Ali's lip lifted with agitation. It was quite a mess here... one that he, unfortunately, had only just happened upon. There were quite a few things he would need to have explained to him- for instance who's pelt to carve into for his niece's condition- but all in time. Kosuke was correct, she needed to be seen to before they got any further.
He leaned down to press his shoulder against Morag's free side, giving her a little more support as she got up to her paws. Sinbad, he knew, was going to be in hysterics once news reached his ears.
"There's a few shrubs not far from here. It's not a lot of shade but it will do until she has the strength to get back to the den."

Morag felt her consciousness snap back as a couple of someones approached her, one of them a familiar heat at her side, another a concerned voice... and another warm presence, nearly as familiar as the first. Family was springing from the rocks it seemed, but that was to be expected in a pride where nearly everyone was related. Lifting her head, the dark female blinked a few times to clear her murky vision, wincing as motions pulled at the wounds across her face.
"Its not that bad... I'm just tired." She mumbled, though she did obediently struggle to her paws and allow herself to be shepherded off to the side, out of the crowd. She left a trail of blood drops behind her, one that a careful eye could follow all the way back into the desert, though the heat and the sand was fast swallowing it up.
At least at this point, the bleeding had nearly stopped. It was hard to say if the damaged eye was salvageable and that side of her face looked just as one would expect it would if a lion had tried to bite into it. Claw marks were heaviest on her shoulder, which had taken the brunt of that last viscous attack, but there was marks down her hip as well.
The coolness of shade seemed a signal for her to plop her backside back down and she drew a deep breath of relief, letting it out on a gusty side. A chance for rest seemed to bolster her and she blinked at the three that had surrounded her. "Father.... Uncle.... Medic." She nodded to the female, submitting for examination. "I caught a bad angle.... He'd latched on before I realized it. I blame my lack of soldier training. I don't have the right reactions for close fighting." Morag felt embarrassed to return from her first non-duel battle in such a state, her one good eye slitted to a fleck of glittering red. "I got him off, but he nearly took my face with him."

Teketeza was waiting for the right moment to reveal to Regentess No that another group of Hongshan had been welcome into the Pride. With open paws no less. Rather annoyingly though, some lioness beat him to it. It was clear that No was already very wound up, and Kidondo was too busy attending to his injured Grandson. Although the hulking grey lion was often hot-headed, he wasn't stupid. Now would not be the best time to be demanding the immediate banishment, or even execution, of all the Hongshan.
When No called for the one known as Miah to be brought to her, he grinned widely. That's the one that had already almost been taken out when they had first arrived. Apparently he wasn't Hongshan at all. Although he believed that anyone other than Firekin had no right to be here, this one especially seemed to be more trouble than he was worth.
"He never should've been brought here in the first place." He finally snapped. "Not even the Hongshan that he had supposedly rescued trusted him, and yet some Firekin still thought it wise to just take him into the Pride."
Hratchouhi was feeling fairly useless at this point. Although she had offered help, no one seemed willing to accept it. And even if they had of done, she was not a trained medic, so what possible help could she even offer? With another heavy sigh, she walked alongside the injured Firekin until they made it all the way back to where they needed to be.
Medics had started arriving, Firekin were running all over the place whilst others were collapsing. When it started going around that the Hongshan and this grave incident may be connected, a look of concern appeared on her face. Although she did believe in putting the Pride first, that did not mean that she didn't wish to show charity or mercy. The Firekin of today were not as heartless as the Firekin of old had often been made out to be.
~~~
Since his question was seemingly ignored, Ukuba rolled his eyes and returned back to his little group. When Thabiti spoke up, he nodded lightly, but he was still clearly somewhat worried about what was going on. "I kaor sros es koae cuka su cumcarm ik." I fear that it may come to concern us. As time went on, he listened out for any information in regards to what had happened. From what he could gather, the Firekin had been attacked, and many of them were injured.
A short time later, a Firekin arrived to take Miah to where all the commotion was coming from. It seemed as though they believed that he may have some information in regards to what had happened. Ukuba watched Miah's reaction careful. He got nothing. No emotion, no panic. How was this lion able to contain himself in such a way? Frowning deeply, he turned his back on all of it, and focused on his brother Isifo, Thabiti and the rest of their group.
Kidondo gave Vlam a grateful look as the large white lion dutifully followed Ea’s orders and stepped up to offer his aid. “He’s been drifting in and out of consciousness for a while now.” He reported, though there was really no need. Somehow it just felt better to speak it. “Kakek. Will you stay with him? Your mother may be needed here and I’d like someone to report back to me if his status changes.” For the good or the bad… “Just make sure to keep out of the medics’ way if you can.” Nur’yu, now being supported by Vlam, had given no sign of being aware of what was going on. Not even when Kakek stepped forwards to share the load and get him moved towards the ward dens. Kidondo, satisfied that Nur’yu was in sound paws, turned back to Azar and briefly touched his forehead to hers. “They’ll take good care of him.” He assured. “He’s a strong one, that son of yours. He’ll be fine.” He wasn’t at all sure that Nur’yu would be, but he had to believe that. Thankfully Azar seemed to snap back to attention and recover herself. “I’m sure we can find a job for you to do.” He replied, sounding more like himself. He paused and glanced around. Morag was now being looked at by Seraphina. “All those who have suffered wounds must be looked at by the medics.” He called. “Minor and major, both.” Even a small wound could fester and grow if not properly cared for. And then Keahilani was there and Kidondo stepped forward to meet with him. “A new group of Hongshan, you say?” Then he frowned. “And a Nergui?” He was certainly surprised and troubled at this news. “Travelling together? Are we quite sure of the Nergui’s identity?” He blinked. “Thank you, Keahilani. I’ll go and see to that now, if there is nothing else for me to tend to here.” He glanced at Azar. “Your strength may be needed, Brigadier. Walk with me?” He continued, taking a few steps in the direction that No had taken. “Has anyone seen General Azarax or Nawvlee?” Even as the words were out of his mouth he spotted the Hongshan leader amongst the others. That was good. They may have need of him. The tan lion, however, was nowhere in sight. He may have been out on patrol. Unfortunate if so. As he walked, Kidondo continued speaking to Azar. “Do you know anything of these new arrivals?” -- Roho said nothing, mostly because she didn’t know what to say. She had expected trouble to come of Miah’s arrival but not for it to come so soon. Had they used the Hongshan as a distraction to allow further Nergui to make an attack elsewhere? Or could it be a mere coincidence? She would certainly not believe that her kin had had any part in it – not knowingly anyway. The anxiety of all the unknowns churned in her stomach as she met Nawvlee’s look, fearing what this might mean for their future within the pride. It was likely that the pair were noted amongst the group, but Roho pointedly ignored the chaos, not allowing it to penetrate the wall she had closed in on herself. She still had not had the chance to speak with any of the new Hongshan but she doubted she’d be allowed anywhere near them after her tirade. So, there she was; following Nawvlee’s path and keeping as close to him as she dared. They were moving closer now and she matched his pace, pausing to peer through the crowds. “They’re bringing him here?” She all but whispered, her eyes darting nervously. “Sir. He is not one of us. I know it.” But was he Nergui? That was the real question. “And if he is not Hongshan, who else could he be? Who else would be able to get our people out of their clutches except one of their own?” She shifted closer to him. “If you’ll excuse me for saying so, Sir, I don’t like this at all. Not one bit.”
Nawvlee heard his name in the midst of the chatter around him, not surprised they would be looking for him now but certainly not intent on abandoning his current aim or Roho to go before he was called upon. His eyes never left No, even as some of the Firekin went to fetch the Nergui.
When Roho expressed her concerns again, he stayed silent for a moment. He felt exactly the same way. The Nergui were not easy to escape and they probably had not taken it well, knowing a group had gotten away. It did seem perfectly reasonable to guess they might find a way to track them down, and Roho had laid out a very clear, simple way of doing it.
"No," he agreed in a hushed voice when she concluded, he didn't like this one bit, either, "We shall see what comes of this."
It seemed the regents were working faster than she was. When Kalama arrived, Elcca knew it would take a little more than a passing statement to get the prisoner safely under guard. Guards that were not likely to make the quick and easy go of it. Firekin were efficient if anything else. Her tail pulsed. "I don't think that wise," the red lioness said to the other. As though she had place to say; but she was the sort who gave her opinion unbidden. "If there has been attack, they're likely still attending to the injured. Tempers are on edge, the regents included."
She doubted she'd be able to get far without more commitment. So she rerouted things a bit. "This quarter is still quiet. I do not suggest to advise the regents, but I advise you to go back to them and tell them to come here." She glanced over her shoulder. "From what I understand this prisoner has already caused incident. And that was without an attack looming over him. An entire regiment might not be able to keep order if some parent of one of the injured lions hears we might have the reason in our sights."
Despite this effort, Miah continued to remain largely stoic. As though this were all still some very strange orchestration.
---
Elsewhere, Ea continued to navigate the swarm of people being rushed here and there. Even worse, now she had little gnats biting at her ears asking to do help and things! Her paws stamped on the ground again, and she began barking random orders at pretty much anyone who looked too interested in the situation. "You want to help?" she said to Nuria. "Go with Singh. Go assist..."
The wild cat became are she didn't even recognize the other injured firekin. She grit her teeth. More rogues getting injured?! She snorted. Luckily, someone passing by shot her the proper name. "Yayuka, that one. The one with the face. Go over there!" she directed the two lions. If they were waiting for more instructions than that, they didn't receive them.
Instead, Ea was moving back towards Vlam and Kakek, who were attending to her nephew. The young male was unconscious, which was never a good sign of anything. Especially for a lioness whose diagnostics relied almost entirely upon what was told to her by the patient. "Alright, this way. Don't shake him about!"
Vlam nodded, and moving together with Kakek, started back the familiar path towards the wards. As they were moving, Ea shot out some further commands. "Move anyone with anything more than a scrape to the wards. I don't want to hear about growing 'badass scars', if its deep, you go to the wards and stay there until I get to you!" Her eyes scanned for more able bodies. "Hratchouchi, come back with this group!"
Though Kalama listened to Elcca, and understood what she said, the lioness shook her head. She had orders to fulfill. "I was told to take him by one of our regents, and so I will." She nodded to Ute, but didn't say anything to her. "We will leave now, come on." She circled briefly around Miah, just to give him a small shove with a paw to ensure he began to move, then just went on past him to lead the way back to where the others had arrived. She trusted Miah would at least know to follow orders, or, if he didn't, Ute would make sure of it.
They didn't have far to go, though. Kidondo had begun to to make his way here. She could see him and one of his daughters once they left the quarter, and snorted. Someone had probably told him. "Fine, Kidondo is coming." She said, to Ute. "We'll go a bit further, meet him half way." It was better than taking Miah right into the middle of the others. Once Miah was with Kidondo, Kalama figured she'd just move along to let No know about that. They were now already in view of the large group of firekin, but still a bit to far to hear what was going on. Hopefully no one would notice, connect a few dots and charge over before Kidondo reached them. That would be unpleasant
She hated how disorganized this was.
The gray lion briefly opened his eyes, having heard his name.They focused on Ea for a few seconds, before moving along to the lions she seemed to have just given orders to. Hm, maybe he was getting helped now. Though Yayuka was a pretty proud lion, he didn't mind being attended to as much as other firekin, perhaps because he had never been exactly what one could call 'hot-tempered'. Maybe he would become more like the firekin, the more time he spent with them. But right now, there was still very much rogue-raised-under-strange-cirsumstances in him.
Besides, he would hardly ever be a good soldier again if he didn't get this paw seen to. So he didn't do much, and just stayed where he was. He wouldn't flat out refuse help now, if it was offered to him. If they could spare it, anyways.
--
Spaki watched as Kalama and Ute left with the dark, skull-marked lion, and frowned, because he did agree with Elcca. It didn't seem the wisest choice to drag Miah over there now, were there were certainly a lot of emotions making rounds. Particularly, he imagines, anger. A lot of anger. But, according to Kalama, No had ordered it. So he didn't interfere. Besides, his job right now was watching the Hongshan, and it seemed there were very few lions here to help him do that.
Honestly, it was a good thing they were in such a pitiful condition, or he might worry about a revolt, or something.
Kinja watched as Kalama rushed off. As much as she wanted to help, Kinja knew she'd be of no use if the lion Miah wanted to cause problems. Brute strength was not her specialty. The red lioness, Kalama dissapeared amongst the sea of bodies and Kinja couldn't help but watch as the pride huddled around those who were injured, the medics doing their job to tend to the injuries. Most, it looked like, had gotten off with mainly minor bruising, cuts and scrapes. A few though, didn't look quite as lucky.
Blue eyes drifted to Kidondo and her Great Great grandson before the lioness shifted her gaze back to No. "What happened? How many were there?" She paused for a few moments, her eyes shifting again to the bodies moving in and out amongst each other, each lion with their own duty to uphold or just plain angry at the events that transcended. "No, if there's anywhere you'd rather me to be or go and do, just tell me." Kinja looked at the younger lioness, with a look of determination and affection.
The large lioness's mouth twisted into a small smile when her father bumped heads with her. She worried watching them carry her son away from her. She had never had a child injured like this before, and she knew she was a strong firekin, she could take care of herself and she knew her children were grown and she didn't have to baby them. That didn't mean that Azar didn't worry about them, family were always important to her. Including her father which was making her feel better. "Thank you papa." She said very quietly so only Kidondo could hear.
She backed away and looked as the lions approached, she listened carefully to what everyone around him was saying and what her father was saying back to the various lions. She listened to Keahilani and then glanced at her father. This wasn't good, it didn't sound good at all. She was about to say something before her father requested that she followed him. "Sir." She answered him with a nod moving at his side. "I haven't seen Azarax." She comment trying to figure out, she had a feeling that she hadn't seen him in a while, well not today anyway that was for sure. She was looking around looking at the lions taking in the wounds that she was seeing and taking in al of the faces before her father caught her attention. "I know a little about the Hongshan, I know they're here." She started off, she didn't know too much other wise, she had been working with the water situation more then the Hongshan. Now she was taking in the information, and she wasn't that sure how she felt about it. "This new group they're talking about? not at all." She reported back, if this new group was responsible for what was going on, she was not going to be a happy camper.
The large male turned toward his grandfather before beginning to walk away. "I will stay with him, of course." He said quickly before he started to move along with Vlam. he moved as carefully as he could, grunting occasionally on the other hand. "Nur... I don't know if you can hear me right now but you have to get better..." He said quietly. He didn't care if the other male could hear him. "And when you do get better I'm gonna kick you into shape, you need to lose some weight." He half chuckled to himself a little, Kakek was always one to keep a good humor about things. He always enjoyed a good laugh, not only that but he would much rater even keep himself in a good mood then to dwell. As they were getting closer he glanced a little toward Vlam. "Do you knoew where we're going to put him?" he asked him curiously hoping that getting his brother down wasn't going to be too much of a tricky task.
Seraphina was glad to see the other lions start to help her move the lioness into the shade. She was grateful of these lions however there was no lying she hoped they gave her space while she started to work on the lioness. First part was to look over the lioness's wounds. She really wished there was water around so she could have more to clean out the lioness' wounds with. She was really hating this whole water situation. "Don't blame yourself hun." Seraphina started off with as she moved toward the lioness's face checking out the wounds that the lioness was explaining. There was one thing for sure, unless she had to Sera was always kind with treating others. "Can you give me an idea of how you're feeling, pain? Anything along those lines?" she said simple as she sat back on her haunches and started to go through her pouch trying to figure out what she was going to use with the lioness. She figured a good start woudl be the paste she made from the roots that had a tendency of making things go numb and a bandage over it. It was a pretty good combo, a simple one but one of the best that she knew. The lioness's wounds were bad but she knew that it was always best to let time heal wounds.
that was when Ea's voice caught her attention. Do the medic dens? Did she had to go to the medic dens. She wasn't sure if she could get the lioness to head that way. She looked toward Morag. "Do you think we can get you to the medic dens or would we have to carry you?" She asked her curiously arching a small brow at the lioness as she did. She was hoping that the lioness would be able to make it.
"Thank you, Ali..." Kosuke hadn't missed Morag's words, and he gently nuzzled her. "It's not your fault, Morag... It's nobody's fault. Everybody tried their best, and at this point, that's part of what matters... It's only eclipsed by the fact everybody SURVIVED." He spared a look at Seraphina, worry in his eyes. He cherished every one of his children, and though he didn't admit it until it was too late for five of them, he cherished his huria children, as well. He had already had to tell six children good bye, because of something nobody could help. He didn't want to say goodbye to one because Finar-si wanted her.
His ear flicked, before his gaze turned toward Ea, listening to her words. He then turned back to Sera. "If you need us to, Ali and I can move her. It shouldn't be a problem."
As soon as he heard Ea's instructions, Singh began helping to direct lions to the medical dens. He soon came across Shula and found himself retracting in shock at her condition. "Miss Shula, you're in no condition to just go home! Come, to the wards!" He began ushering her, going so far as using his shoulder to push her. He ignored the glare and growl she gave him, refusing to give up the fight.
Between her children and the white and silver lion, Shula found she had no choice. Finally, she turned and headed for the medical dens, her limp starting to become more pronounced the further she walked. She soon found herself being supported between Soleil and Singh, each acting as a crutch. Her eyes passed over Singh's back, noting the wounds. "And what about you?"
"Oh, I'll be fine, priority goes to everybody else above myself!" He gave a huff. "I'll survive, trust me! And then I'll let Ea rail on me later for ignoring my own injuries, but that can come LATER."
The injured lioness blinked herself more awake and shifted her attention to the healer. She felt lethargic, but it was hard to work up any worry about what that might mean.
"It hurts like hell down my left side... Prob'ly a lot of bruising... Face hurts worst." She said, trying to focus and push back the grayness in her good eye. "Bones're fine. Breathing fine." Morag took careful stock of her injuries, cataloging them in an effort to stay away and not pass out on the spot.
Something tickled at the back of her mind, a nagging feeling... "Father... the attackers. They were... gray, like mud. I remember the taste of it... but one lioness... I saw a bit of gold, not Firekin yellow." She turned her eye to him, frowning until she winced at the pulling on torn muscles. "We got one, I saw him fall, but... body disappeared when I looked again. Regents know?" It was frustrating... she wanted to know what was going on, but there was no way she could attend in her current state.
Finally, she sighed and shook her head, already feeling her front legs shaking. "Need help to move, 'think." She murmured.
"It was -not- good enough." Ali snapped, his legendary short temper sending a small blaze through his eyes and a boulder's tension through his shoulders. "Try your best" was not a phrase used in their family. Do it, or fail- those were the only two options. Of course, he couldn't blame the wounded lioness for her hurts... she'd been caught off-guard by the sounds of things, ambushed and perhaps even out-numbered. He didn't have all the details and what was worse was he'd have to wait for such details.
As she continued, he put a paw over her mouth. "Save your strength. We'll get to the bottom of this soon enough. Kosuke-", He glanced over to his brother. "I want the details later on. We'll bring it to father, see how many we can gather. Our eyes need to be on the borders obviously. This won't happen again."
Roho gave a short nod and stayed with Nawvlee, her eyes flitting across the faces. She spotted neither Hongshan or supposed Nergui, yet, which meant they must have still been kept under guard and out of sight. She was curious to see whether the strange-marked male would remain so aloof when he was paraded out amongst the Firekin who were, she had to admit, a fearsome sight in all their red, black and white. “Whatever happens, sir. Know that I am with you.” Nawvlee, of course, would always have her unwavering allegiance. -- With the medics in full sway and the wounded being seen to, Kidondo could at least put that concern behind him. There were other important tasks to deal with now. The new Hongshan. The Nergui. The sending out of messengers to those stationed around the borders. They would need to tighten their defences to ensure that something like this never happened again. “Azarax is likely out with some of the troops. We’ll need to arrange messages to be sent out to those on patrol to forewarn them of trouble. We don’t want to be caught out twice. Maybe this can be arranged with the guards and soldiers who are to relieve them from their shifts. It would not kill them to make the trip earlier than scheduled.” He thought about doing this himself once he had addressed the more pressing issue of their intruders. “It sounds like not many do.” He said to Azar. “The situation must have been contained swiftly.” He was curious to find out what exactly had gone on during his time away and who had handled the situation. Unknowingly, he was closing the gap between himself and Kalama – yet unaware of the one she was escorting. To his daughter, Azar, he continued. “I may need your help in informing patrols and relaying messages after the situation is settled here. I’ll gather some help from elsewhere.” His mind was still on the protecting of the borders, filtering through possible lions who could aid. Xipil and Azar’bijan were two names of many that came to mind. And then he looked up and spotted Kalama, slowing his step and lifting his head to watch her approach. “More trouble?” He asked of his brigadier daughter. With a short breath, he quickened his pace, closing the gap between him and the red female.
All the ruckus going on called to Jyotika and she moved down towards the huge group. She was a soldier and not much good at anything but soldiering. Her cubs, well they usually got the basics, how to hunt, how to fight and that was it, she could certainly be classed as a grumpy lady, she certainly wasn't in her youth any more and all this shouting, yelling and all out ordering about was causing her to feel more grouchy than usual. Coming upon the rather large group the black and white lioness was about to growl a complaint when she spotted Morag. "Who, DARED, to touch my child?" Jyotika moves quickly, her sturdy legs tensing as she marched towards her child. "Who did it? I'll kill them and make sure they are scattered to the four corners." She casts a glare at Kosuke. "YOU, did you LET this happen?" She raises a paw to strike at Kosuke, though her paw slowly returned to the ground, to turn attention back to Morag. She wasn't one to show affection, it just didn't come naturally to her but lowering her nose she nudges her child's chin up. "Tell me who did it and I will make sure they pay." Her odd eyes flashed angrily, and she glanced around in search of the perpetrator.
In all the commotion, Teketeza suddenly heard the sound of a voice that he recognised. His mother Jyotika. A fine soldier who had taught him all he needed to know in order to become a great Firekin. She had never been the affectionate type, but that was something the hulking grey male had never craved.
When he moved to see what she was shouting about, he found her stood over his sister Morag, who had been badly injured in the attack. If Teketeza wasn't angry enough before, he certainly was now. He roared in frustration, his tail whipping violently from side to side. Although he wasn't the type to show it, family was important to him. At least, most family.
When he spotted his father Kosuke, he frowned deeply. He was a tracker, which meant that Teketeza was taught a bunch of skills that differed from those that his mother had taught him. Not that the grey male had ever appreciated it. His mother had always been his favorite, and as he had gotten older, he had simply grown apart from his father. It had just never sat well that he had been a result of a fling, and it was his father that got all the blame instead of sharing it with his mother.
Snarling, he snapped his jaws in the direction of Kosuke. "My mother and I can take care of Morag. Go find your current whore, or one of your other many offspring, as you are neither needed or wanted here." Of course, because Teketeza had nothing to do with his father at this point, he had no idea who he was currently mating with. He simply assumed that because of the sheer amount of offspring he had that he was bound to be with yet another female at that time.
As Ea started barking orders, things seemed to become more organised almost instantly. When Hratchouchi heard her name called, she immediatly sprang into action, giving Ea a quick nod of acknowledgement before looking for someone that she could help back to the wards.
Most of the injured seemed to be on their feet at this point, and the ones that weren't, were already being attended to. Not wanting to lose sight of the group that she was meant to go with, she went and joined Vlam amd Kakek, who together were carrying an injured male. She went round to look at the male's face. Sadly, he was unconcious, so she gave him a very breif and gentle nuzzle. "My name is Hratchouchi. Please hang in there, you'll be just fine."
As more and more Firekin continued to leave in order to investigate the commotion, Ukuba and his group were left almost completely unattended. He smirked slightly, as it was clear that they had never faced such a crisis before, and they seemed somewhat at a loss in regards to dealing with it. At least, that's what he thought from what he was observing.
"Is ek reda voscrems verd dusk crokems sraer soerk." It is like watching wild dogs chasing their tails. He was sure that he could help them, but he knew that help would not be accepted, even though he was hoping that he and his group would be allowed to stay among the Firekin. To that end, maybe it would be worth offering his help, even if it was met with rejection.
Moving towards the nearest Firekin, he tilted his head slightly. "Is there anything that I can do to help?"
