Vyoga missed again and, still not on track at all, he was able to spot Chasasa scramble for it-- just missing and losing it to another competitor. And finally, he was smiling and actually looking like he was having fun. He caught his friend's eye but then spotted another frog in the corner of his eye. Turning about, he made a grab at it.

Stunned by his success, Vyoga beamed, his eyes searching the crowd for anybody worth a nod to but he couldn't even get a view of his friend before there was another frog about. It worked the first time so he tried again- scrambling to grab at it-- but this time he was not so lucky.

Penda had been so certain he would be able to get that frog - it had been right next to him after all! For this reason, he was quite surprised to see it snatched away by a lion he hadn't even seen coming! But he didn't let the failure phase him; there were plenty more frogs out there and he was determined to get at least one! He steeled himself and quickly glanced around once again, spotting a frog just out of his reach and quickly attempting to snatch it away. Just one... If he could just get one, he'd count it a successful day!

Chasasa didn't even get a chance to make a move on the next frog before, very suddenly, he saw Vyoga had it- but everybody was moving again as another frog appeared. He ducked down and tried to get in closer to get a better shot at it.

Okay this whole mud thing wasn't going to work. It was starting to harden and make moving at all extremely difficult. He found a bit of clearer water nearby and took a quick dip, getting the majority of the caked mud off his fur. There was still quite a bit on him, but at least his distinct coat could be seen beneath it now.
He trotted back over to find severeal other lions had already found frogs while he was going. He was getting desperate until a frog nearly walked up to him. Koda lunged and almost had him until... no! The creature slipped right through his paws.

Feeling her confidence bolstered by that last close encounter, Mwezi grinned at the challenge. She would have had that one if not for those two brutes nearly jumping on her to catch the frog that should have been hers!
She was going to have to be more forceful about asserting that a frog was hers when she found one, apparently. This lesson would undoubtedly be applied the next time! But first she had to find another one! Those pink eyes skimmed the forest from where she sat, trying to avoid being knocked around by the others who ducked and dived and scampered after their own green jumping beans.

She had managed to catch one and it was good, feeling confident that she could go again, the now, very muddy, lioness dives at the next frog...and completely misses, landing in a huge pile of soggy mud Helianthus giggles happily wiping away the dirt from her eyes. She would try for the next one, this one was clearly a lost cause.

2 frogs so far! Things were going well for Kamili today. Although he had nearly missed both catches, Kamili was feeling just as satisfied as ever with himself about it. At the moment he was winning and though he had plenty of confidence in himself, this was no time to slack off! His lead was not great enough yet that he could gloat about it (but later, he intended to!)
Another frog slipped out of the marsh. Kamili went for it!

Another attempt, another miss and another frog appeared- sending Vyoga scrambling after it. It was hard not to slide around but he managed to keep himself under control just enough to get a good shot in at the frog-- or so he thought.

This time, Chasasa did keep moving from one attempt to another-- and it proved to be a horrible decision as he lost his footing in an attempt to catch a frog and slid right into Vyoga. With a yelp, they both came crashing to the ground- both without the frog.
"Whoa!"
He didn't know what else to say, stunned that that actually just happened.

There was so much activity going on Koda couldn't figure out which direction was which.
Frogs seem to be appearing in every direction, so he tried to focus on just one. He layed low to the ground, his tail saying carefully back and forth trying to distract the little creature. Suddenly, he leaped forward, hoping he would be the first to reach it.

Several minutes passed without an amphibian to chase. Not entirely unfortunate considering that Mwezimoma was feeling like she needed a moment simply to breathe and regroup. Each failed attempt taught her something new and eventually, she suspected when she collected all the tricks there were to know about this game, there would be no stopping her from catching all the frogs in the swamp! Until then, she'd keep trying somewhat desperately.
A little peeper that had seemed to have lost its lion appeared before her almost as if Mwezi had beckoned it with the power of her thoughts. A grin forming upon her maw as she attempted to pin it beneath her paw--only to find that her paws were stuck in a sink hole of mud from having sat dormant for so long.
Another useful lesson learned!
