Another, but lighter, blow followed after the first one in this highly informative and well written post.

Candace tried to get a better hit this time, but all she could manage was a weak smack with the side of Atropos' blade instead of her sharpened edge.

She'd started the fist fight, and then she felt it prudent to leave from it as well, Invictus taking a brunt of damage with his arm before he shifted and suddenly shifted to give her as solid of a blow as he could to the gut.

There was a cough as he punched her in the gut, backing away a moment and spitting into the sand. Ow. The hits were starting to hurt more and more, and she didn't think that was from him hitting any harder. Candace, the shield.. She nodded. I know, I know. It was getting weaker with every hit. She couldn't back down. Not yet. There was something...not right. Caelius had captured the horsemen heirs a few months back, she remembered, but they had all escaped. Too easily.
Something wasn't right. She didn't like feeling like there was something she didn't know.
And then the horsemen information...Caelius wanted it. And the lair..Sandy, Barney..
"You're the heir of Conquest, aren't you?" She asked with a suspicious eye, her voice slightly breathless from the fighting. "So I'm guessing it was Daddy Dearest who was here before playing slap fight with Caelius..." It made sense. The other Conquest looked like this boy. "He looked perfectly capable...why didn't he just kill us then? Is he waiting for something?" The depictions on the walls in that hallway...leading the lambs to slaughter? Were the horsemen playing a game? There was something she was missing.

She was starting to ask questions now. How amusing - it was just like the hunters to try and glean information from them even when they were failing. He was familiar with this aspect of them, after all. Though they'd never asked for it so forwardly before.
"If you checked the information you had already gathered, you would know the answer to that." he said, though it seemed his intention wasn't to be vague. It was simply the answer he was going to give her at that moment.
"If you paid attention to what happened, you would know the answer to that question as well. You have so much information at your disposal and yet you don't even look at what you have to see the facts." Yet at the same time, Invictus did have to wonder just how much information the hunters actually had - and how he was going to get it away from them.

The..information they already had. Caelius didn't tell them a ******** thing. They had information?! That a*****e! She didn't let her rage show on her face, instead putting it to better use by...barely glancing his shoulder with her blade.
Good job, Candace.
"Sometimes it's more fun to find out directly from the source to see how they react." She said with a grin, keeping a perfect poker face. "So what're you doing here, Pony Boy?"

Invictus's poker-face was much more practiced.
"The information you have should already be from the source. Perhaps even from your own observation." he answered, not really relenting Candace the kind of information she probably would have liked to know from the Horseman, his face neutral.
"Isn't that how your kind gather information? Or do you expect it all on a silver platter now?"

"Eh, silver is boring. I prefer diamonds. They're much shinier." She chuckled, feeling her shield getting weaker and weaker. No..no! She could do it! She could hold out a little longer!
Candace, he could hit you too hard. You could leave yourself in a compromising position... Atropos reminded her, her gems flaring brightly. If Candace didn't take action she knew Atropos would just unsummon herself and refuse to stay summoned until Candace got her a** out of here. She glared, backing off.
"Unfortunately it looks like our play time is over, Pony Boy. Try not to get yourself killed in a way you won't come back before I can see you again, alright?" Candace grinned, fishing the pendant out of her shirt. "Any parting words~?"

Invictus said nothing, his face remaining neutral even as he moved and began to form another projectile in the palm of his hands. Unlike Candace, Invictus wasn't just going to stop attacking to let her flee, and from the looks of things, he was planning on a big one - which meant it would probably be in her better interests to get out of there sooner, rather than later.
However, he did take note of the pendant, perhaps debating reaching out to grab it from her with his free hand, even......

Ah, so he wasn't a talker. What a disappointment. Candace rolled her eyes. "You are no fun. Even the heir of Famine was more entertaining than you." She grinned, pressing a kiss against her fingers and blowing a kiss in his direction. "It's been fun, Pony Boy. I'll see you around."
An eye on his hands, Candace grinned. "Deus Ex Machina."
And then she was gone.
