Holding his hand above his eyes just to see, he made out a device in the center that piqued his interest. Suddenly, he found his entrance sealed and felt a bit worried.
"Well, he did say shiny. Now what the hell is this suppose to be?" he looked at the mechanism.

Dan would soon find his question answered as the device lit up and sets of holes opened up across the walls. From inside of these holes would fire out Power Gem attacks, aimed to disorient and assault the trainer. Hopefully he would manage to find the wall out of here this time among all the flashing lights.

The sudden blast of light completely caught the trainer off guard. He surely would have been hit had his Gardevoir not come out and use Protect.
"Holy crap!...Nice save, thanks" he smiled at the psychic.
Clearly this gym leader was psychotic to build traps like these. Hopefully not all of them were like this. Taking the pickaxe, Dan drove it into the device, hoping it would shut it down. Then he'd begin searching the walls for an exit.

His blow to device would accomplish nothing. What did he think this was, a movie? The holes in the wall would stay open and the blasts of Power Gem would continue to flya cross the room, most of the concentrated along the wall sitting to Dan's left. Hmm, maybe he should try to dodge through and investigate. especially since the other walls looked to be solid.

Of course the destruction of the device did nothing. It couldn't have hurt to try at least. Returning his Gardevoir before she was hit, he would proceed to duck and weave through the beams. Most of them were going to the left so it was pretty easy to...wait... If all of them beams were going to the left, then he was keeping to the right. Perhaps-
"Screw this gym!" he shouted, throwing the pickaxe at the left wall.

The pick ax would collapse a section of the wall, allowing the next Gym trainer to peer into the room for Dan. "Hey, idiot! You kinda need to get past all that to get in here. Have fun." The distinctly female voice taunted Dan, retreating back into the room to give dan some distance to go flying through.

Have fun? HAVE FUN? What part of dodging lasers was fun? Sure, she probably didn't mean in the literal sense but he was just a little peeved to comprehend that at the moment. With a little bit of timing, he'd leap for the hole with beam nearly taking his head off. Dan quickly stood and exhaled that breath that was nearly his last.
"Okay...battle right? Then you tell me where the gym leader is, RIGHT?!" he growled just a little bit.

The girl would casually point towards the crack in the wall that sat on Dan's left, the room he had just run halfway around. "Well, I'll tell where he is now. He's in the room you just spent the better part of your time here running around. You have officially reached the Gym battle equivalent of the pity date. Congratulations." The woman deadpanned, calmly plucking a Pokeball out of her bag and throwing out on the battlefield. And Dan would find himself facing a different Fossil Pokemon. Flying in front of him would be an Aerodactyl, set to rip into whatever Pokemon he decided to send out.

No words. Dan had absolutely no words to describe how he felt. And that was probably because he felt nothing. There should have been rage there but it was gone. The trainer looked on with the straightest of poker faces as the girl sent out an Aerodactyl.
"Okay...I'll use Goliath this time!"
The giant was tossed out, colliding his rock fist together. It had been a while since he'd last used his Rhyperior in battle but they still very much in sync. His first attack was Rock Blast, the titan aiming his hand at the fossil and firing boulders from his palm.

The girl would push her glasses up her nose before giving a snide huff of her breath before she gave her own orders. "Aerodactyl, Iron Head. Break his skull open." She offhandedly told her Pokemon, quietly watching as the Fossil Pokemon would go flying towards the rock and the Rhyperior, breaking trough the rock with a grunt of effort that would signal some damage done before it went flying at the Rhyperior again.

Using Iron Head as a counterattack was a pretty good idea. Using a steel move to cleave through the barrage of rocks. But Dan had a counterattack of his own.
"No, break it's skull open! Hammer Arm!"
Goliath reeled his arm back and punched forward to greet the Aerodactyl.

The girl would give a bored snap of her fingers and proceeded to watch her Aerodactyl spin in a roll that managed to let it avoid a direct impact onto the Hammer Arm but sent it scraping its belly along the strong blow and kept the Iron Head on target to slam into the Rhyperior with greater intensity due to the spinning.

That however was a little less expected. Goliath was surprised when the flying rock easily evaded his punch. He winced in pain as the attack hit him low in the gut. But with it so close, it couldn't possibly evade their next attack.
"Grab its wings and use Stone Edge!"
The Rhyperior would reach out to grab a hold of those stony wings with a fierce grip. Small sharpened stones would surround the giant before darting toward the fossil.
