...If they were enemies, Kyle thought, then they would have attacked by now. Since they didn't...
But still. Be on guard.
"...Kyle," he introduced, "Kyle Riverway,"
He eyed the two new girls with a suspicious, but not hostile gaze. Finally he said, "...How long have you-"
Suddenly, Kyle's Crystal started pulsing. He felt a presence being born outside the walls of the school.
He groaned. It was another demon...
"We'll talk later." He said, "For now, let's see what you can do..."
Without saying another word, Kyle spun around and took off down the hall, ignoring the wierd stares he got from the other classmates. Once he was clear of the school grounds, Kyle seized his Crystal and released the power within.
A burst of black light engulfed him, and when it cleared, Kyle was in his Unleashed form. Leaping up onto the rooftops, Kyle drew the Chaos Wing and followed the presence, not particularly caring if the other two Knights followed him.
Eventually, he reached the Demon. It was a massive snake, measuring at about fifty feet in length, with spikes in a perfectly straight line down its back. And the demon trademark all muscles, no skin, and the white skull type head was there as well.
"Gross," Kyle spat, "Well, here goes..."

Soleil heard the boy introduce himself as Kyle, and then she felt a deep pulsing feeling within her soul. It was her crystal; a demon was nearby... right outside the school in fact! Before Soleil could even say anything, Kyle ran off.
Soleil ran after him. "Hey, wait up!" she called out, picking up speed. He was a fast runner.
Once she was outside the school, she ducked under and behind a tree and unleashed her Crystal's powers. Soon, she was in her Unleashed, fiery form. After the bright red light dissipated, she clenched her fists and unclenched them, feeling the heat flow through her. She ran after Kyle, and soon caught up, seeing the Demon before them. It was a skeleton-snake, or that is basically what it looked like. But the rippling muscles could be seen all about; it looked pretty strong.

Katherine was rather puzzled at the boy's behavior. He seemed to swing between extremes. "For now, let's see what you can do." He said, sounding grim. Katherine was confused. Could it be that he'd already fought demons before? Although Katherine had trained and experimented with her power, she had never actually fought. He took off at a run, followed by Soleil. Well, I suppose I don't have much of a choice. The girl thought, running after them. She was rather aware that they were making a scene, but she pushed the thought to the back of her mind. For the first time in her life, there were other people like her in the world! Katherine had to smile despite herself. She'd never had any real friends and she was more hopeful than she wanted to admit that she might make some today.
When she ran into the bright sun, just after Soleil, she saw two powerful forms before her. One dark, The Knight of Chaos, the name came unbidden to her mind, as though something deep within her knew him, and the other might as well have been a ball of fire, The Knight of Will. There was excitement building inside Katherine that was rather foreign to her. She grasped her Crystal in her right hand and changed into her Crystal form, an effervescent pale blue spirit who wore a gossamer-thin dress that shifted between silver and blue colors. Katherine leapt into the fray just as the monster, whatever it was, launched a stream of acid at Soleil. She recognized the smell instantly and her nose wrinkled in distaste. The Knight murmured, "Rivergod's Gift" under her breath. A wall of water rose just in time between Soleil and the stream of acid. Katherine's wall absorbed the acid completely and she allowed her wall to disperse, taking the acid with it. Katherine noticed in alarm that the ground was smoking from the potent acid. "Careful!" She called out to her comrades, "That acid can really hurt you."
Unbeknowst to herself, just her being there calmed both her comrades so that they could feel more relaxed than they would normally be in a fight. "Shield yourselves!" Katherine warned. With a heart-rending shriek, Katherine let loose with her "Ice Shriek" power, which caused a thousand sharp ice shards to rain down from the sky.

Brian was walking around aimlessly. He had just gotten out from his early-morning college class. Both hands were tucked into his jean pockets, but what an observer wouldn't have known was that Brian was casually fingering a green Crystal in one hand. Suddenly, he felt a pulsing that was foreign to him, but absolutely undeniable. It called him. Brian broke into a run and was shocked to find three other Knights--Could it be possible?--and an ugly-looking demon. Without a second thought, Brian changed into his Crystal form. His hair became darker, spikier and his eyes seemed to glow with the green power within him.
Brian ran towards the monster, awed by a wall of water that seemed to appear from nowhere. She must be water, the other one is fire, obviously. What about this dark one? Something within him answered Knight of Chaos and he was certain it was correct. How could he know this? An inborn instinct of any knight, perhaps, when they witnessed each other in their Crystal forms? He heard a warning shout, Shield yourselves! and immediately whispered, "Prison of Thorns!" to build a thorny shield around himself, usually used to contain a person but also useful for shielding oneself. He could break out of his own jail, anyway.

"Gah!" Kyle reacted as her used his cape to block the ice, although it was not too effective. Some ice shards tore through the cape and pierced his arm.
When the storm subsided, Kyle lowered his cape and gripped his arm, "HEY! Whose side are you on?!" He shouted at this new Knight. Reaching down with his good hand, he tore the ice from his arm, ignoring the searing pain that ensued. Kyle tore off a piece of his cape and used it to wrap the wound.
He cursed himself. The Crystal of Chaos traded defense for pure power. If he was attacked, dodging was hard, since he had no defensive powers.
He looked at the demon, who was realizing that it was outmatched. It fixed its eyes in a different direction. Following its gaze, Kyle saw a prison of thorns.
"You gotta be kidding me..." Kyle said, "ANOTHER one? How many more are there?"
Looking back, the demon turned tail and tried to escape. This thing can't be allowed to run. If it does, who knows who else it might devour.
And he couldn't allow anyone to take souls except for himself.
Kyle thought about deploying Hellfire Rampage, but it would cause too much destruction. And his Soul Reserves were running low, so he needed to end this quickly. Maybe a burst of Dark Radiance, and then suck up the remains...
He paused. How was he able to plan this out? Looking deep inside, Kyle noticed that he was a lot calmer than he usually was. He was able to see things, minute flaws in every little detail of his surroundings. He was confused as to how he was able to plan this out so quickly and effectivly... But now was not the time to figure it out.
Kyle raised the Chaos Wing into the air, and threw it at the retreating demon, "Taste true power..."He growled, "Dark Radiance!!"
When the sword passed over the demon, it erupted into a brilliant dome of dark energy. It washed over the demon like a tidal wave, and the demon soon was covered in darkness.
A hideous slashing, ripping, and crunching sounds soon followed. The screams of the demon could be heard throughout the town.
A couple of leaps, and Kyle closed the distance between them. He released Dark Radiance, and the blade flew obidiently into his hand.
A sickening mound of flesh, blood, and bone stood where the demon once was. Kyle could feel the Soul pouring out of it at an alarming rate. He better hurry...
Raising his left hand, Kyle uttered, "Now... you are mine."
The mound suddenly glowed a deep crimson red, and evaporated to mist. The mist, red like blood, gathered around and fused itself to Kyle's arm.
Kyle felt vitality and power surging into his system. When the last of the mist was cleared, Kyle lowered his hand and basked in the power he now aquired...

"Flame Needles!" Soleil shouted out, unleashing the attack on the enemy.
Soleil watched as more people came. First, the girl who was the Knight of Serenity showed up. Katherine told them to shield themselves, and Soleil, the Knight of Will, yelled out, "FlameShield!" A shield of flames enveloped Soleil until the Ice Shriek attack ended. Soleil noticed a new guy on the scene, The Knight of Heart. She could tell he had earth powers when she saw the thorny shield he put up around him.
Soleil watched as Kyle, the Knight of Chaos, let out his Dark Radiance power. The demon was soon slain. She was impressed by his power; he was definitely very strong. But she also noticed that there was some instability in his power. It seemed very powerful, but at the same time, a confused sort of power. |
