Tony laughed as water hit him from Loki’s own dive. Pulling on his own goggles, Tony followed Loki slowly. Looking around and adjusting to the water, Tony spotted what could be a reef a few yards off. ‘This way babe.’ He called over the bond, setting off with long, powerful strokes. Tony was a wonderful swimmer, and he loved swimming in the ocean. He may not have looked as graceful as possible, but he was fast and efficient. The reef wasn’t as bright or colorful as some, but it was still a sight to see, strange formations coming up from the sea bed, fish darting in and out of coral.

Loki was a bit disappointed that he didn't see any bright colored fish as soon as he had dived down. The way the shows he had watched made it sound like there would be reefs and fish everywhere. Finding Tony when he heard the man speak through the bond calling him towards somewhere, the god followed. He too was a surprisingly good swimmer. More graceful but maybe not as powerful as Tony was in his strokes. As soon as they reached the reef the bond flooded with excitement. Loki didn't seem to notice or care that it was not like those he had seen on the television. Surfacing he took a deep breath before diving back down further to get a good view at everything.

The excitement that rushed across the bond was met by amusement. “Don’t touch anything.” Tony reminded gently, slowly following the god down for a better look. Turning in lazy spirals as fish swam around them, Tony smirked. So it seemed that his little trip to the island would go over as a resounding success with Loki. In truth, Tony was far more interested in Loki’s reactions as he swam than in the reef. The god was just so beautiful when he was intrigued and happy, and Tony was proud of the fact that that expression had been showing up more and more the longer they were together.

'I will not touch anything. I do not wish to disturb them.' Loki answered back across the bond. Loki's head kept moving as he tried to follow the movements of all the fish he could see and look at everyone of them. A smile was plastered to his face as he moved over the reef exploring what he could. He was surprised more and more as he discovered some fish he had seen on the television and others he knew nothing about. He even found an octopus who had blended into the coral. As soon as Loki got too close it revealed itself and swam of much to Loki's amazement.

Tony stayed close, occasionally pointing out something interesting for Loki to look at or offering up little snippets of information that he could remember about one thing or another. For the most part he stayed on or near the surface, letting Loki dive back and forth as he wanted. He also kept an eye out for any trouble that might come their way. He was sure they wouldn’t have a problem, but he wanted to make sure his mate was safe. Eventually he felt comfortable enough to turn over, floating on his back and closing his eyes, just enjoying the relatively warm water and the sun shining down on them.

Loki listened to Tony whenever the man showed him something or fed him information on a creature. It was good that Tony kept an eye out for danger because Loki had not even considered it a possibility. Loki continued to surface and dive for well over an hour using the snorkel some times to regain his breathing. Finally he surfaced for good with a bright grin on his face. The god would have liked to stay down for longer but he felt exhausted and his chest ached a bit from holding his breath too long.

When Loki finally surfaced for more than a gulp of air, Tony smiled over at him, still floating along contently. Turning over and swimming to the god’s side, he wrapped an arm around the man, still treading water to make sure he didn’t go down or pull Loki under. “Enjoy yourself?” he asked teasingly, kissing Loki’s cheek softly. He couldn’t hide the fond look in his eyes as he saw how happy Loki was. And to think, all he really had to do was take him swimming with some fish. Maybe he’d look into an aquarium trip soon.

Loki smiled seeing Tony on his back and then moving towards him. He treaded water with Tony when the man wrapped his arm around him and then kissed his cheek. "I did thank you." Loki answered when his mate asked if he enjoyed himself. "Have you enjoyed it?" he questioned. Loki realized then that he had been so focused on the reef he hadn't checked to see if Tony was enjoying himself.

Tony hummed slightly at the thanks. He really didn’t need any thanks for this, it wasn’t like he’d done much. “Oh I enjoyed myself. It’s relaxing, being in the water.” He said softly before grinning. “And it was rather funny to see you look like a kid in a candy store.” He added. “Come on, lets get to shore. If we hurry, we could probably beat the first mate’s boat.’ He added with a wink. He’d asked the first mate to take the small motorboat on the yacht to shore when they headed carrying dry clothes, towels, blankets, and some food for them to relax on the beach with.

Loki looked relieved hearing that Tony had indeed enjoyed himself and relaxed in the water. Hearing that he looked like a child in a candy store Loki flushed in embarrassment. He knew he had been overly excited about the fish but they had nothing like them on Asgard, nothing that small and colorful anyway. Looking back to the boat as Tony issued the challenge of beating the first mate's boat to shore the god smirked. "Ready, set, go!" Loki called before he separated himself from Tony to swim to the shore.

Tony laughed as Loki shot off and he followed as quickly as he could. They managed to make it to the shore a minute or two before the first mate touched down, though Tony was already stretched out on the sand, trying to catch his breath, not caring about the sand that would inevitably cling to him. Smiling at the first mate as he stepped out of the boat to hand them their things, he thanked the man, but made no effort to get up. He really was getting too old for this. The man stretched out a blanket well up on the shore in case of high tide and placed there things there before heading back to the yacht, reminding Tony of the sat phone in the basket for when they were ready to come back. The first mate, for all his professionalism, was unable to hide his amusement at the appearance of his boss acting like a romantic teenager with his new lover.

Loki laughed as he heard Tony laugh when he shot off for the shore. He could hear his mate behind him but he didn't slow. He was pleased to reach the shore just before the first mate. Standing in the water he looked out to the sea and the islands surrounding them. This was what he had wished for in Asgard so long ago when he had run. A place to escape everything and just be carefree. He had never imagined that he would find it on Midgard but he was happy he had with Tony. Turning back to the beach he finally stepped out of the water and to the blanket that had been laid out once the first mate had left. He would dry off and then search out wood for a fire.

Once Tony felt like he wasn’t dying anymore, he slowly slipped back into the water for a moment, trying to shake off some of the sand clinging to him. Slowly coming to shore again, he stripped off his shirt, glancing around once more to make sure no one but Loki was around to see. Stretching out on his stomach, Tony pillowed his head on his arms, though he continued to watch Loki. “Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?’ he asked lightly. "You look like one of those marble statues you'd see in a museum. And you are ridiculously graceful, even swimming. It's almost unfair."

Loki looked to Tony when the man moved. He couldn't help but admire the way his mate looked with the sun causing his skin to glow with the water. When the man stripped his shirt off Loki gave a soft hum of appreciation. He shifted to face the genius when the man lay down but gave a confused noise when the man spoke. "Tony..." Loki protested lightly. He didn't know what to say to the man about such things.

Tony smiled softly at the protest from his mate. He knew how unused to compliments Loki was, but Tony was going to make up for all the time he’d gone without. Reaching out, he rubbed Loki’s thigh gently, massaging the muscles there. “You’re gorgeous Lo.” He murmured. After a moment, he shifted, pushing himself up and pulling Loki down into a kiss.
