No, you can't play as them, but they will help you along during the game, oh, and Nintendo said that Samus gets injected with Phazon in the game.

what do you mean by you're not sure about the DS? what are you talking about?

I'm not sure what you mean by DS, but in the game you do get to o to other planets or something since they said you could pilot the ship.

DS is Dark Samus they said DS is still here but not sure havent heard about it yet

you can't pilot the ship. i read an interview by IGN Games (i tried to look for it but i couldn't find it) and they talked about everything in MP3. while they said that you get to use a special visor called the command visor to control your ship, you don't actually get to fly the ship.
