The beetles were starting to close in on Andreas.
He had better start running.

Andreas was backpedaling rapidly, throwing back any beetle that came too close until he could slam the door. Even after it was shut, he turned and kept running.
"Let's get the hell away from those!" he 'suggested,' sprinting past Henry and up the stairs. Evidently, he did not like the oversized bugs.

A single beetle managed to make it through the door before Andreas slammed it shut.
Loud, thumping noise could be heard slamming against the door as Andreas ran from it. The single beetle followed closely behind Andreas, it showed no threat on it's own.
When everyone was about half-way up the stairs, one last thump could be heard, followed by a sizzling noise.
Ro looked back to see a small hole being burned through the door by some sort of orange acid.
"Run faster!" Ro warned as he made it to the top of the stairs.
The beetles began to pour out of the hole in the door as Ro made it to the top and continued their pursuit.

Cains eyes widened with fear, and he barely had time to gasp out a "What do you want from me!" before he scrambled down the stairs in an attempt to reach the exit.

The woman didn't answer but instead scrambled for Cain.

Arthur kept sprinting, taking the stairs three at a time. He paused at the top of a flight to check that everyone was going to make it; if they weren't, he was going to go back and do something. The fear was difficult to overcome; he wasn't a soldier or a firefighter or anything, but he wasn't gonna let them die.

Ro hopped down past Arthur and kicked a stray beetle that was nibbling gently on his shoe, sending it flying into the wall where it hit with a SPLAT. The orange blood from the beetle began to eat through the wall.

As he bounded up the stairs, Henry found that his hands were shaking. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his lighter and a cigarette. He put it to his lips and lit it as he cleared the landing.
"What are we gonna do?" he asked nervously, anxious to keep moving. He inhaled the majority of the cig, then looked over at the splattered beetle. With a disgusted look, he flicked the cigarette butt at the blood stain.

As the lit butt made contact with the blood stain there was a small spark and then a small flame and then suddenly the entire stain caught fire just as another beetle crossed it.
The flames licked at it's shell and it "popped", sending it's acidic blood flying and allowing it to catch fire as well.
The fire wasn't especially explosive, but it seemed like it definitely wasn't going out soon.
The majority of the beetles steered out of the way, though a few failed to do so and added to the inferno.
"Go to the tower!" Ro said, satisfied with Henry's discovery.

"Well hey now," Henry said with a grin as he began to run again. He pulled out another cigarette and lit it deftly. "Someone smash another so I can light it up!"

Even as Henry spoke, Arthur batted a beetle that flew at him with his Maglight, sending Henry's way.
"Keep moving!" Ro warned, jogging back up the stairs.

Arthur decided that was probably a good idea, and making sure he didn't pull ahead, he set off again with the group. "Can we set down something that will put a fire across the whole thing? Pathway?" he inquired, looking for something that might burn or splat. "If we could crush a large line portion, we could light a large fire and prevent the rest from catching up with us!"

Juliet sat in a little corner-side coffee shop, eating the first food she'd really had most of the day. It was getting dark, and she hadn't eaten anything since breakfast; on her way home she had found herself rather hungry and had stopped by the coffee shop for a little pastry or something.
She did, however, look forward to getting home and sleeping.

((******** kept running. "What the hell would that do? It's not like their shells are flammable!" He spat his cig at the one Arthur had hit as he went by.
