Do you know the prophet muhammad tell jokes too, he told an old woman that in paradise there are no old people.

The old woman cried after hearing this but the prophet explained to her that in paradise Allah will give them their youth back.

So based on this I believe jokes are ok as long there is moderation and going not off the line.
haha, that's awesome!

oh and i really like your last statement:

The prophet may likes to tell jokes but he also said that too much laughter can can cause your heart to die.

So, just like I said, moderation.

He said that laughter can cause your heart to die?
I'm curious to know the context. Could you give some lines from the Quran that talk about it?

This was the same problem faced by Jews and other minorities in the past.
To deviate from this problem, you must be better at being a good person than anyone els, hold your head higher, be more sensitive to situations, and don't let people knock you down for your faith.....

I think this is a testing time for all Muslims....the question is...what are we going to do about it?

are we going to be willing to adapt our faith to the world of today and the future or are we going to be hung up in the past, stuck on only following rules and tradition?

Look around us. The world is rapidly changing. How long are we going to keep up some of our practices simply for the sake of Tradition?

I think praying to Allah takes more prevalence than following archaic traditions.

I like the first part of your post..........and then it went down hill........

The Qur'an was written for all time. So it doesn't matter that times are changing.

Oh by the way that video was hilarious. I'm going to watch more similar videos.

He said 'too much' laughter can kill your heart because when you laugh too much you will forget everything around you, what other people feel and your sensibility. In Islam it's okay to be happy but you have to look back at what you did so you can ask for Allah forgiveness

scientifically proven? show me a reputable website. I demand proof.

And why the heck should you ask your God for forgiveness because you are happy? That is just plain stupid in my opinion. God shouldn't be mad because you're happy. You can enjoy life with God and be happy with God.
"forget everything around you because you laugh" what kind of bullshit is this? Seriously, this sounds messed up.

though i do not have sources but...

Quote:
You can breath and you pass out. In extreme cases death could happen because your diaphragm (muscle that moves the lungs so that you breath) becomes 'tired' and won't contract even after you have passed out. That is very rare. Having a heart attack and laughing is probably because it is so painful that your brain become confused with all the pain signals and mistakes them as 'happy' signals.

Quote:

What exactly is laughter? As HowStuffWorks explains, laughter is a physiological response that's triggered by the limbic system, or the part of the brain that governs motivation and emotional behaviors. During laughter, the epiglottis constricts the larynx, restricting our ability to breathe. That's why a really good joke can sometimes seem pretty dangerous -- but thankfully the breathing instinct always wins in the end.

I was actually hoping for for something from a medical website.
But it doesn't say that laughing hard is dangerous. Your involuntary reflexes have priority over a happy feeling and laughing, which is voluntary.

Which means:

A) it is so rare that it is barely recorded and only a known few cases of people laughing died.

B) that theory is total bullshit and you guys should have your theories looked at

First of all, jokes are not forbidden, some jokes are forbidden ( that talk about Allah, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) or anything that concerns it). A laugh is good, but too much laughter is not really that nice.

If you really want to laugh, there are millions of things that can make you laugh besides religon. And some jokes about religon is good, such as Prophem Mohammad's ( PBUH ) jokes, they don't harm Islam or mock it! Laugh about Islam, but in a good way. Laugh about people who mock Islam, but don't get aside with them. Yes, Allah loves us to be happy. But sometimes, things that makes us happy, are bad things, ex. smoking. I'm not saying laughter is like smoking ( it's only a respond to Ratri-Cat ) , but too much is not you know, like ok! Laughter is a good way to ease up pain and worry, it's a really nice thing to keep happy and alive. Laughter isn't a bad thing! But the subject onwhich you are laughing, is the main argument, we're not saying, do not laugh, it's a bad thing, no, it's ok to laugh. But laugh on good things, because sometimes jokes can be considered as mocking someone. Do you want to get in the mistake of mocking your own religon? I'm not saying your mocking them, just being careful. * Whoever gets near fire, falls in it *. So it's just being careful, if you want a good laugh, just watch a comedy film, doesn't necessarly need to be about Islam!

You know, I learnt the * Whoever gets near fire, falls in it * from my Islamic religon teacher. She is a great teacher ( May Allah protect her from Shaytan ). Anyways, the lesson was about Practicing forbidden relationships, *Nor come nigh to adultery: for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil, opening the road (to other evils). * Al-Isra' Verse (32) "I got this translation from www.harunyahya.com translated by Yusuf Ali"

So there was a question; why did Allah say, do not come near it, why didn't he say, don't do it or don't practice it? So our teacher said, that means that Allah forbids everything that makes the great sin happen ( ex. Girls and boys being together in the same room, not wearing Hijab and parents not rasing their children well ) Then she said write this down: " Whoever gets near fire, falls in it ". So from there, I applied this phrase to anything, it includes Hijab; Zaaki, jokes, or even black magic. Fire is the sin, and if you get near it, by doing the things that may get near this sin, you may fall it it. That's just the reason why I love this phrase, because you can apply it on many issues.

My answer was only for Zaaki, please don't turn the lights from Jokes, our subject was about jokes. So as I said, jokes are not forbidden, just keep away from things that may mock islam or harm it. And Allah will always forgive my brothers and sisters, never give up the hope of him forgiving all of our sins inshallah.
