“Yeah I’m fine, I just get cold easily.” I had completely forgotten that I felt cold to the touch. Part of me wanted to kick myself for being so stupid and letting him touch me, but the other part didn’t think it was too big of a deal. I felt so at home dancing with Darious that I decided it was safe to let my guard down a little.
“So, what do you do when you’re not at work?” It was a lame question, I knew, but I couldn’t think of anything better.

“Oh nothing to exciting, I don’t really do much. I’m actually training with the guards to become a warrior. Kine is in need for strong able men and it has always been my ambition to become a knight.” Darious started while looking off into the distance as if he could see himself standing there in shining armor with a big sword and fireworks going off in the distance. “I have actually come along pretty far on my training. They have me on call now if they are ever in need of extra soldiers.” He snickered to himself. The smug look on his face showed you his confidence. He was lively and willing to do anything for his dreams. The look was almost inspiring. Then as if it was only a passing thought he turned the focus on to you. With a nimble spin and dropping of you top half into a small catch he posed his question. “Right back at you Sephora. What do you do with your spare time?”

I like to suck the blood out of pathetic, sex-driven men. I knew I couldn’t say that so I simply replied, ”I have no life really. Other than work I honestly don’t do anything. I know it sounds lame, but sadly it’s true.” I felt so pitiful after Darious had told me about all his hopes and dreams. Sure I had hopes and dreams, but none I could share with him, not when he didn’t even know what I was. “Um, I’m getting kind of dizzy, do you mind if we walk a little more.” I said with a smile.

“Sure Sephora, I don’t mind. Let’s go for another walk.” Darious agreed as he let go of your waist slowly and started to move for the end of the deck. The small court yard felt smaller bigger with the crowd of people in it all dancing. It was hard to get around but finally you guys made it out. He lead the way again, heading to the left toward the heart of the city. The out line could be seen around the palace. With a bright and vivid moon in the background it made most things visible yet a dark blue tint to them all. It was a very pretty night. “I love going to look at the palace at night. I think its so cool looking.”

“You know I’ve never really just looked a the palace before.” I wasn’t ashamed for this one. To me, just staring at someone’s home felt a little like an invasion of their privacy. However, if I was going to be invading someone’s privacy, I was glad I was doing it with Darious. As we walked I couldn’t help just staring at his face in the dim light. He was beautiful and I felt like I couldn’t look at him enough. All of a sudden I had the urge to kiss him on the cheek. Not just because he was attractive, or because I could be a bit of a whore sometimes, but because I was so happy and thankful that he had taken the time to get to know me and not just try to get with me. I have never been happier in all my “life”. I leaned in and gently kissed his warm skin, not even feeling the slightest urge to bite him. That’s odd. Why don’t I have my usual reaction to flesh? Is Darious somehow different in more ways than one from everyone else in Kine?

“Wha…what was that for.” Darious said with the brightest blush ever. The blood filling in his cheeks rushed to where your lips grazed by and you could feel the warmth resonating but some how didn’t feel the need to bite. It was a strange yet exhilarating sensation that made you want to do it again. Darious couldn’t help but look any where else but into your eyes. Something about the kiss hit him to, as though it was a new sensation he to had never experienced. You could see the sparkle in his eye as the smile on his face grew from one side to the other. “Does that mean you are having a good time? I don’t think I have ever been thanked in that way before.”

“I’m having an amazing time. This was just what I needed, and you are just who I needed to do this with.” I smiled at Darious and the flush that filled his cheeks. He was the only person that could have blood rush to the surface and not make me want to drain every ounce of blood from his body.
As we continued to walk I wanted to explore this strange new finding. Knowing I was cold to the touch, I was hesitant to touch him, but I reached out and brushed his hand with mine. I felt a jolt, almost like an electrical current, run up my fingers and through my arm. Normally, a sensation like that would alarm me, but this time I found it refreshing and awakening. I didn’t know what Darious was, but it intrigued me and I wanted to know more.
“So, tell me about your childhood. I want to know what makes you, you. I hope that’s not weird.”
PostPosted: Mon Nov 15, 2010 10:04 pm

“Oh it’s nothing special, actually far from interesting if you really want to know. I grew up here in Kine, born and raised. I always hoped to make something of my life and be far gone from this place but it’s hard when the best place in Aeonce is here. My parents always preached to me to do my best in school so that I could get a good job. My father is a general in the Kine army and my mother is a realtor. You know most things for me where just normal. What about you? You must have some very interesting stories from your childhood.” Darious asked in a way that would entice your best answer. He leaned in close to you with the end of his words and shot a look that you didn’t really know how to take. It was almost as though he was playing hard to get now. No one had ever treated you that way before. His face got so close to yours that you could feel the breath from his lips on yours. Then just before he let the suspense end he pulled away and instead tickled the back of your hand with his own.

The walk had brought the two of you to the palace side of town. Off in the distance grew the obscene delight of glorious art in building form. The massive castle built into the side of a mountain almost looked to never end in size. To the left was the Order of Chapels, the most magnificent of buildings ever. At night everything was lit up by candle light, making for the perfect romantic atmosphere. Everything about this night was something very different from the normal.

My body shuddered as Darious’ hand brushed mine. Chills ran down my spine and every inch of my skin cried out for more. It was almost as if my mind and body craved him. However, his question had put me a bit on edge. Not wanting to give too much away, I decided to feel out what his feelings on my kind were and how much he knew about me before I went confessing to anything.
“Well, what do you already know about me? I know people must be talking and from the way you posed the question, I take it that you know something about me.” I knew I sounded a little insane, but come on, Darious was a nice guy and I didn’t want to go scaring him off just yet if I could help it. So I simply smiled and looked at him with big questioning eyes that pleaded for him to answer me honestly without judgment. I knew I wouldn’t be able to breath again until he did.

“Well there is word going around the Bar that you have a lot of friends. Teshla swears she has seen you with this guy and she thinks the two of you are pretty serious. I’m not going to judge because your romantic life is none of my business….right now….”He adds in with a whisper as he turns his head to cough. He tried his best to hide the words because he just couldn’t help but say them but he didn’t want to scare you away or come on to quickly. He was having a great time and didn’t want any of that to change. “Everyone at work thinks you’re loaded too. You have never missed a payment and seem to always be spending on some nice new AWSOME outfit.” The way Darious let the word escape his mouth was an over dramatic praise but you could sense the sincerity of his tone. “No one really knows a whole lot and most of it is all talk. That old woman that lives next door is always freaking out. She is always muttering the craziest things to herself. It makes me laugh. One thing I don’t get about you though is why your always so cold?” He added taking your hand and rubbing up and down your arm gently with his hand. He looked into your eyes with the sweetest of smiles.

“Well, I’m not seeing anyone at the moment. I mean I was seeing someone, but it wasn’t serious and it ended last night. And now that I’ve said that I know how our date must look to you, but it’s not a rebound thing I promise. Um wow I uh… I’m just going to stop talking now.” I nervously laughed scratching my head and praying that by some miracle Darious found my blabbering cute.

“Aww, hey it’s alright. I’m not pressuring anything on you right now. I’m really enjoying my time with you right now and I don’t think there could be anything that could ruin this. I’m sorry to hear about things with you and that other guy. Well hey, here is to the future, where ever it may take us.” Darious said leaning in and kissing you on the forehead. It was a small gesture but one he did very carefully. He put his all in the simple kiss, as though the weight of the world depended on that going perfectly. Just as he pulled your head toward his face and leaned in for a much more meaningful and important gesture you heard a voice in the distance.

“Darious…..DARIOUS….oh there you are. I have an important message for you sir. You’re probably going to want to sit for this. Let’s move inside the palace.” A wealthy voice interrupted at the most incontinent of times. You could see it in Darious’s eyes too. He was not happy at all.

“What is it?”

“No, come inside. It is not safe. You will understand with good time. Bring your lady friend to.”

“Oh Sephora this is Mr. Shocland. May I present the lady Sephora the enchanter of this night?” Darious said playfully taking your hand and aiding you in a bow to the messenger.

“Oh those are not words I would want to bow to. This is no night of fun once you hear what bewitched occurrences have bestowed upon such a night.” Mr. Shocland added after bowing and then rushing toward the palace gate. Darious and you followed quickly behind him until finally reaching the safety of its walls. The building was cold inside, taking away slightly from the glorious design. He brought you to a smaller room where there were seats.

“Please sit sir for this terrible news may strike hard.”

“Get on with it Jeaves.”

“This very night, found dead in an upstairs chamber of your bar was your father’s dead body. He was in the stairs hall almost completely drained of blood. We have no idea where he came from or how he got there. The most interesting thing was two holes in the side of his neck. Darious, vampires! They got your father. I’m so sorry.”

“What…how could this happen!!!” Were the only words that could be understood through his broken speech as he cried? He truly loved his father. His tears couldn’t stop flowing. It was hard to watch Darious cry so hard. He leaned over to you and pulled you into a hug against your will. His head nestled into your shoulder and neck as again the tears flew.

“I will leave you two to talk things over. Sorry again mamm to stump on your night of fun but this could not wait. There is another message for Darious when he has collected himself. It has been placed in his chamber. We think that might have been why his father was there in the first place.” Jeaves said before standing up and heading out of the room. Oh and it was nice meeting you Sephana.” He said trying his hardest to fake a smile.

After Jeaves left the room became strangely cold. Darious held on to you tightly as if it was all he had left and you felt so good to him. He tried to brush himself off and apologies for what was happening.

“I’m so sorry Sephora. I really had no idea anything like that would happen. I shouldn’t have said that nothing could ruin this moment. I forgot how much the creators don’t like me.” His jokes were a good try but the tears came all the same. “You wouldn’t know anything about this would you? Have you seen anything strange ever happening up stairs?” He asked.

How ironic is that question? It's as if he knows what I am. He hinted to it earlier and here it is again. Then again, I might just be being rash, I do live above the bar so it's a question any sane person would ask if something like this were to happen. but what do I tell him? "Why yes as a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I'm the reason your father is dead. You see I'm a vampire and I did just have a meal last night if you get what I'm saying." I don't think that would go over too well. Besides, I might not be the only vamp that lives in the building. I did get a note that said the body in my place was being taken care of and that they were going to help me because things were getting too dangerous in Kine for someone with my habbits. I just don't know what to do.
"Maybe we should go get that other message that Jeaves said was upstairs for you. Wait a second, he said it was up in your chamber which means you live here. Who are you? Who is your father? What are you not telling me?"
Thinking about the fact that I found myself in a somewhat large estate that was very well decorated I knew that Darious couldn't have been telling me the whole story. It made me a little angry, but then again, I couldn't be too angry since I hadn't told him who or what I was.
"Come on," I said pulling on Darious' arm, "you can explain everything on the way and after we've read this note. We need to get to the bottom of this." I pleaded with Darious standing by the foot of the stairs waiting for my pleading look to melt his resolve and show me upstairs to start our investigation.

“Alright Sephora, I guess the cats out of the bag. So I might have somewhat of a royalty blood line. It’s faint and not really important. It just gets me a nice place to eat and sleep if I don’t want everything on my own. I gave up this place because I always knew I wanted to make something of myself, not be born with it. I was telling the truth when I told you my father was a general in the Kine army. He is also in control of internal disputes here in Kine. My mother is in real estate. That’s not entirely a lie because well she owns a lot of things, like land and people.” Darious started to explain as he brought you, arm linked, all the way down a long hall and passed a few rows of guards along the palace. A few doors where opened to the two of you and a longer hall moving inward toward the heart of the mountain. Darious lead you to a chamber higher inside the palace until finally the two of you reached his room. It was a wondrous place filled with beautiful colors and intricate gothic furniture. There was a massive bed with drapes all around it in the middle, a long armor case and weapons display across from a smaller study along the far wall from the entry way. A large Golden retriever lied softly in the middle of the bed with his ears tucked in and his snout under his paws. Darious’s first reaction was to greet the familiar.

“Hey there buddy. How is Mitie, how is my dog?” He said in a childish playful voice. The dog seemed to instantly cheer him up as it popped up in a split second and leaped from its place over to Darious. The dog wouldn’t stop until it had licked every bit of his face. “Mitie I have someone very special for you to meet. This is Sephora. She is a friend.” Darious added. With his words Mitie moved to you quickly and continued to do the same, practically knocking you to the ground in an attempt to give you kisses.

“Oh that’s not fair Mitie. You got one before I did buddy.” Darious said and then realized his own words after they slipped out. The blush I his checks had no modesty. He blew that one and had no words to catch himself with. “Ummmm…..so where is that letter you where talking about?”

"Well my guess would be that it is that sealed thing on your desk. Look before we read this, there is something I have to tell you."

I had decided that it was need to know information and if I witheld it and it turned out that it was my doing, the consequences would be much worse. It's not like it would hurt me any if I told him and it wasn't my fault, it would just be one more secret out in the open.

"I need to know though that what I say will have no sway over you until we have gotten to the bottom of your father's death." I didn't even wait for a reply from Darious I just blurted it out. "I'm a vampire. That's why I'm so cold and why we had to wait for night fall to come out together. I did drink from someone last night, but I really don't think it was your father. It's a long story but if you like I will explain. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you sooner and that this has happened to your father, but either there is another vampire living in that building or I'm being framed. See I got this not this morning that said that somebody was taking care of the body for me and that I needed to be careful because times in Kine are changing and soon my kind won't be welcome anymore. So I made a decission this morning to clean myself up and do the whole get blood from blood banks and little furry animals sort of thing."

With those words I saw Mitie shrink back. "Don't worry Mitie, I didn't mean furry dogs like you, I meant like wild animals."

After all that I was out of breath and tears were streaming down my face as I waited for Darious to react to the earth shattering news I had just dropped on him.
