Daddy's Blue Star
Cub name: Airmid
Meaning: In Irish mythology, Airmid was the daughter of one of the Tuatha and a physician. She became an expert in dealing with medicinal herbs.
Personality: Cheerful and stubborn, Airmid never takes no for an answer and never leaves her friends/family/patients with a frown. She's kind of like a candy striper - no matter what she's facing, she will put other lions before herself, whether they want her to or not. Although it makes her very helpful, this is probably also her biggest flaw - Airmid just can't leave people alone, even if they really want to be alone.
Diseased Immune
How will the cub deal with the sickness, both of herself (if diseased) and the other pride members: Airmid will, from the beginning, make it her quest to help in any way she can. As one of the few cubs that never gets sick, she is always trying to be helpful - fetching and carrying, story telling, anything that needs doing, she does. As she grows older, she'll become an apothecary, believing that her skill with plants and her immunity make that the place where she can be most helpful to the pride.
Future plots/ideas:
Following In His Footsteps
As she ages, Airmid will realize what her father did for the pride - he brought in new blood, he helped with the population, and the influx of cubs with him raised his spirits. Once old enough, she will seek permission from the Queen to do the same - it will take her longer then her father, of course, but she will venture into rogue lands in order to bring back cubs, several times if needed.
Apothecaring
Simply a growing up plot, talks with elders and personal experience that lead her to be an apothecary. I'd like to find her a mentor early on that she can grow up learning from.
I Won't Let You
Someone close to Airmid - a sibling, a friend, a cub, a lover - turns out to be diseased after her believing them to be immune, or perhaps it's just one of her own cubs that she was expecting to be immune. With a passion never seen before, Airmid frantically redoubles her efforts to help. She goes abroad, brings back strange plants, even talks to the gods, desperate to save her loved one.
She fails of course, and has to face her loved one slowly getting worse and worse, as she can only stand by them and relieve the pain.
