Yeah, so I just found out that you can create websites with Inkscape. You have to understand XML though, and Inkscape's default file formate, .SVG, can only be opened properly in Firefox and Opera (IE has an SVG plug-in available for download).

Yeah Inkscape!

And in future releases, I think within the .50-.55 version range, you'll be able to make animations. I'm assuming it'll act as a very, very basic version of Adobe Flash.

Hoorah Inkscape!

Oh wow! Those are really neat! I love the first one. 3nodding

Looking over your samples reminds me that I need to find more uses for the spiral tool. It such a neat tool to leave it untouched. neutral

Ugh, I feel kinda dumb now, because for my current order, I had to make a spiral, and I did it all with the pen tool (and a little help from the circle tool). TOOK ME FOREVER to get the spiral perfectly balanced and even. Little did I know I could have accomplished the same thing in under 5 seconds with the spiral tool.

Oi vai.

*facepalm*

Did you get a v-day partner?

I hope I get it done before the deadline. neutral

If not, I'm going to have to abandon my original plan and do something...less complicated.

Ah, about the crashing thing. The latest version release seemed to have fixed that by introducing an autosave function.

You can set Inkscape to save your document every few minutes; you can set the timing. Important to know -- it doesn't overwrite existing files; instead, every time its saved, it creates another copy of that document. You can control how many saved copies it makes. Default is 10.

On Windows, it should saved an unnamed document in Documents and Settings, naming it the username of your computer. Or you can specify where to save the documents.

Yay for Inkscape!

Oh cool, Inkscape.
I downloaded it for Linux, but never had the time to start to learn how to use it >.< So it's sitting among my programs, waiting.

I should start using it ....
sound pretty cool.

Any tips for a beginner?

Hey there!

How familiar are you with vector graphics?

You should read through the Inkscape Guide. There's a few tricks that can be learned through different exercises.

Oh, and the Pen Tool is mighty. Practice until it feels like an extension of your own body, for the Pen Tool is the gateway from which imagination becomes tangible.
