All pride members should read this RP. But if you're too important or too lazy, here are the major changes that will now be in effect:

• Njal is the new warlord.
  
• Any lion who share's Aesir's blood (his cubs and their cubs) is given the choice of thralldom or exile, and those who do not leave the pride by sundown will be made into thralls regardless of their choice.
  
• If you own any such lion, PM the mule or Princess_Feylin with your plans for them. If you do not do so, it will be assumed that they have chosen thralldom IC.
  
• The position of Head Priestess will now be held by Brynja (pinchmonster), as Morrigan will go into exile with Aesir.
  
• Under Njal's rule there will be no new female reavers and no new female captains, and although those who presently hold those posts will not lose them they will be strongly, publicly discouraged from remaining warriors.
  
• Under Njal's rule cubs born to thralls will be thralls, not freeborn, unless a freeborn parent claims them and raises them to freeborn status.

During SoA's hiatus a captain (not Ru) left and returned from a viking bringing with him booty...and fleas!

The flea infestation will last one month OOC but for a full season IC. Four in every one hundred fleas will carry disease. To determine whether a character is infected with a disease, every character in any RP taking place during the infestation must roll 1d100. If they roll 22 or 66 they have tapeworms. If they roll 44 or 88 they have flea-bourne spotted fever. If they roll the number 2 they get both.

Questions are best asked in the OOC Discussion thread so that everyone can read the answers.

It is up to the character's owner to determine how the character goes about dealing with illness, but I deliberately selected non-lethal illnesses so nobody should die from this infestation unless you really, really want them to. Discomfort and embarrassment, on the other hand...Well. Maybe a priestess can help you out, or someone skilled in healing. Or maybe there are some good folk remedies out there.

The Stormborn are now officially a lined pride! Yay! With these lines, some breeding rules have been adjusted. Please take a moment to review them here.

Because the lines were revealed midway through this month and the breeding rules were clarified at the same time, they will not go into effect until March, but as of March first please be advised of the following:

• Breeding is always open, provided your lion has a cert and is on the member list with that cert.
  
• Thralls cannot participate in the Mix 'n Match because they cannot leave the pride, but female thralls can rogue breed. In a rogue breeding it will be assumed that the father was a member of the Stormborn who did not step forward to claim the cubs, and the cubs will be thralls.
  
• Freeborn (including lawspeakers and priestesses) cannot participate in the Mix 'n Match because they do not leave the pride. They can rogue breed, however, and it will be assumed that the father is an NPC Stormborn. The cubs will be freeborn.
  
• Reavers and captains of either sex can take part in the Mix 'n Match or rogue breed. They do, after all, leave the pride.

Captain Ruzanski and his band have returned from their quest, bringing with them all that the former warlord required of him, though some of the ways he achieved this were unconventional. He has brought with him a few lions and thralls that had gone with Captain Hroarr into exile as well. Information about who has returned and who has not can be found here. You'll also see these changes reflected in the member list.

In case anyone wants to have their characters talk about what was required of Ru, the RP where it's stated is here. He achieved these goals in a somewhat unconventional manner in some instances so, here they are:

god's feather - he was given one of these before he left on the quest
sea monster's tooth - Ru and his band made an agreement with the god of fish to get a whale's tooth
piece of sky - they came across and captured a lion with a cloud-patterned coat that looks like a piece of sky
treasure from the pirate king's hoard - Don and Galning captured one of the pirate king's daughters
ten followers - Galning, Aluka, Don'Zaraasir, Munyu, Halvdan, Inyoni, Asper, Zairre'ari, Azrael, Gabriel

Just a reminder about the breeding rules that have gone into effect as of today. You can review them above or in our new, handy-dandy breeding thread. You will have to post your breeding in that thread and have it approved. This is because Fey is a horrible human being who wants to ruin everyone's life.

The breytast vindar is over for the year. There have been some changes. Most notably, the pride has a new warlord. Captain Ruzanski challenged Njal and in a close-fought battle defeated him. He has taken a new name for himself now that he is a warlord, Ruzski, but he'll probably still answer to Ru. Under his regime you can expect the pride to officially become less conservative, although individual opinions may vary, obviously.

There will be more announcements in the future regarding what changes he is initiating in the pride, but his first act as warlord was to retract the order of exile placed on members of Aesir's family and restore the freeborn status of those family members who were enthralled.

He has also put out a call to captains and reavers to go in search of the exiled members of Aesir's family to let them know that they may return to the pride. If they wish to do so, of course.

With regard to the JRP announcement, the Stormborn still require a joining application submitted and approved before the joining challenge takes place, and old blood lions must still apply for approval and be approved before getting certed.

As of October 1st, Fey will be passing OOC ownership of the pride to Pinchmonster. If you have questions regarding the change up to October, you can direct them to Fey, but after that it's Pinch's show.

Hello, friends!!

A few things:

arrow Sometime this weekend I am going to be pushing out a new members list! We are going to be adapting the Prideland's method of doing things, for the most part.

What this means for you: everyone will be in charge of up-keeping their own "members list" in a thread I'll create this weekend. One post per person, and you'll be responsible for adding lions to your post. You must have a post in order for your lions to be accepted for breeding (this will not be backdated for currently approved breedings, but every breeding after this new member's list takes effect will be affected). I'm doing this because I just don't have the energy to keep the list updated like Fey did, and I think this will be easier for everyone.

arrow Breedings will still need approval, and the form will change this weekend (so be sure to use the new one)!! If you have been approved once, you do not need to be approved again as long as you are breeding the same two lions together. I am not going to maintain a list of approved breedings, so you can just link to my post approving your breeding. You will need to have a post in the member's list thread to be approved for breeding.

arrow Rank changes will still need approval. You will need to have a post in the member's list thread to be approved for rank changes.

Again, any pending breedings/rank changes will not need to be reapproved, but once I get the new thread & forms up, it will be required.

Okay. Fey really is going to step up and do her pride owner thing like she's supposed to now, but it will all be done on Tuesdays, so if you don't get a thing in for her to deal with before 6 p.m. EST on a Tuesday, it will probably not be done until the following week. Please bear with her. She is trying, but life is kicking her in all the soft spots right now.
