Personality: Vryheid is… well… he’s a cub and does all things cubbish. In other words, as cutely as possible. But, he does have a slightly more evil side… he’s jealous, possessive, self-centered, and just a bit of an a**, even at his young age. He’s not really ‘evil’… he just doesn’t realize that his behavior could harm someone else. He’s rather rough with his siblings (especially little Ichtaca) and just doesn’t seem to understand that biting someone just because they don’t want to play is a bad thing.

Personality: Hardly the most proper princess, Lara is spunky and adventurous. The world is a giant plaything to her, something to explore and have fun with. Because she was raised in such a protective cloistering environment, she has trouble with the idea that anything might hurt her. Above all else, she is trusting, especially where her cousin is concerned. She absolutely adores her cousin, Atasaidia, completely oblivious to the idea that he is less than warm towards her. She doesn’t just ‘love’ him; she ‘luffles’ him, which is a good deal worse.

History: Lara’s old pride had an extremely unique way of dealing with the question of who received the throne after the death of the royals. The throne would not go to the children of the royals, but to the children of their oldest children. The queen’s blessing was required, for a reason that no one could recall. A bit strange, but it had always worked, so there was no reason to change it. Ayira was a wise old queen, but she and her mate had trouble conceiving. Eventually, they produced one son, Ngozi. Several seasons later, they had Katlego, another male. There was much rejoicing.

But, Ngozi didn’t go through with his royal obligations to produce a family. Instead, he focused on his training as a warrior. Katlego settled down into mated life early on and he and his mate had a single son, Atasaidia. Since Ngozi had no children, it seemed like a sure thing that Atasaidia would one day get the throne. But, something happened that no one expected…

Ngozi found the love of his life and had a daughter, Ololara who was truly born at the perfect time to receive her queen-grandmother’s blessing. One day, the little princess would become queen.

Atasaidia, however, was not about to lose his birth-right so easily. He hatched a plan, to lead the little princess into a nearby forest and abandon her there. Then he would get into a fight with a rogue, a fight that he would surely lose. Beaten black and blue, he knew that everyone would believe that he had fought to the bitter end to save his cousin’s life. And, to prevent any other children of Ngozi’s from receiving Ayira’s blessing, he hired a rogue to poison her.

All would be in place…

But, Ngozi caught the rogue and tortured the truth out of him. When Atasaidia returned to the pride after abandoning Lara, he realized that, sooner or later, the truth would come out. Feeling fear for the first time, he returned to Lara and took her with him. If the old pride ever caught up, he knew, Lara would be a useful bargaining chip.

Personality: Taj is an exuberant and outgoing cub. He’s never been content to just sit there and let things happen around him. He has to be the catalyst! Pun fully intended, because he rather enjoys stupid puns like catalyst. He’s a natural leader who will definitely try to convince other cubs to join him in his quest to cause trouble everywhere, and spread chaos to the unwilling masses. Mostly, he just wants to play and have fun. Extremely loyal, he will follow his friends to the end of the earth. And then go back, because that was so awesome!

Personality: Kamau is a rather skittish little creature. Sudden movements---or sounds---startle him easily. He’s not keen on trying new things and tends to be extremely shy. With adequate coaxing, he may be persuaded to try something new, but that’s mostly because he doesn’t want to let anyone down. He’s painfully aware of who his father is---and what his father tried to do---and tries to do everything he can to prove he isn’t like his dear ol’ dad. This means he tries to please everyone. He may be a small and weak coward but, damnit, he does his best.

When push comes to shove, however, he will fight. Not exactly bravely, mind you, but he does try. He loves his pride and home with all of his heart, even if some of the other pride members look at him all funny-like.

Akoko, his bonded, is rarely far from his side. Quite the opposite of her cub, the falcon is an excitement-seeker and often tries to persuade Kamau to do something interesting. “Go on, explore those caves! What’s the worse that could happen?” and similar things often leave her beak. It would seem strange that such a bird would be bonded to Kamau, but… well, Akoko seems to like the arrangement.

History: Oh man… there’s so much. Long story short, Msiba and his little entourage came into the Aka’mleli with one intent; to cubnap a seer cub. As they attempted this, Msiba seduced and impregnated Hisia. This… wasn’t what he intended, actually. Anyway! Continue on with the story! Eventually, the other members of the pride learned the truth about Msiba and his group and chased them out.

Personality: Akoko is Kamau’s bonded. His constant companion, friend, and confidante throughout life… and she tries her best to live up to that lofty task. It’s tricky sometimes though. While Kamau is happy enough to stay at home and curl up for a nice long nap, Akoko is rarely happy unless it involves a death-defying leap from a proverbial cliff. Luckily for her, she can fly. And, also luckily for her, Kamau is pretty easy to talk into things. She is fiercely loyal to the cub and will brook no harm towards him. This feisty little falcon doesn’t look like much of a fighter, but she is a scrapper; anything trying to tangle with the cub will have to contend with this feathery warrior too.
