he wanted to just forget it ever happened but he couldn’t. ”Then why?...Give me one good reason why I should just forget it even happened.” Micha questioned, he was willing to start over if he had a good reason.

Samuel sat there sniffling and trying his damnedest to keep from breaking into a thousand pieces. Fat tears fell from his lashes and on to the bed beneath him as he hung his head. His hand was wrapped tightly around the phone. His throat felt tight and dry as the Sahara. He was screwing this up. This was his big moment to make amends and all he could do was sit here and cry about it. He was the very definition of pathetic. When the male spoke he shook his head. "I don't know." he croaked. "I don't have any good reason that you should forget this. You shouldn't forget this." Samuel was at his breaking point. Tears flooded his eyes, streaming down his cheeks. He sniffling, feeling angry at his own stupidity. It was all he could do not to wail like a child.

Listening to the background sounds on the other end, Micha knew Samuel was crying. It hurt to listen to him. He felt like doing his own crying but he wasn’t going to. Micha was angry beyond the pain. Receiving an answer from Samuel, he knew the answer he had been hoping for wasn’t the right one. It was stupid to ask, but he couldn’t resist. He was already up and moving, as his feet took him back toward the subway. MIcha knew he needed to see Samuel. He couldn’t let this be it. Micha wasn’t going to wait a month or however long it would be for Samuel to return. ”If you love me, then wait for me.” He spoke, before hanging up. Micha had to get home to pack, and he needed to get a plane ticket tonight.

He really and truly felt as though he had just given up the best thing to ever happen to him. He sat there wallowing in his own pathetic mess, waiting for some kind of response. The seconds felt like hours and he just knew the words he dreaded most were coming. On Micha's end he could hear a bit more noise, assuming he must have gone out in the city. He listened to the male walk through the streets, the voices of passing people coming and going before shifting into an echoing mess of noise. Samuel clung to his phone hoping the male was going to say something. After what must have been a full three minutes he got his answer. He wasn't given a chance to say anything else as the line went dead. Dropping his phone he stared at it blankly. What did he mean by that? Wait for him? Certainly not until he came back to New York. That would could be weeks, a month even.
Samuel sniffled again and slowly rose to go wash his face. The mirror reflected that of a broken man. His face was slightly red, his eyes were listless, and his heart felt like it was one beat away from dying. He splashed a bit of water on his face, but it didn't make him feel any better. Damn Avery. Damn him and his career. The man could burn in hell for all he cared. Samuel shuffled back into his bedroom and laid down, staring at his phone as though it may ring once more. While he laid there, he allowed the emotions he'd been holding back to once again wash over him. He closed his eyes and drifted a bit as the tears ran down the side of his nose.

Hanging up on Samuel, he knew he had left him with so many unanswered questions. Micha didn’t care right now, he needed to get back home and pack. Waiting a month was not going to happen, he would only drive himself more crazy. It didn’t take long to get home, at least his hour by subway. As he entered his house, he went straight up stairs. He grabbed a suitcase from the top shelf in his closet. Micha started to rip a few outfits from his closet, stuffing them into the suitcase. The last to pack was his underwear, and socks. He didn’t worry about anything else as he zipped up the bag.
Checking to see if he had everything, Micha left his house. He opted for a taxi as compared to the subway to get to the airport. It would be much faster. After an hour almost of driving, he arrived at the airport. Paying the driver, he ran inside with his suitcase. He check in counter as he paid for a ticket. Micha checked the time to see he had less than five minutes for the next plane to take off. He left running through the airport toward the terminal after he checked in his bag.
Getting onto the plane he barely made it, as they were just about to close the door. Micha thanked the flight attendant as he went to take his seat. He felt the pain of running through the airport start to take over. His knee was still not completely healed, but he didn’t care. The pain was worth it as he sat in his seat, buckling himself in.

The whistling mystical ringtone broke the silence of his hotel room. Samuel jerked awake as the theme to The X-Files played beside his head. His room had grown dark and he felt more tired than before his nap. Sitting up slowly, he rubbed his eyes and looked at his phone to see who was calling. The name NICOLAS with a picture of the man's face filled his screen. Samuel slid his thumb over the screen, figuring he ought to answer it. "Hello" "Sam? This is Sam, right? Are you okay? We were supposed to meet for dinner....but it's already been over an hour."It took Samuel longer than it should have to realize what the male had said. When the words did register, he made a small noise of surprise. An hour he said. He pulled his phone back and sure enough it was already a quarter after nine. "Oh man.....I'm sorry Nick. I wasn't feeling that great and ended up falling asleep. I'm really sorry, I should have sent a text or called." "Hey, it's fine. I'm just glad you're alive. We eat another night. Honestly, you sound awful. Maybe too much excitement or something since you got here. Let's just call it a night. I'll talk to you later this week. Rest up man."
After a few awkward goodbyes, Samuel soon hung up. He was relieved that Nicolas had been so understanding and was willing to let him off the hook. Because in all honesty, he didn't have it in him to go anywhere. After he had stopped crying, he had fallen asleep. In his depressed state, he dreamed of how exactly Micha planned on breaking up with him. He told him to wait. Maybe he was coming to Paris to kill two birds with one stone; break-up with Samuel and stay in the city he loved most. It wouldn't be too surprising if that was the case. In fact it made perfect sense. The weight of his depression pushed a little harder, making him more miserable. He checked his phone again, as if expecting a message from Micha to just magically appear. He hadn't heard anything since he hung up. He hoped he was okay.
Sitting on the bed, his stomach decided it was time to remind him of his bodily needs. It had been hours since he last ate. And even then it wasn't enough to fill him. Throwing his legs over the side of the bed, he picked up the room service menu and read it twice over. It all sounded great. Too bad his stomach felt as though it were filled with stomach and he had no appetite. He left the menu on the table and crawled back into bed, waiting.
