Besides, in the photo I took it really was my body. I DO look like that...Just not 100% of the time. My look doesn't stay constant throughout the day anyway.

On school days, I wake up looking pretty bad and dressed t-shirt and jeans. Then I get dressed in entirely different clothes from what I wear at home, and style my hair along with putting in contact lenses so I don't need to wear glasses. Sometimes at home, I wear glasses but not all the time. I comb my hair and wet it throughout the day when not at school, which changes it's look periodically. I shave randomly, so sometimes I have a stubble and sometimes it gets rather bad when school work becomes too time consuming. When I do shave, I sometimes have a jawline beard, and sometimes I just shave it down to a goatee. The same goes for a few other parts of my body, but those are rather private and don't always show visibly.

So in the end, I never look quite the same all the time. I have to make a choice on how to represent myself. Being naked removed much of the constant changes with clothing, but it didn't eliminate the constant changes of my body. I would like to emphasize that I 'do' look like the photo I took of myself. By changing minor things I made it more flattering though. This wasn't even close to the same level that a professional model or photographer would have done. Rather, they made a boring photo interesting and they made an unflattering view more flattering.

I would compare it to taking a picture of yourself with the camera in different positions. One with it pointing directly at you with you "just standing there", and the other with you in a more dynamic pose facing only a hint away from a camera, looking elsewhere. With things left out and a hint of mystery, you can make it more interesting. As I learned in my photography class a while back, photography is more of a subtractive art, totally different from things like drawing where it is an additive art.

So in the end, it is me. Yes, I made myself look better than normal. I do this all the time though. Heck, everyone does. But with the unique properties of the camera, it is arguable whether or not even the photo is the real you.

I would also like to add, though minor, I did Photoshop the photo to some degree. I noted on my FA page that this was not anything unrealistic, but rather it was to combine two poses. I can be in that position, however I didn't have that exact position on film. So being lazy, I combined two photos. This made my arm on my knee instead of over my stomach, which actually DID hide even more of myself. The combination also allowed me to keep my shoulder and right arm and such in the same position as the other photo had it just barely in a different angle, which I didn't want.

It's all just artistic choices, looking to turn something boring into something interesting. There's more that I could talk about, but it's all even more uninteresting and I probably said a lot already.

Going off of Garek's thing, I would say I look better from the front then from the side, so if I did a picture of my real self, I would always pose and take pictures from the front. I'm still me, but I'm enhancing myself from the best side.
