I don't remember much of it besides some small (but perhaps defining?) parts.
And I think it was Chinese, but I'm not positive.
But I remember this guy left home to go set up a business with colleagues but it burnt down. When he returned home no one was there. Then for some reason he was captured and was going to be decapitated. But at the last second the executioner lets him make a break for it. But the twist is that he actually WAS beheaded and it was actually his ghost/soul. And he returns home again and there's his daughter or something. And she can only see him when he's in candlelight.
