"One of the," of all times to be lost for words. Hanyu looked at the Queen with wide eyes, and then dropped his muzzle down. "The flower things."
A more helpful lion would have parted the grass out of the way. Hanyu, however, backed away from the object and forced Nantele to peer through the tall grass to catch sight of the object.
He held is breath, eyes focused on the flower as though it would disappear if he looked away. Of course, he could always have found the wrong flower. Hanyu felt his stomach somersault.
-
The wild dog's blood was everywhere. Smeared on Ja's bright back, tainting Csoa's grey coat. He could see the color thick on his muzzle and tracing down his neck as though he'd made the kill himself. To cope, he pretended the blood was from a gazelle and not from the wild dog whose intestines might break through his fragile skin and spill onto the ground.
"Alright." The calm he had attempted to instill into his voice wavered. Instead of further talking, he sucked in a breath that made him feel nauseous and gripped the wild dog's scruff between his teeth. With all the cuts and slashes, it would likely be painful--if the dog was even aware enough to still feel. A grunt signified he was ready for the body to be lowered.

"We're already late, dad," an adult Cappella chided, sounding more like a teenager than she ever had in that moment. "We're going to miss everything. Mother is already there and so is Kirja."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." The striped lion complained. He was starting to show his age in these recent times, threads of silver in the fur at his chin and around his ears. Still, for all that he was no 'spring chicken' anymore, he was certainly active - though occasionally forgetful. He'd gone out hunting and ended up being hunted himself - by his daughter no less! Still, what was done was done, and they really weren't that late.
"If you keep dancing like that, you'll have no energy left for when we arrive."
Cappella made a face but said no more, turning in the right direction and continuing on at a more controlled pace.
Aapep padded after her.
It wasn't until they came in sight of the others, however, that they realised that this celebration was turning out just a little different from normal.
Cappella gasped and even Aapep was brought up short, the sharp smell of wild dog's blood like a slap in the face.
"What has happened?" he asked, more to himself than anything - though surely loud enough to be heard by those closest.

((OOC Note: Since there are a lot of characters in the RP now, it can be a hassle to keep up with where everyone is. Due to this, please put where your character is at the top of your post. =]
Locations include:
Lake - Your character is helping clean the wild dog's wounds with those near the lake. God Gathering - Your character is with the two deities standing halfway between the lake gathering and the border gathering. Borders - Your character is behind the Gods and the closest to the borders of the pride.
If your character is elsewhere / somewhere more specific, just put there instead. I will edit the options accordingly as characters move around; if all characters leave the lake, I will drop the lake from the list, etc.
This RP will be wrapping up soon, so hurry to reply if you need 5 posts.
Next post in on Thursday at the latest. ))
Nantale [Near the lake, gathering the flower with Hanyu!]
Nantale hadn't the time nor the wits about her to notice Hanyu's act of obeisance. "Help me move this, please." The flower did keep disappearing behind the all the lush green. Every time she moved the grass, more strands fell back into place.
She called, "Can we get assistance from one of the baboons over here, please?" as she lacked the thumbs to safely harvest the delicate thing herself.
((Anyone can feel free to play a baboon to help with this. If not, I will use an NPC in my next post.))
Mwokoti [God gathering, speaking with Aapep and Cappella]
Mwokoti recognized the two approaching, branches from the Mawi family tree, and nodded to them as well. She told them, "There's been a breach of security," her tone too calm for something of this nature, as though this happened daily when in fact they hadn't witnessed violence like this for generations.
Ja [Lake, helping with the wild dog.]
Not without much assistance, Ja managed to get the wild dog into the shoal. The lake water made the poor thing twitch, but he didn't speak again; his eyes were open, but they were unseeing and hazy.
Two baboons had made their way over, a middle-aged male and his female mate, and were cupping water in their hands to help pour on specific places. "If this gets infected, just water won't help anything," the female said to everyone present.
((Anyone can feel free to play the male baboon. If not, he will be RPed by me in my next post.
Anyone can feel free to have the wild dog slip further into the water and need to help pull him out, or say he twitched, or something akin to that, but please be mindful of what everyone else is doing so he doesn't nearly drown more than once!))]

Csoa - Lake
The iron smell was now thick inside his nose. Csoa could feel his legs shake and his vision blurred slightly. He quickly dipped his muzzle into the water the moment the wild dog was released and breathed in a long breath he'd hoped would no longer have the animals scent. He was not so lucky.
"No," Csoa rasped out in response to Ndoto, vaguely aware of everything that was going on around him. Another breath later, and he was able to compose himself. He looked at Ndoto while the baboons carefully scrubbed. "Leaves are dirty." Shaking his head at nothing, he repeated what the female baboon had said, "Infection."
Hanyu - Near lake; by the flower
"Okay." Had Hanyu had any brainpower to marvel, he would have lost his wit again to infatuation. Even stressed, strained, and dealing with a rather incompetent hybrid, Nantele still had the good grace to say the word please.
Hanyu moved a paw, albeit slow, and pulled a few pieces of grass down. The action was by no means perfect, but the flower was slightly more exposed. Taking in a breath to stabilize himself, Hanyu moved another paw to push more grass down. Slowly but surely.
He was actually doing something. He wasn't messing up. Concentrate, Hanyu!

Lake -
Thickening tension put Goss on edge, and in turn it brought Ndidi's focus to the present. She had fallen silent, and eager, in their search; pausing only to reassure her hyena pride mate with a familiar gesture. A solid pat upon his shoulder-- Baboon see, baboon do. "We'll keep looking." Intensely. Like the tension, the smell of blood would gain in strength the closer they got to the wounded... and the otherwise.
Just as her sifting proved futile and her frustrations took on physical form, Nantale called. She'd alert Goss first, with a short trot to his side and a sharp tug at whatever bit of fur she could reach, before making her way to the lioness.
"Here, let me try..." The white baboons slowing gait brought her before the other female and above the flower, where she would stall only long enough to look both Nantale and Hanyu in the face.
She'd move back onto the heels of her feet while long, fleshy fingers wrung themselves together... A childhood habit. But then, as if the chatter all around her enforced a sense of urgency once more, Ndidi would reach down and gently cup the soil beneath the plant, removing it completely.
"Th-there?"

OOC: Apologies to everyone for the wait. I didn't realize the post date set was 4th of July weekend (in America, anyway), but!
This ORP is now over. You may post your characters returning to the pride or what have you. When I'm done with post / rolls, I will quote everyone.
arrow Nantale and those willing to assist will carry the wild dog back to the pride. It's safe to assume this will be the talk of the town where the Nchi are concerned. This will include Mwokoti, their "guardian" Goddess.
arrow The flower is, in fact, just a flower, and any mystical properties it had were exaggerated; however, your character is free to decide for themselves, based on their IC knowledge, which is true. (Please note the roll below especially!)
arrow The wild dog's condition will be determined by next roll, so if your character mentions / hears about it, please use the following roll in the next post.
