"Our pack shall need to grow some I believe. Our numbers are just too small..." He bit into the haunch of meat again and chewed on the meat again. He enjoyed the savory taste of the meat.

Kiche shifted a bit, quietly watching the other wolves. She smiled softly at the new member of their pack, wondering how he might fare. Her mind drifted a bit and she wondered what Sion would do if Tumnus challenged his alpha status. That would be an interesting event indeed, if ever it happened, though she wasn't sure who would win; Sion was strong and wise but Tumnus would have speed and youth on his side. She looked thoughtful, staring into the fire. She had no idea what she'd do if Sion lost his leadership. Surely she'd be lost as well.

"Kiche....you seem troubled....." Sion ripped another chunk of meat from the haunch. He chewed it viciously and devoured it. He wasn't one to worry about being challeneged he was scarred from expereriences, and if he were challenged he would take the challenge and fight to the best of his ability.

*Tumnus came back with several quails and three rabbits. It wasnt much but maybe tommorrow would yield a better catch. He sat away from the fire and proceeded to skin them. The fur could also be useful to add to clothes or whatever it was used for. The bones he would save for jewelry or make it into arrowheads. It was wiser to use as much of the catch as one could. He was happy to be accepted here in this clan, after all, Tumnus was not the type to swear loyalty and then backstab. When he gave his word, he meant it. Humming a tune under his breath he continued with his task of preparing and drying the food he had brought*

"Yes...numbers will strengthen us greatly."

Tala smiled her agreement at Sion, and then turned her head when she noticed his attention on the other female. She looked back at Kiche, who still sat alone by the fire. It was true, she did seem to have something on her mind. Tala perked her ears slightly to hear the answer, but instead she heared only footsteps. She turned her head again, this time catching sight of the new pack member, catching small but fresh game.

"A successful hunt, was it?"

Sion remained in deep thought ever the crafty leader he was thinking of bringing in a second generation of werewolves that would help carry his line on. He wanted one who would be of his blood to be the one to succeed him and take his place. But this may just be wishful thinking since he was a somewhat weak werewolf but he was wise from the many battles he faced in his youth even if he was attacked once by the death pack and defeated. He didn't let this hinder him he let this be a lesson to use cunning.

Well *Tumnus replied* Its small pickings as game isnt easy to catch in winter but digging up burrows and other things helps. I ran into a few snakes however they were sleeping still so they didnt bite me. *He chuckled and continued skinning. Not recalling if they had any salt he supposed they would have to dry by themselves without the aid of salt of what have you.* Its a bit more meat for us all anyway.

Tala nodded at the response. It was true, any amount of meat was helpful. With another pack member, they would have a good supply to last them until spring. It wasn't terribly far off now. Tala was most anxious for it. Spring was a time of new beginnings, of blooms and births and new life. She They would be prosperous come spring.

She turned her head then, catching sight of Sion. He'd taken his seat and seemed to be lost in his thoughts. Tala watched him a moment, nothing the little crease above his brow. It was barely visible, with his fur there, but she could see it. It was a sign of thinking, of wisdome. She had always known that the alpha had been more wise than he was tough, but perhaps that was why he led them so well. He was sensible instead of overbearing. Tala smiled to herself, then, having realized that her gaze had been fixed on Sion for too long, turned her eyes back toward the fire. The flames danced over her emerald eyes.

Kiche awoke from her quiet trance as Sion's voice slowly pulled her from her thoughts. "It's nothing," she said with a peaceful expression. She gazed over at Tumnus and offered him a smile as she watched him preparing the small animals he'd caught. Any food was certainly better than none, however small the catch. Her tail flickered slowly and she glanced at Sion. She'd heard them mention something about strengthening numbers, but she hadn't caught all of what they had been saying. She wondered if spring would bring children, and she struggled not to let her mind wander again. She brushed bits of rust-colored hair from her eyes, exhaling slowly. She was becoming too much of a daydreamer these days. Perhaps it was from lack of action - she hadn't hunted in quite some time. She stretched a bit and made a mental note to do so once she got the chance.

Sion went into deep thought knowing in time their home might be attacked, yet he had traps waiting for them. He was a hunter foremost, he knew how to trap his enemies. He had taken time to prepare himself for the next time.

Tala lifted her paw and brushed her bangs out of her eyes. Her eyes wandered again, over the other wolves present. She knew there were others in the pack: an elder and other females, but she rarely saw them. just the four of them seemed a little lonely. There was no doubt that numbers were needed. Tala knew that they were each strong and would fight for their territory, but an army of ten or more wolves against their pack could mean disaster. Tala shook the thoughts from her head. She hated to think about an attack, about the danger that could come to her beloved pack at any moment. She loved her pack, they were everything to her: her family.

Finally, Tala's eyes fell once again upon Sion. She watched as the little wrinkle above his browed creased a bit deeper and it make her lips curl up into a little smile. She felt safe with Sion around, no matter his age or the size of the pack. She knew that Sion would fight for them if the time came, even if he knew he was outnumbered. That was all that Tala cared about. It wasn't about being the largest or the strongest pack, it was about knowing that you could trust and depend on all the other wolves who mae up your family.

A breeze came through then and took her hair up into it. Her dress fluttered slightly around her. the breeze wasn't as cold as it had been. Tala could feel the sun returning, however slowly, and it lifted her spirits. She longed for spring, and summer after it. With spring came new life, and new beginnings...

Sion stood slowly and walked to his hut where he decided to rest for a spell and think some. He wasnted to be free of the females for a while he needed to think some, and it was hard to do with them hanging off of him.

Tala yawned, the warmth of the fire maing her a bit drowsy. It seemed to have been a rather lazy day for her. She stood up and drushed off her dress, then shook out her hair. It fell in tousled locked around her shoulder. She thought she might take a nap. In the morning, she would go into the woods and see what she could find in the way of useful materials and food. She nodded to the other members of her pack and went off to find a comfortable spot.

Sion awoke from his slumber and walked out, he headed off deep into the forest to hunt for a bit. Not to sound harsh but hunting needed to be handled by the alpha sometimes. After a long hunt he managed to bring down a few deer and bring them back to the dwelling of his pack. He wanted there to be plenty of meat for a while.

Tala stretched her arms over her head as she walked out of the little cavern she'd found to sleep in. Her bones ached from the odd position she'd slept in, and her hair was a mess. She found her way to the lake and dunked her head in without hesitation. When she sat up straight again, her hair was laying about her shoulder in a soaking mass. It felt heavy, but better. When it dried, she knew it would take on its usual slight natural curl. She sat down on the shore with her legs outstretched, deciding to let the sun speed the process along a bit.
