KazeRin Your laptop overheats that much? Wow.. what a POS... My netbook (so basically really low-end gear due to theoretically only being used for web surfing and word processing) can run older games just fine without overheating. Starcraft, Diablo II, Ragnarok Online.... But it can't handle flash very well (flash is pretty rough even on good computers) so I couldn't play ZOMG much... But again, it doesn't overheat or crash... just uber-lags. That's the problem with laptops, Aoi. They're inferior technology due to needing to be shrunk down and portable. The future had better not be touch interfaces. I really hate it. Your fingers are too big to be accurate enough for what you need to do. So unless we move up to jumbo touch screens (so no longer as super-portable as tablets and smartphones), they'll always be inferior. That or we take a step backward and return to a stylus. What are your laptops specs?

Aoi the Crossdresser What are your laptops specs? Acer Aspire One 1.6ghz Intel Atom Processor 1 gig RAM 160gb HD Integrated graphics... don't remember much else spec-wise. 6-cell battery so 6hrs battery life for note-taking, closer to 3hrs for movies/games.

I have an acer aspire to. sad That's weird. Mines a big 15 inch one. With much better specs. 2.2 Ghz, 4 gb ram, 500gb hd. I hate it, that's the only problem with it is that if I'm doing something intense or my computer is too hot, it will randomly turn off. When it does turn off, it is usually hot or really hot on the bottom. It's dumb, my old crap laptop never randomly turned off. I remember playing old games and emulators for hours.

Wow Tree spirit, 16gb ram? Oh god!!!! 1TB hard drive isn't that impressive, I saw a new laptop on amazon that has a 1TB hard drive. And there are lots of laptops now with 8gb ram and like 750gb hard drives in stuff.
But it's just that computer technology is always rapidly changing. You saw the spec comparisons of my old 2004 laptop to my current 2010 one.
When it's like 2020, we will probably see like laptops with 20TB hard drives, 4-5 GHRZ processors, and like 64 128gb ram.

Those are some rather large speculations. Even if laptops can accomplish that in 8 years without melting their circuit boards, that would mean that desktops would have already accomplished it and moved up. The desktop is always ahead of the laptop because they don't have to shrink down their technology to allow for portability. so they can have the bigger better things, since it's not going to be moved around, or need to be light weight.
Laptops are always going to sacrifice some advantages that desktops have, for their portability.
and desktops, always sacrifice portability for better specs. it's a trade off. people who want to move around, will get a laptop, and people who are opting for better systems will get the desktop.
I'll, have one of each, because I want the power of the desktop, but when I'm on the move, or working in a coffee shop I'm not going to take my more powerful machine with me, in favor of the weaker but more portable machine.

Well desktops in 2020 will be much more like 30tb hd and 128gb memory, and 4-5 ghrz processor.
you don't know what will happen in 8 years. Ipads have only been available since 2010.
Computers technology is always changing constantly.
You know jump drives right? In like 2004-2005 I remember having really crappy 32mb and 64 mb jump drives. But now you can get jump drives of like 32GB in stuff and probably 64GB now.
By 2020 I estimate having like 256gb to 512gb jump drives.

People now have "jump drives" in their computers, often with the operating system installed there so they can start up super-fast. (Jump drives are solid-state memory rather than your standard little metal discs that you'd find in a normal computer hard drive) A few tips Aoi - Figure out how to unscrew whatever's over your fan, and then clean out your fan. - Find a large book or some piece of wood to use as a lap-desk. Laptops get significantly hotter when they can't ventilate well. - Look online for an external laptop fan / cooling unit. These sit under your laptop, plug into the USB, and add extra fans for better cooling.

I think theres something wrong with my fan. sad
I can hear my brother's computers fan like it's loud like an actual fan. My computer is always really quiet. I can't hear something unless I put my ear to where the fan is, where my brothers I can hear it from a distance making sounds.

The fan might just need to be cleaned. They can collect a lot of dust and slow down.

Semok The fan might just need to be cleaned. They can collect a lot of dust and slow down. I looked at my model's anatomy and to get to the fan you literally have to dissasemble the entire computer. It's not easily assessible for just me to do. crying

I have access to my laptop fan. It collects so much dust. Having easy access to the fan should be considered a feature, since so many seem to make it difficult to clean.
