Naamini would have much rather been out here, exploring, than back in the den snuggled up against her family. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy snuggling, because she did, she just liked exploring better. The younger twin tended to rank things like that. Things she enjoyed doing were ranked from best to better to okay, and then the things she didn't like doing from okay down to worst. It had nothing to do with whether the activity was good or bad, only how much she enjoyed it. Exploring was fairly high on her list, a little higher than snuggling, which was the reason she was here and not in the den. Besides, she could always go back to the den whenever the exploration was over or it got too dark. Exploring was limited by the amount of daytime. On the other hand, there was always enough time for snuggles. There was always some ounce of logic in Naamini's actions.
"Things like… well, like some kinds of bugs, little furry creatures and um… I guess some big worms." She gave a small shrug. The younger twin was much more interested in finding little bits of treasure than staring at the wildlife that lived in dark caverns. There certainly weren't any butterflies or birds in here, though, so she knew that Kamau wouldn't be too pleased. Kamau always seemed to like it when she could see the birds. Naamini liked to see the birds too, but she was really waiting for the day that she got her own. For some reason, it felt like it would be a sign of her independence and maturity. Maybe having a bird would make Kamau a little braver too. She could hope.
She grinned when Kamau poked the shiny, and nudged it back towards him with her paw. "It looks shiny enough to me! And we should… since we're here. Don't want to have to make two trips." Naamini squinted into the darkness and spotted something else loose, and gave it a nudge with her nose. "Shiny number two! You take that one, I'll take this one." She picked up the shiny in her mouth and trotted proudly back to her brother. "Rddy?"

Just as Naamini had suspected, the distinct lack of butterflies and birds was getting to Kamau. His nose wrinkled at the idea of the bugs that existed in here… uegh. And he couldn’t even see them! Now that was disturbing. One particularly terrifying bug, a black and yellow flying thing, stood out in his mind. He had been innocently running through some lovely flowers when suddenly there was this black and yellow thing chasing him! And it hurt him! For days after that, he had a horrible tummy ache and refused to go outside, for fear of encountering more bees. Hopefully there weren… actually… he put on his Concerned Face as he realized that he had absolutely no way of knowing whether or not there were any bees in here.
But… they were already almost done. They had to finish what they came here for. Besides, if he rushed out, Naamini would be left alone. “I miss seeing birds,” he said softly, as if he hadn’t just seen birds some fifteen minutes ago when they were outside. Oh, how he dreamed of getting his own bird! So long as it wasn’t a really big scary one, anyway, like a vulture. Those things terrified him, with their naked faces and cruel beaks. He was shaken out of his scary daydreams only by Naamini’s voice, telling him to pick up the shiny. Nodding, he picked it up in his mouth.
“Yff!” he managed happily around the stone, pleased to be going back out into the open once more. “Mef’s ‘o ‘ome!” He almost stumbled over some rocks in his hurry to get out of the caves.
