((Sorry this took so long and is so short))

Daugr drove forward with the rest at a signal, edging in close to the goddess - she could see the fear flashing in her eyes now - and grinned wickedly. She'd help show this pretender, help claim the glory. Some dim and distant part of her might wonder just what this seemingly innocent thing had done to deserve to die, but it was drowned out by the rush of her blood in her ears and the snarling mumbled threats of those closing in.

And then in a rush one of her own had latched onto the goddess' neck and it had begun. She jolted forward when the goddess tried to back away, swinging and swiping to keep her from fleeing.

Doxailol was not so lucky. She grinned darkly at the first drops of blood, but a wave of some nauseating disorientation crashed over her as she made to join the assault. She staggered, shaking her head to clear it. No! She was better than that! Better than them all! She had to learn how they would kill gods, find what information she needed, and help cull this weak feathered thing! Still though her ears rang with dazing sound, and she did not join that round of fighting.

Well the pride of lions certainly weren't going to waste their time! No sooner had they gotten into position that the attacks began. Very clever of them to distract their prey. The mere fact that their prey was a Goddess intrigued Koka quite a bit. Why would they feel the need to go after an immortal? What made them think they had a chance against the feathered being? At this point, Koka wasn't sure who she wanted to see win. The pride for simply being so gutsy or the Goddess because...well...she was a Goddess.

Using the grasses to try and stay hidden, Koka slinked forward carefully. She wanted to be as close as possible to see all the events clearly because if that Goddess died, it would be something to remember and she'd want to know all the details.

As she slipped closer though, she began to feel...strange...almost unsure of herself. It was an odd sensation for a lioness who was always so certain and confident. What was going on? Was this from the Goddess or something else? Should she keep going? No. No...she'd stay here and not move any closer. She was certainly close enough at this point.

Results of sneak attack:
Confused: Doxailol
Surrounding: Tesak, Muunokhoi, Daudr
Light attack: Furchtlos
Heavy attack: Gever
-----

Rokopelli was blinking at the hyena when it happened.

She felt the air shift first, then the sound of scuffing paws and the sense that something horrible was happening - or about to happen. The sky collapsed on her right wing (or at least that's what it seemed to her) and her eyes widened in shock, wrenching the bright appendage in against her body and feeling the sharp sting of pain lance down through her shoulder. She turned to face her attacker, stumbling on the weakened front leg and came face to face with the unfriendly faces of the Nergui. The gleaming eyes said all they needed to say.

She was in trouble.

"Panna, st--" but her words of warning were cut off as Gever came leaping at her throat, his teeth finding purchase between the links of the jeweled necklace draped there. Her scream of anguish was instantaneous, her wings beating frantically to try and free herself from her attacker and make her escape. "Help me," she shrieked, rolling her mismatched eyes back at Krieg and Gren. She opened her mouth to continue her plea, but even naive Rokopelli could tell that it would be for naught.

They were not her saviours. They were killers, too.

Her scream of pain bloomed with fury, her body twisting as she tried to free herself - perhaps doing more harm than good - and with a primal instinct rarely felt, the power that was so often dormant within her came to be.

"Get back!"

Her eyes flashed open and it seemed, perhaps, that they were suddenly ablaze.

Dice Roll Event - for everyone

Rokopelli uses 'Telekinesis'. Some characters may be physically shoved away from the goddess's position. The dice-roll will determine how affected your character is by the attack.

exclaim One of the accompanying Nergui hyenas has been thrown back and appears to be wounded.

exclaim Roll a 6-sided dice:
1-2: The force knocks you from your paws*
3-4: The force causes you to stumble*
5: Unaffected by the telekinetic blast and press the attack
6: Unaffected by the telekinetic blast you may choose to press the attack or to drag the injured hyena to safety.

*If your character rolled a heavy attack previously, rolling one of these numbers forces them to relinquish their attack.

exclaim Additional: if your character is an observer only, roll 1-3. If a 1 is rolled, your character is affected by 'confusion'.

Los spat out the colorful feathers before retreating a bit, letting the lion and goddess clash together. His heart was pounding with the thrill of the hunt and, although he hadn't tasted blood, the smell of it was thick in the air now. Gever had gone for the throat, and there was blood oozing out in rivers now. He was about to pounce again, but the goddess let out a wave of what he assumed was magic, the force taking the wind from him and rattling his bones.

He dug his paws into the ground, though, and held his ground, even as one of his sons was knocked back and away. He did care for his offspring, but he knew they were hardy creatures, and they knew this mission was important. If the adol was seriously injured, he'd remain there and wait for them to come to his aid. If he were hurt enough to no longer help, he'd stay away. It was as simple as that.

Krieg smirked as the goddess looked to her and Gren for help and, as realization dawned, she let out a cackle similar to that of her father's. Cold, ruthless, and hungry for blood and glory. The rest of the hunting party surrounded the bleeding goddess and the young hyena was eager to help out now that her original purpose had been fulfilled.

The wave of power ruffled her white mane, but otherwise she was unaffected by the blast. A familiar yelp made her turn her head, and she spotted her brother lying motionless for the time being a few bounds back. Narrowing her green eyes, she turned towards the goddess with a snarl on her face. No one hurt her siblings. With a vicious snarl she bounded forward, her jaws wide and ready to latch on to the already injured neck. While she was smaller than the lions, her jaws were made for crushing and packed more of a deadly punch than her feline counterparts.

User Image Now this was getting interesting. And appealing. The goddess had finally realized what the situation was. And Gever's bite - magnificent! Tesak was readying himself to spring forward when the winged lioness called out.

The next thing he knew, the young hyena was pushed by some force out of nowhere, that exerted even pressure in all the places exposed without any sensation of being actually touched. It was almost as confusing as the fact that he found himself lying on his back, staring up at the blue sky.

That was, unexpected. But, he bared his teeth in a savage grin, he did like prey that attempted to fight back. Tesak began to push his way back to his feet, looking around to see how well others had fared under the strange attack.

Muunokhoi made to take a step, not wanting to be left out of the action now that it had truly begin and Gever had the parasite by the throat. With the thrashing, it'd be likely she'd bleed out before too long. Pitiful creature. Was this all it had to offer them as a challenge? Was this supposed to be--

--an invisible force struck him across the chest, driving the wind from him and sending him staggering backwards.

Panting, his head came up, eyes narrowing dangerously. So, perhaps she was not so weak after all.

Behind him, some of the Nergui had been forced clear off of their feet, no easy task, that was for sure. His teeth clenched hard, a growl rumbling up from his chest. Perhaps they would get a decent fight and truly earn their glory.

---

And Muunokhoi was not the only one affected. Blinking rapidly, she staggered backwards a good few steps, ugly face creased with concern. Had they made a mistake attacking this way? Bunching up close? Above her the ravens were screaming. Some of the creatures were attacking one another now, sending feathers floating down on their heads.

But the seers had seen success. They had seen it.

User ImageIf the Goddess below had been any other creature, Raha would have said she was a goner. Several lions and hyenas surrounded her and one was choking the life out of her. Wow... But just as he thought the others would move on in and finish her off something happened and some of the attackers went flying. The Goddess must have done that, but he must have blinked because he couldn't see how. Strange things were happening... Raha circled to gain some height, but he couldn't look away from the grisly scene below.

Gever - 2: Knocked back

Gever tasted fur, blood, and the flavor of beads and rope for which he had no comparison. Whether the cringe-inducing noise was his teeth clanking together or shredding her trinket apart, he had yet to know. The force of Rokopelli's supernatural assault knocked him off his paws and away. He rolled just once, but roll he did.

Gable - 2 (Observer): Rolled here

Gable had managed to either keep out of reach or sustain some immunity to this invisible foe. He dropped to the ground, focusing on the chaos, assaying the situation and the damage done. The worst of it appeared to be suffered by one of the hyenas.

-Not rolling for effects for plot purposes. Just assuming Koka gets hit with confusion. Kimaria is aware. wink -

Lions were flying. Well, not literally flying, but they certainly were air born and being pushed away from the Goddess. Koka had thought for sure that the Goddess was done for what with one pride members teeth locked around her throat and others landing nasty hits on her, but the Goddess pulled a trick out her hat. Koka was slightly stunned. Would she ever admit that to anyone? Hardly. But the lioness was amazed by the power that the feathered being possessed. After all, Koka never really had a true meeting with a God. Visions? Yes. But nothing like this.

As the dark pelted lioness watched, transfixed in her spot something else hit her, and it wasn't anything that mesmerized her.

Before she knew what was happening, Koka was struck with an overbearing sensation of confusion and uncertainty. Her mind barely seemed to be focusing on what she was doing as her paws carried her quickly towards the battle. The winged markings on her back rippling with each stride she took. Was this some other trick? Had she, unknowingly, decided to join the fray? Was she running to protect the rainbow feathered Goddess? She had no idea.

All she knew was that she had left the safety of her watching place and jumped into the fray of battle.

Results of Rokopelli’s retaliation:
Knocked down: Tesak, Gever
Staggered: Furchtlos, Muunokhoi, Gren
Unaffected: Krieg

exclaim The hyena was not pulled to safety.

-----

Rokopelli’s moment of triumph came, loosing the lion’s jaws from her throat, giving her the respite she needed. Gasping desperately for air, her wings came open again. Flight had never been a natural thing for the little goddess, but the fear rushing through her veins had become a driving force. With Gever’s jaws gone from her neck, she took the opening and leapt upwards.

For a single moment she thought she was safe. Her hind paws left the ground and for the first time in this particular life, she felt the grace that other gods must feel upon taking to the air. And then the hyena, Krieg, was there and the slim opening she’d been granted snapped shut—as did the hyena’s jaws.

She was bowled backwards onto the dust, her hind legs coming up to kick at the dark canine’s underside, shoving hard. All around her she could sense anger and hunger and desire—except for one pinpoint of fear (that was not her own).

Panna.

Her head tipped backwards and from that angle she could see the python in the shadows, the shame and fear and grief coiled into a tight ball.

Stay hidden, Rokopelli begged silently, unable to talk through the pain.

With a deep growl, she shoved again, twisting and fighting back to her paws. When she stood again, the injuries on her neck wept onto the floor.

“Please,” she begged, her voice little more than a rasp. The necklace she had worn since the beginning of this life, links broken, dropped to the floor.

--

Gren, with widening eyes, called out in the Nergui tongue: “Be careful of the artefacts.” Would they lose their power if they were broken? Or would they still be useable? Gren did not know but she wasn’t willing to risk it. Failure, on her part, would be the end of her and she still had the desire to live.

Dice Roll Event – open only to those who have been RPing in this thread

Rokopelli is not in a good way. It’s time to finish what we started! Let the final assault begin!

exclaim Roll a 6-sided dice:

1: you are affected by ‘confusion’ and unable to attack.
2: you are struck by a confused raven (or two, or three…), distracting you from the main assault.
3: you are struck by the goddess as she fights for her life.
4: you deal 3 damage to Rokopelli.
5: you deal 4 damage to Rokopelli.
6: critical hit! You deal a huge 5 damage to Rokopelli.

exclaim Rules of attack
- During this final assault you may continue to roll the dice until Rokopelli’s HP reaches zero. However, please avoid double posting to allow others a chance to get in on the action. You do not have to wait for my response before rolling again but I will try to post reactions regularly.
- The lion/hyena who brings the goddess’s HP to zero may feel free to god-mode the killing blow.
- The attack phase is now limited to those who have actively taken part in the RP. Newcomers may, of course, observe at a distance.

Rokopelli's current HP: 15

User Image So the goddess still had fight in her. Tesak was glad to see it, but he was still intent on striking blows of his own. Especially since the winged lioness looked to be suffering. Gever's blow had clearly made an impression, and blood flecked the ground beneath the goddess.

The hyena grinned as he regained his feet. He couldn't wait to sink his own teeth, or claws, into her flesh...

The Nohoi was distracted and thrown off-balance as something about the size of his head struck him. It was...a bird? A raven. The hell was a raven doing, bouncing around the glory hunt!? He cursed it under his breath for distracting him at such a crucial moment.

Dealing 3 damage, Rokopelli's HP: 12

Los watched with pride as Krieg stopped the escape of the goddess, bringing her back to the ground. He couldn't wait for his turn to get his teeth into the flesh of that vile being again, but the warning was heeded as it was given. Don't destroy the artifacts. The trinkets the god wore were important to the Nergui, and Los didn't want to break any more than that necklace had been.

He charged forward as Rokopelli pleaded with them one last time. Don't worry, he thought to himself as he launched himself into the air, finishing his attack from before. Your life will end soon, your pain and fear will cease to be. Just hold still...

He landed on Rokopelli's wing once more, sinking his teeth into the feathery appendage once again. This time he got a better mouthful and chomped down as hard as he could, feeling some of the tender and fragile bones snap under his powerful teeth.

Dealing 4 damage, Rokopelli's HP: 8

Strong paws kicked at her belly and Krieg was tossed into the air. She didn't have the feline skill of twisting to land on her feet, but when she landed it wasn't painful. Her body was too hyped up on having caught the goddess and brought her back down. The warning call reached her ears and, as her father attacked from the side, she went for the front once again. Her smaller, but still powerful jaws honed in on the already bloody mess of Rokopelli's throat, tearing into the wound. She didn't want to go for the paws for concern of the artifacts on her paws.

A satisfied snarl left her as she felt more hot blood spurt from the wound, her face and mane covered in the red liquid. It fuled her desire for more, for blood, for death, for glory. She gave her head a violent shake as she pulled away, taking some of the god flesh with her in the process.

((Sorry I missed the last round too. If I can't roll this round let me know and I'll blank this post. :I Giving Dox the 4 this time juut so she gets SOME action.))

3: Hit by the goddess in her struggles!
Daudr could wait no longer, and dove into the fray - dove blindly, some might say - and happened to catch a wild blow from the downed goddess. She might be about to breathe her last, but death throes were not to be taken lightly, as the overeager lioness found out. A wild kick caught her square in the chest, knocking her back and winding her, making her gasp and wheeze ineffectively.

4: Do 3 damage to the goddess - Roko's remaining RP: 1!
Doxailol finally shook herself free of the confusion that'd kept her subdued. To her fury, the goddess was already down, dripping her own blood. No. No. She would NOT let this fight end without her own pound of sacred flesh! The purple seer slid forward like a serpent through the grass, darting into an opening and meeting the goddess' eyes with a horrible knowing look. She tore at her head then, ripping tufts of fur and beads free despite the warnings of the others. What had she to fear of god artifacts?
