 "I'm Jack Rhodes" She gave him a gentle smile, hoping that he wouldn't tip the boat in his excitement. Her parents believed that swimming was a useless skill and had never taught her. "My parents were both Gryffindors, I'm not so sure I would really do too well there though." She knew that her parents would be more than disappointed if she wasn't a Gryffindor, but as long as she wasn't a Slytherin she didn't think their reactions would be too negative. "I would really just like to impress my professors..."

Blake waited for the new arrival to take her seat before addressing to them both. "Nice to meet you Jadyn. And hello Jack. I'm Blake Ethelwine." He said, face apparent of friendliness. "I'm pretty excited myself. My parents were Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs so there's a possiblity for both. Wouldn't mind either house. Actually I wouldn't mind any house really." He said with a slight shrug. He could possibly be the friendliest Slytherin in the house if it wasn't for his pureblood or fiery ambition. Although he has no hopes for Ravenclaw, it was still out there. The sorting hat has made some odd choices before.

"I was mostly just surprised when I got my letter, I was too concerned about that to even really think about houses." She was forcing herself to be as friendly as she could. She knew that she would never make it being away from her brother for a year if she didn't make at least one friend. The people in her boat seemed like a good place for her to start. "The castle seems so much bigger than I ever imagined."

"Really? Did the letter arrive my mail or did someone pay you a visit?" He asked, curiousity building up inside him. As a pureblood, it was expected in his house that he would recieve a letter on his birthday. It was only customary after all. However those who don't come from magical families were visited by a staff member from Hogwarts. That's what he's heard of anyway. Blake glanced back at the castle, then back to Jack with a nod. "Yeah it does. Seems really easy to get lost there. Hopefully they go easy on us first years." He said with a small chuckle.

"It came by owl. My parents are both wizards, my brother's a squib... I always kinda figured I'd be one too..." She looked down at her feet, instantly regretting the decision to tell people about her brother. It's not that she was ashamed of him, but she knew other people didn't feel the same way as she did. Other than him there had never been a non-magical being in her family, the Rhodes bloodline had always been pure, that was most probably why Andrew had been such a disappointment to everyone. "I'm sure I'll be behind all of the other students, especially if their parents taught them any magic at all.

Adele lifted her head up to look at Blake, puzzled and blushing. She chuckled nervously and shook her head, making a few blond curls fall back onto her face. She brushed them away behind her ear, welcoming Jadyn with a friendly, warm smile.
"Adele Dundas." she introduced herself politely with a shy smile, trying to hide the heat rising to her cheeks. She nodded in greetings to Jack Rhodes and looked back to Jadyn.
"I guess I am.", she shrugged casually, crossing her legs as she placed the books and doll firmly on her lap, making sure that they won't get wet nor lost in the water, "I wish I could make Ravenclaw. My mother was sorted there, and so was my Grandmother." she admitted with a nod.

It was weird for Jacqueline to be in a conversation with this many people her own age. To think that she would be spending the next year of her life with these kids was the most baffling thought for her. She had no idea how to talk to the other magical children, she had no cousins and her fourteen year old brother was the only kid she had ever really known. "I heard that the feast is the most brilliant thing you'll ever see. Ma and Da use to always tell me about the feasts." The gentle grumbling in her stomach prodded her into commenting on the food, she hoped that her voice would be able to drown out the embarrassing noises her body was making.

"Everything I know of the houses of Hogwarts comes from the copy of Hogwarts: A History. From what I read, I'll probably end up in Ravenclaw. I'm... a bit of a bookworm and I love puzzling things out."Archades grinned slightly and pointed at the boat below them. "For example, I'm going to try learning the spells that make this boat so stable." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and looked around as the other boats filled up. The young redhead raised his voice.
"We have some room in this boat!" Though I doubt anyone is going to come to it. From what he could see, most of the first years had already gotten in boats.

Jack knew that she could never be a Ravenclaw; it's not that she didn't think she was intelligent enough to be one, no, it was because she couldn't stand know it alls. She didn't think that anyone was better than anyone else simply because they had read a book. "Yeah." She nodded at this boy, cringing when he called out to the other students.

Blake showed no signs of disgust when Jack told them that her brother was a squib. I mean so what? Maybe it's a surprise to the parent's but it shouldn't be anyone else's business about it. "That's not true Jack. I bet you'll do great." He said with a small reassurance. "The feasts sure sound great don't they? It must be loads of work for all the house-elves to make all that food." There seemed to be a lot of studious students in this bunch. "That's cool Archades. Did you already study a bit for the start of term? The last part, more of to the general party. "I looked through the books a bit myself."

Jack was quickly growing to enjoy Blake's company, a strange feeling for her, and she certainly hoped that she would be able to make friends with him. "Thank you," she gave him a quick smile before looking back to the rest of the boat. "I wonder what it's gonna be like to live here."

 Morvin Varren No one was talking to Morvin but he didn't really care about that. He was more fixated on the girl in the other boat, the Giovanni girl. Also, he didn't want someone of a lower breed to talk to him anyways. He sighed heavily and part of the child in him actually did wish someone would talk to him or pretend they cared. But he was a Varren, and they had a long linage of pure-blooded heritage and they shunned anyone who didn't adhere to that. His condition won out over his inner child and he steeled himself against the urges to talk to those in his boat.

  "My dad was in Ravenclaw. Mum was a Gryffindor. Judging by those books you have I'm guessing you like to read, so yeah I think Ravenclaw would be a good fit for you," Jadyn said, grinning at Adele. He turned towards Jack and Blake. "I heard that, too! I can't wait until we can dig in to some of that amazing food. I sure am hungry." He laughed. Thinking on it, he realized just how hungry he was. Sitting at a feast with more delicious food than you could hope to eat seemed much more appealing than sitting here in the frigid air waiting on the rest of the first years and knowing that they still had to make their way across the lake. "I'm sure living here will be a blast. The castle is supposed to be incredible."

"How much longer do you think they'll keep us in the cold? I'd hate for someone to get sick from the chill." Jack mused absent-mindedly, mostly to herself. She messed with the hem of her skirt, finding it extremely strange that she was forced to wear one. Her mother hated skirts and had never dressed her in one before.

Blake gave a small nod to Jack, addressing the matter silently. He was sure she didn't want to talk about it out in the open anymore. Blue green eyes scanned the boat in the glowing darkness. There was a boy he failed to see and it looked as if he wasn't really interested in talking to anyone. "Hello there." Blake was looking at Morvin but wasn't quite sure if he would say anything back. It was if he was locking his self inside a pride which could only belong to purebloods. Well no matter, the boy will speak to him if he so wishes. No hard feelings on Blake. "I bet there are loads of secret passageways. After all, the castle is enormous. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a single one in the castle." He stated, returning his attention to those whom he was aquainting himself with. Jack seemed rather fidgety with her skirt and couldn't tell if that was because of the cold weather or her uneasiness in one. "Yea, although I bet once inside. Hogwarts, I mean. Then everyone will be warm. Are you cold right now?"
