Imagine if Daikatana wasn't delayed then.

And solar, have you played Melee? Silly question, but the reason why it's hyped to the max is because its predecessors are simply amazing.

I have played Melee, and I got bored, very fast. After the first Smash Bros., I dont think I could have taken any more.

Your game tastes certainly don't mirror those of the general gaming community because a vast section of the community loved the SSB series.

How could you get bored playing melee? It was like the most amazing fighting gam ever! Classic characters, cool moves, melee has it all, kind of.

You can use solar's broken argument for almost ANY game. All you do in Assassin's Creed is stab people. All you do in Halo is shoot people. All you do in pokemon is make them hit each other. All you do in Tekken is fight people. It gets so boring blah blah blah.

Well this is coming from a guy who thinks Assassin's Creed is the God of 360 games. rolleyes (edit)Because of this, his opinion on any video ever is null.

Personally, I dont see what all the fuss is about Brawl. Its basically just Melee all over again, with slightly better graphics and some different characters. Sure, it's cool to have all the characters from different games fight each other, but gets boring after about, oh I dont know, 5 seconds? Seriously, do we need this much hype about a fighting game? I think not.

Melee all over again?Um,I don't recall Melee being Wi-fi compatible xd

Well, some of Nintendo's best games ended up being delayed (especially from the Zelda series...). I hope that the extra three months makes the game that much better... or else.

Let's see what they've announced so far, though... 24 characters (more are coming...), 20 stages (ditto), engaging single-player mode, Wi-fi, expanded multi-player options, challenge mode, stage builder, multiple music selections per stage, SD card compatibility, compatibility with multiple controllers, collectible items, bells and whistles, a few more things, and Wi-fi.
[Yeah, that text block is just there to make everyone more impatient.]

New question:

What characters does eveyone plan to use as their main combatant, and which controller style?

Game cube: The old pro

Retro controller: The new pro

Wii remote+Nunchuck: the good friend

Side ways wiimote: The casual aquitance.

All of them work very well accoridng to the magazines, but it all depends on your own personal style.

I'm 95% sure that the GCN/retro controllers will be the best ((GCN will most likely still be competition standard)), Wii Remote + Nunchuck will be alright, but at top tier battling, will see no use, and the sideways wiimote will just be a gimmick.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:07 pm
The main problem with the last two is as follows:

Wiimotte and nunchuk: Jumping. You have to hit the up directional button. Kind of out of the way for most people.

Sideways wii remote: Blocking is the B button, again kind of out of the way.

Exactly. When you're playing in a real hardcore match, you're going to want the better control, so the tournaments are probably all just going to use the GCN controller (It looks better than the retro one)
PostPosted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:17 pm
I read the retro has a more responsive feel to it, more so that GCN. Its really only a little change, all someone has to do is proactice with it a bit and I should think they would do just as well as they could of don.e

P.S. Anyone know how to do wave dashing in melee? I never played melee hardcore, so I wouldn't know XD

There's a video on youtube called "super smash bros advanced techniques" (or something like it) that's in 2 parts, that's really well done. If you find it, it shows you a whole bunch of stuff like wave dashing, teching, low jumping etc.
