Kaliny watched as he slowly got to his feet. She tilted her head as he scratched her ears. She sat on the couch her front paw's on the back of the couch listening to him talk to her telling her she was going to need to hunt. She was a little wary about going out and hunting today. She knew about hunters, but it wasn't what she feared the most. She feared running into other lions. She moved from the couch and walked to the kitchen as he told her he could thaw meat for later. 'No I'll go hunt I can't go without eating.' She thought and got a drink of water.

She watched Kevin come join her at the table She watched him lightly as he ate his food and drank his coffee. She tilted her head as he offered her the rest of his food. 'Are you okay?' she asked not sure if should eat it she knew he also needed his strength for this all important meeting. She heard him tell her he had to get going. She let out a light sigh as she hoped he would make it back it time for them to get a run later. She nuzzled him after he kissed her on her nose. She blushed lightly at new feeling that started to fill her. She would follow him to the door and watch him leave tell she could no longer see him.

Oopsie.

Kevin hurried off toward the Town Hall for the meeting. He had been preparing his speech for quite a while and wasn't too worried about it. He intended to ask for a grant to head out into the wilderness to do some photo journalism with a little more support. However, there were several local topics regarding weapons trade, and the rise of drugs in the area that he was supposed to chime in for as a member of the community. It didn't take long for him to arrive and take his seat at the round table for the meeting with everyone else. He was dressed to look nice and as he walked in several people greeted him. A good portion of their money came from those supporting his journalism, so he was tied into the upper tier of the city's politics. He sighed fully expecting the meeting to be quite boring.

Kirjhalla had been traveling all day realizing how bad the fringe was even compared to the baron land that was his kingdom. It got worse as he drew in closer to the humans' intrusion on the edge of his kingdom. However, as Diamondrock came into view he realized that the place itself had a shimmer of it's own. Somehow, the place was sustained and not desolate. It was something he wanted to figure out to restore his kingdom and he was going to do whatever it took. He was awestruck by the strange living quarters as he approached. It wasn't like he had ever made contact with humans before and he looked around curiously. His scouts had given him a very accurate description and the dusty town was practically an Oasis out in the desolation of his kingdom.

"Cutantira, I want you to explore, after all. I am going to find the leader of this place and find out what magic they are using to sustain themselves. If these humans are capable of fixing my kingdom I am going to use them to do so. I want you to keep an eye out for whatever might be making this place work. Be careful... I do not want my top huntress to die in this hole," Kirjhalla ordered making his way through the streets of Diamondrock, looking like someone who was there to cause trouble. It was midday, and the meeting had just drawn to a close and the mayor was free.

It happens

Kaliny after sitting there watching Kevin leave wishing him the best of luck. Her tummy grumbled at her. She opened the door going and hunting. She looked across the land for a meal, but even near Kevin's place she seemed to be noticing the wild pray had been dwindling. She finally found an antelope she stalked it once close enough she a jumped running at a sprint tackling the animal. She jumped putting her claws in the animal and bit into it's neck taking it ability to breathe. Once the prey went limp she drug the body to a shady area near the house. Where she ate her fill then cleaned and groomed herself of any blood on her before returning to the house. She went to the kitchen taking the plate of Kevin's breakfast into the cooler. She then went to the living room and laid on the couch just before noon.

Cutantira walked looking around at how the humans dressed. The ladies wore dresses there was no way they did the hunting in way. She looked at the different buildings around her confused as to why the humans needed so much no wonder why they needed so much land. Cutantira nodded lightly but she really rather stay with Kirjhalla until the meeting was over with. She didn't want to leave her king unguarded. She turned to him as she watched him walk down the street. The other huntress stayed with Cutantira. She walked into a strange place reading the sign she was surprised how much cooler it was inside then out. She walked looking lightly noticing the stairs she was getting. She walked over looking at the food loads of vegetables, fruits, and then some weird stuff labeled meat where was the fur.

She was going to have to find someone open minded that would tell her how they get all of this food and why it sat at this place there was more then enough here to share yet there was strange writing on the package and the humans charring around paper and these metal pieces. She left the store as soon as she felt the urge to turn. She walked down the street and looked at a building with clothes in it. She shook her head as she left the other huntresses she knew they would be leaving with Kirjhalla she had to get a better idea of what was going on here. She felt a little lost in this human town and most people here were giving her a strange look and no one seemed to think of talking to her. She wondered if these humans even knew how to talk.

Naturally, Kevin was happy when the meeting was over. The dry stuffy politics were not his bag of chips. However, at the end of the meeting he did submit his proposal for the grant to go out into the wilderness for some photo journalism. And lucky for him the board committee gave enough yeas to submit the paperwork to the treasurer for further processing. After a long discussion on whether or not to ask for military aid in keeping the arms dealers out, it was nice to get a little reward. He certainly didn't recall there being any sort of meeting with the locals... but on his way out he saw a very proud looking man and a clearly subordinate female warrior walking alongside him. It was unusual to Kevin to see a female warrior let alone one as a chief's personal guard. He had some questions for them, but the man clearly had a purpose and did not want to be interrupted so Kevin walked along his way back toward home. He did promise to take Kaliny out on a run and he didn't like to see her sulking when he couldn't keep his promises.

Kirjhalla was curious as he witnessed what the humans walking out of the strange building were wearing. They all wore long sleeves with strange under clothing and cloth around their necks. They all had shiny shoes and Kirjhalla wondered if that meant that they were important. He figured his garb set him apart from his escort and he needed to talk to the leader of the place. He knew the language only because he had been studying these humans for so long, and he was not all that fluent in it. "Excuse me. Where is the leader ruling?" he tried to ask someone sitting behind a desk at the town hall.

"Do you have an appointment?" the secretary asked, looking up to Kijrhalla with a disgruntled look on her face. She was wearing a long skirt and dark clothes. She was clearly uninterested in dealing with Kirjhalla and her dark green eyes almost pierced into his soul from behind her glasses.

"What appointment? No. I must speak with the ruler of city," he said getting a little frustrated.

"I am so-" the woman started and they mayor walked out from the conference room.

"Oh, another guest? I think I can squeeze him in," the large mayor said tactfully, reading the air and the frustration that Kirjhalla was putting out. He didn't need another incident with the locals, especially not in the town hall, "Follow me to my office."

Kirjhalla nodded and motioned for his escort to follow leering at the secretary before leaving. Clearly this king was not so in control of his tribe and was weak. Kirjhalla was already thinking about what to say to win him over since he seemed so soft. Little did he know that the mayor actually had plans for him as the mayor led him to his office.

As Kaliny laid on the couch her stomach all twisted up in knots. She felt warm she had curled up on the couch. She began to feel dizzy she didn't know what was going on with her. She closed her eye's as she felt tired as she dozed away on the couch as she slept her fur at her starting at her feet began to move as her lion body began to shift and change. Her tail went away once the change was done a girl laid there with long white hair and a white dress.

Cutantira watched as the four huntresses followed Kirjhalla to a building two standing outside and two following in behind Kirjhalla. She wondered if she should go and make sure that everything was going to go well tell a man caught her eye. He was dressed nicely she wondered what role he played in the city. She quickly moved too follow him and as she got closer to him she picked up a strange scent on him. She was unsure what to think the scent was familiar to her, but she couldn't place were though. She caught up to Kevin and tapped lightly on his shoulder wondering if he would talk to her or if he was like all the others around that would stop and stair at her then slowly go back to what they were doing.

Sorry for the long delay. I finally got done moving... <.<

Kevin was surprised with the sudden touch to his shoulder and he turned around to face the person who had touched him and he looked her over, tilting his head. Was there some sort of meeting with the locals that he hadn't heard about? Was she just a visitor? Kevin wasn't entirely sure what to think but he stopped and faced her completely. "Yes? How can I help you, ma'am?" he asked her quietly. It dawned on him that she was probably a hunter based on her appearance and he wondered which of the tribes nearby had female hunters finding it unusual.

* * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * *

Kirjhalla knew his huntresses were guarding the doors and he brought two of them into the room with him as the mayor led him into his office. He wasn't entirely sure what to think of the strange town, finding a lot of the human innovation beyond his understanding. He was actually fairly intimidated by it all but he tried to hide that fact so his huntresses would remain at ease. The mayor gestured to a seat and Kirjhalla sat down across from the large man. In Kirjhalla's mind the mayor was just a fat man that was clearly a terrible king since it appeared as though there was no way he could put up a fight against him.

"I have come here to find out how your land is still working and mine has become desolate. I want to know why my tribe starves and yours does not," Kirjhalla said aggressively.

"Well that's easy, you are still wearing tribal clothing and are probably a nomadic tribe who hasn't embraced the future," the mayor said clearly feeling uncomfortable with Kirjhalla's tone.

"Are you suggesting that your clothing is magic? Don't try and fool me. I know that you are just as mortal as I am," Kirjhalla said standing up, feeling like the mayor was insulting his intelligence.

"Oh no, no no no... I am saying that we have a city with electricity and get regular shipments from the larger cities. I mean to say that food and supplies are brought in to us for trade," the mayor said, leaning back with a worried expression.

"Then I would like to trade with you. I need food to come out to my tribe," Kirjhalla said taking a seat.

Kaliny shifted on the couch as she felt cold, she had never really felt cold not like this she had felt cold when she would lay on the tiles on the floor to cool down on hot days. She shifted pulling down the blanket on the back of the couch down on her as she napped wanting Kevin there.

* * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * *

Cutantira looked at the guy as he looked her over she glanced at him in hoping he would speak, then when he did it threw her for a loop it made her speechless. "Sorry." she started she was hardly ever sorry, but he proved these humans could talk. "What do you do?" She asked as she wondered what things he did for the city. She still had to figure out where she would sleep. She wasn't going to trust these humans to stay with them there were plenty of caves near by she could sleep in.

Kevin laughed a little at the response she gave him. It certainly wasn't all that unusual, since most people were only ever concerned about time and themselves anyway. "Well, I write articles for a magazine and take photos of things. Usually, I do articles for the tribes and politics in the area, though I started out as more of a safari journalist. I actually just got a grant to head out in a couple of days to go look at the land beyond Diamondrock. I also have a lioness companion back at the house who will probably be angry if I am late for our run. You'd think that an animal wouldn't keep track of time... but she does, I could swear she was a human stuck in a lion's body sometimes," Kevin said with another little laugh, "However, for your own information if you plan on staying here any amount of time, there are food shops down the street on the opposite side of city hall and there are a couple of hotels out that way as well. I am pretty sure one of them grants a major discount to tribal folk like yourself."

Kevin had no idea who this woman was, but he did what any normal person would do in his situation. She asked about him and he gave the usual answer, and she seemed lost so he gave a little guidance. He waited for her response thinking it was about time for him to get back on his way to go meet up with Kaliny.

The mayor was clearly more at ease after Kirjhalla took a seat and the mayor reached into his desk pulling out a book full of vouchers for meals and a place to stay. It was something he gave to all of the tribe chiefs that came through. They rarely ever used them, but they would have been pretty valuable to anyone who did. After all it was about three weeks worth of food for a family of four, and there was a weeks worth of hotel fees paid for. Naturally Kirjhalla didn't know what to make of the book, barely able to read it.

"You can trade those pieces of paper for some food in town and if you bring precious metals, or gems we do have a trading post that can get you some money to trade for food and perhaps even some land," the mayor said with a grin.

"I need food delivered outside of town," Kirjhalla said with a frown.

"We can make it happen for the right price," the mayor said rubbing the back of his head.

"Good. Then I think my business is done for now," Kirjhalla said rising to his feet and nodding to his huntress entourage. He figured with the book he could get some food for his huntresses and stay a while to learn how these humans operated. It was something he thought of on the fly and really had no desire to do. However, it did seem like the best course of action, and he knew he would have to send one of his huntresses back to the tribe with some food.

Cutantira looked at him as he laughed, she didn't believe she was funny she kept her emotions in check. She listened to him as he told her that he wrote articles she wasn't sure how good it was to really do a job like that. He would never be allowed to come to her village and write about them, she didn't trust humans. Her interest was perked when he mentioned a lioness she couldn't believe he could take care of such a strong animal, but the way he talked about her it made her wonder. "I've been around lions maybe I could come with and check her out. I'm surprised that you have one you live with. Thanks for the information on places to stay." She said wondering if he would let her follow him to look at the lioness. She had wondered if his lioness was actually someone like her from another tribe that had fallen apart. She would not tell him that she was sleeping outside, she didn't have any money and she wasn't going to trad her bracelet for a nights place to sleep and eat.

My 4th of July was okay, I guess. Nothing exciting. I hope yours was fun

Kevin was curious of her awkward interaction, wondering what tribe she was from. Maybe she just didn't like him because he was part of the intruding machine that was expanding into her territory. Of course he read her reaction to him as neutral and when she asked about his lioness he shrugged a little. "Well, I don't know how well she would receive me bringing a lady home with me. I have not done so in the past and I am sure she will hold me to my promise to go on a run with her today even if it means that she has to drag me out of the house," Kevin said shrugging, "So if you do decide to follow, let me talk to her first and see if she will cooperate. She has been pretty good about interacting with people in the past, but it varies from person to person."

Kevin started to head back toward his place actually eager to get packing since he was able to go out and do some reporting on the surrounding area.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Kirjhalla decided to use the vouchers he had been given to go get some food, and then after sitting down with his huntresses send someone out to take Cutantira something to eat. He figured she was doing her part and learning about the area and who was around. He knew he had to send out his huntresses at some point to find out more about the humans he had to deal with. As for the mayor, Kirjhalla felt like he had won a small victory.

Cutantira looked at him listening to how he talked about the lioness she wanted to see this lion for herself once he had stopped talking he began to head to his home she began to follow him and when she got close she herd her name being called behind her. She stopped turning to see a huntress running to her with some food ticket for her to use while she was there. She looked at the paper tickets they were strange, but she figured that she could handle it. The huntress went back to help other huntresses. She folded them up and placed them in her pocket as she looked at the house that was outside of the city. She wondered why the writer wasn't living inside the city, but she remembered his lioness friend and figured that the city would not like him having such a wild animal around. She lightly waited for him to see if she could come in wondering if she should knock on the door. She would be patient and wait.

I apologize for the long delay on responding to this. I have been quite busy this past week, and I will try to respond a bit more frequently. There is actually a lot of stuff I have to do in the coming weeks. ^^'

Kevin walked with her back to his home, curious of the other woman who came up and gave her some papers. It seemed the mayor had welcomed her tribesmen into the city at least. Most of the walk back to his house was quiet and he made his way inside having Cutantira wait outside for a bit. He opened the door and walked inside happy to be home and out of the stuffy meeting. "Honey, I'm home," he called out into the house curious of where Kaliny was. He of course was teasing her a bit, but he figured that she would come to the door if he called out to her, and he started for the living room. "I brought someone with me... so I want you to be nice," he called out again.

Kaliny lightly moved hearing the door open and close she moved the blanket as she woke up from her nap. She heard the voice and a smile filled her face as she moved she sat up and looked at herself. The smile soon faded she was looking at human body she was scared she didn't understand why she was human. Her thoughts went to Kevin. 'What will he do?' she thought afraid that he would kick her out she then heard him talk about someone else she growled lightly under her breath. She didn't need all this and now she couldn't even go out on a run with Kevin. She shifted on the couch looking at the doorway into the living room she expected to see Kevin soon and something would happen.

Thanks for letting me know.

Keven stepped into the living room and naturally was shocked by what he saw. He did not know how to respond. Clearly the woman was in a state of unease and after recollecting himself he took a deep breath and sighed it out. If the woman hadn't been run off by his lioness friend... then either she was friendly or had incapacitated her. With a level head Kevin walked toward the couch to get a better look at the woman. He really hoped that she wasn't armed, and he pulled his phone out, ready to contact the authorities.

"Well, I will give you a chance to explain yourself. Either you incapacitated my lion and are here for nefarious purposes, or something weird is going on here. Either way, I don't like it..." Kevin said, not getting too close.

Kaliny looked at Kevin as he walked into the room she was happy to see him home but she could see the shock in his face and it made her scared. She watched him as he leveled himself. She watched him move towards her she lightly placed her hands in her lap as she sat on her legs it was a comfortable position for her.

She listened to Kevin talk to her but the way he talked to her was different. she shook her head as he talked about her incapacitated herself, but she didn't even know how to talk. 'Something weird is going on.' She thought. 'You don't like it how do you think I feel.' she thought some more he seemed to always respond to her thoughts she hoped it still worked while she was in a human form. She tilted her head, as she noticed that he paused keeping his distance from her. She noticed the phone and hoped he wouldn't use it. 'Please don't, I didn't go anywhere.' She thought as she felt water around her eye's.
