Why fight for a right I can easily get somewhere else?

This is what I keep asking you and you keep restating the question neutral If you don't have an answer as to why losing the fight against Prop 8 is so awful when you can just move somewhere else and have that right, then just say so. Fielding my own question back at me and expecting me to answer it is pretty pointless.

If no country offered gay rights I would fight tooth and nail for them, but that is not the case. I can easily get them by leaving a country I don't even like for a country that looks pretty cool to me. My displeasure at the American government has more to it than Bush. I just plain prefer socialism (Britain) to sapitalism (USA).

As do I; I look forward to the bits of socialism that Obama can hopefully give us.

Restating the question in bigger font doesn't make it an answer when it's the same question I keep asking you.

In all respect, you're starting to sound like you're just throwing a tantrum.

Unfortunatly, no. I have to wait 'till I turn 18 for that (I'm 17 1/2). In the mean time I'm just gonna wave around my Union Jacks in eager anticipation. I even made my profile a hotbed of British propaganda and patriotism.

I think I'm gonna end the debate now. I have better things to do than chase myself in circles repeatedly.

It just comes off as really selfish when you say "well I can move to another country that already has the right to marry for gays so why should I have to fight for it here?" I mean, great and good for you that you have the resources to move to another country, but what about the gays here that can't and/or don't want to move? Why should gays have to move to another country just to marry? What, because they can't or don't want to move, then they should just suck it up and deal with the fact that they can't get married just because people don't feel like fighting anymore? It wasn't just you that was denied the right to marry; it was the whole gay community.

I bet it didn't mean a damn thing to you either that Connecticut officially allowed gay marriages starting yesterday either neutral

NO! I refuse to make even more of an idiot of myself than I already have by responding.

Hey is anyone going to any of the www.jointheimpact.com things tomorrow?

I don't have a ride so I can't go to my local protest. >.<

But dammit there's hope left in this little misbegotten nation!

Oh I didn't know about the protests. The one in Toledo, Ohio is in downtown where it's a b***h to find a parking spot, but I might try to go for a while.

Hi all. I'm a little late for this conversation, but I wanted to make sure everyone had an update...I'm sure those in California are probably aware of the following:

The National Center for Lesbian Rights is head counsel in a legal battle to overturn Proposition 8. Arguments for both of the cases I'm mentioning are March 5. The NCLR is arguing that it is unconstitutional to take away a citizen's rights after giving them (from what I understand, and putting it simply).

On the other hand, Ken Starr (PUKE!) has filed a legal briefing to nullify all of the marriages performed while it was legal. I don't think I'm allowed to just post a link here...so if you are interested in learning more let me know and I'll give you a link to a video that was made. It's very moving...I cried. It's called "Don't Divorce Us" and it was made by an organization called Courage Campaign with Regina Spektor's song, Fidelity," in the background. The film is being sent to legislators...and maybe the justices of the state supreme court too. I'm not sure.

I'm pretty fond of living in canada, at least our government is leading us on to believe we still have rights...
