You know, my reading class has a word of the day every day too! But they are easy words like, "manuever", "penetrate", and "luminous."
Friday's word of the day was cantankerous, meaning hard to get along with.

My High School did the same thing my Senior year. They thought that if they had a Word of the Day, or Word of the Week, that it would help the students learn new words. Unfortunately, they were already easy enough words. I think they were like "Positive", "Emphasize", "terrible", and etc.

Dobsonfly: A winged insect(family Corydalidae)nthat has very long slinder manibles in the male and large carnivourous aquatic larva, that is considered a neuropteran.
This is what the dictionary said what it is.

I'm pretty sure that's it. It was in my school's first through fourth grade planner a few years back. They have some hard words mixed in with their pansy words.

Unfortunately, yes. I read the dictionary yesterday. My friend actually read the Websters full-size dictionary once, and he did a book report on it!!! eek
|
