Crossbows were banned in some kingdoms because they created an unfair advantage over highly trained soldiers. The royals couldn't stand the idea of lowly peasants sniping their best knights with little more than a day of training.
So, the crossbow is also an outlaw's weapon.

Darkened Angel Crossbows were banned in some kingdoms because they created an unfair advantage over highly trained soldiers.
