Yeah--he did. **went and reread this morning** It surprised me and didn't surprise me. In vol.4 he was incredibly upset by Diva's reaction to her killing James--I think he finally realized that Diva thinks of them as playthings; expendable, because she can make more. It brought more character to Nathan, in my opinion, because it showed that even he thought more of the others than Diva did. He was repulsed by the fact that she would tear through her own chevalier--one who put her above all else, I might mention--to get to her own ends, and cared nothing for her fallen protector. While I did like Diva's character as well, we've got to face it; she was consumed by trying to win Saya's love and attention, so much so that nothing else mattered.
Apparently, least of all the chevaliers who'd given up their mortal lives to serve her for as long as she deemed.
And James, who she cut down in pursuit of Saya, was one of the most loyal to her. She was his everything; his ivory goddess. Nathan knew this as well as the others; and I think it was incredibly emotionally scarring for him to see her just kill him like that and then wave it off afterwards. ☆
