[PRP]A Day for Cubs(Ubele, Ufunuo, Dumu, Peke, Kuruka)[FIN]

[Summer Rain 07]

Dumu had been quiet during the whole fight. He knew that he probably should have intervened if it got too out of hand, but he wanted it to play out like it should. He couldn't always get in the way of a fight. He had to continue to remind himself that he was still like them. He was still a cub and he didn't have a right to treat any of them like he was an adult.

He watched as Kuruka ran off, but his mind was too preoccupied with thoughts of his mother that it hadn't registered what she was doing. It wasn't until Peke called out to him that he was snapped out of his thoughts.

Dumu shook his head to the side and quickly ran after his brother, panic over his face. "Kuruka!" He called out as he met his brother and glanced at him apologetically before he looked back to where she had ran.

If anything happened to her again, he knew Peke would blame it on him, and he knew his brother was right. Kuruka had been sitting right next to him during the whole fight. If he had been paying attention, he could have stopped her from straying away from the group before she got too far away. But that didn't happen, and now he was to blame.

-Her paws began to slow as her breathing became more and more ragged from the exercize. One glance back would show her how far she'd gone, but softly she reassured herself. She'd run towards the sun, if... or rather when she got too scared she simply needed to go in the direction away from the sun. Right?

Eventually she'd have to stop and 'hide' and wait, but at the moment the sheer physical strain was enough to keep her mind from lingering to nagging worries and fear. So she continued on her hunt for something lovely, nearly hopping with joy when she spotted it.

Against the dusty colored land a small sprig of wildflowers clung to life. Tiny flowers, showing signs of withering from the recent stress upon them, Kuruka nonetheless padded over to them, settling her bottom on the ground before her paws carefully dusted off the precious bit of color.

Front end following the back, she came to rest with her back facing the sun, her eyes watching the horizon, before they'd drift back to the little flowers. In her mind she pictured the rest of the group appearing on the horizon, laughing and bounding along, naive little thing. Too bad she didn't notice the bit of attention that she'd gained herself.

In the sky behind Kuruka circled some vultures in the lazy heat of the day. At the moment they seemed only to have noticed her with mild interest, only time would tell whether or not the avian would keep their distance, or move in for a bit of entertainment and a meal.-

Dumu raced ahead of his brother, worry plastered over his face especially when Ufunuo had informed them of the vultures. His eyes glanced up and he saw a paw-full of the large foul. He knew they were no match for the oversized avian's.

When he finally caught sight of his sister, he lowered himself to the ground, his ears flat against his head, trying not to bring any unwanted attention to him. "Kuruka... He whispered out, but when she didn't answer, he crawled closer and tried again, "Kuruka, come on, we have to get out of here." He said as he looked up to the sky again. It almost looked like the vultures were closer.

Despite the calls of both of the other cubs Peke did not stop, in fact it made him run faster as his heart began to pump with fear. This was worse, much worse than the cub had every thought imaginable. There wasn't much he could do against vultures, especially a flock of them. A shiver ran down his spine as his brother passed him. This was bad, very very bad. "Kuruka, Dumu!" He called his tone hushed as if his words would simple provoke the scavengers to attack. His movements slowed to a walk as he huffed. "Let's hurry."

He kept a few feet away just in case he would need to bring the attention to himself to protect his sister. He bit down on his bottom lip and shifted his weight from side to side unable to sit still. "Hurry." He urged gaze flickering back and forth from the threat to his siblings.

-When movement was spotted finally, she layed her head down almost comicly, as if trying to hide in the few inches of grass that she naturally towered over. And her grin faded to a perplexed look the closer the figures came.

Sure they were running, but it was not smiles or laughter on their faces, in fact they were acting incredibly weird. Her ears twitched to try and catch the softly spoken words, her body lifting to trot over towards her crouching and creeping brothers.- "You found me!" -She proclaimed loudly, trying to be as enthusiastic as possible, in hopes that it would be contagious.-

"You wanna be the hider now Dumu?"

Dumu glared at his sister. "Shhh Kuruka!" He said in a harsh tone. He brought his paw up to his mouth and hushed his voice. "Kuruka, this is no time to be playing games." He said as he glanced back up to the sky. "We have to get out of here."

He quickly glanced back to Peke, and saw that he was keeping a look out. He looked back to Kuruka. "Listen, were not in the best place to play hide and seek." He said softly, "We need to get out of here and then we can play whatever you want." he gave her a smile, and looked back up to the vultures.

Peke darted forward the second he noticed the change in the way the vultures were moving. He looked panicked unsure of what to do. The only thing he could think of to do at this point was give instructions to the others. "Move it guys! Quick!" He shouted one eye upon the others and the other on the birds. This was bad, very very bad and it was bound to get worse if they didn't hightail it out of the area.

For once Peke had to admit to himself that he wanted and adult nearby to tell them what to do. To fend off the birds that probably found them very snack worth. A shudder ran down his spine as he shook the thought from his mind. "Hurry!" He called with more urgency in his tone as he shifted uncomfortably one more time. Unable to wait any longer he bolted praying that his siblings made it out safely.

-Kuruka's ears fell downward as Dumu's harsh tone sounded. Her paws curled around her flower, slowly forgetting about the little thing as more as the other cubs arrived in similar fashion.

Their fear and nervousness was contagious, and as soon as she was beckoned to, she sprang to her paws, running after the royal cubs and her brothers. Even without getting to play, today had been an eventful day. Now if they could just make it home safe, luckily adreneline was on her side.-

Dumu looked from his brother, to Ufunuo and Ubele. "Kuruka..." he said as he glanced up to see the large birds fly closer to the two of them. "Come on!" He shouted as he quickly ran behind her and started to push her forward until she was able to get to her feet.

He ran to the others, not daring to look back. He kept close to Kuruka as they sped back towards the adults. He could feel his heart beat in his ears, racing almost as fast as he was. He kept his eyes on his siblings. If anything happened to him he wasn't sure what he would do. All he could do was hope that they all could get out unscathed.
