Once he retreated to a safe distance, Fili sat down in the snow, eager to ease the ache in his leg. It wasn't easy living with a gimpy hind leg in a place like this, but he wouldn't leave it unless an avalanche brought down the whole mountain. The pelt on his back was warm, which was good, and he tugged it off to see if there would be enough fur to wrap around all four paws. Cyne fluttered down beside him to help, chirping softly from time to time in excitement as they measured and decided what would go where. There was a bit of scrap that would be left over - the tail and the legs - that would make a rather nice scarf, or perhaps go to her bedding. She was always on the lookout for things to make her nest warmer. There was little better than a warm, snugly bed at the end of a cold day. Lawine, watching the distribution of the pelts, was quite surprised when a familiar hare hopped into view. He blinked, then turned to find another of his pride had followed him here. Oh dear...he had thought he was being sneaky in leaving. That was the problem with trying to be a jack of all trades...you could learn them all but master none. He shifted from Furiza's side for a moment to herd the lioness towards them, not wanting her to get hurt. They already had enough glares in their direction, but now that there was another lion in their presence they were starting to get agitated. "Funny seeing you here, Eirwen," he said with a friendly smile. "Come join us over here...this pride is not overtly fond of lions. I've made contact with their queen, though, and she at least seems tolerant of us. Stay with me and you'll be fine." Pacha, on the other hand, hopped excitedly over to Karli, her nose and ears quivering with delight. "Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only hare anymore," she said, her tail shaking in delight. "They keep avians for familiars here, and from the look of things there's some hare pelts in that large pile over there, so please don't go wandering."

Lyubov was... Only a little anxious at the lions near the queen. She was just pleased they didn't appear to be hostile in nature. She didn't have the need to hold her breath seeing them, or pin her ears back and slink away in fear. No, these lions seemed harmless. Well, not completely harmless of course, but not intent on causing harm to anyone within the area. In fact, from the glares and wary eyes she was almost beginning to fear for the visitors safety and not the general public's!
She watched carefully and wore a smile as she awaited for the next person to step up for a pelt to be bestowed upon them.
---
Tesbel however was not so kindly. He gazed directly at the strangers, with a frown shading his deep red eyes. Sure, the lions had yet to cause trouble but he wasn't willing or ready to pass off their kindness as just that. Perhaps they wished to get close to the queen for some malicious reason. Perhaps not.
Regardless, Tesbel moved from his little ledge and moved closer to growing crowd and everyone in it. How curious, he looked. These strange lions kept hares with them. He remembered how he had hunted these last few days quite a bit of those for this very event...

Furiza remained cuddled up with Lawine, just watching as the animals around them got their pelts. It was just such a lovely, giving sort of festival. She really enjoyed it. but she knew it wasn't her place to get involved, and she really wasn't looking to, either. it was more fun to watch others giving things to one another. Anyway, she was so used to the cold that she hardly had any use for a pelt. It warmed her heart to see them caring for one another. Maybe it was just because she had been in the rogue lands so long, on her own, that she was still getting used to grand shows of kindness. When the other lioness joined them, Furiza was surprised. She instinctively leaned a little more against Lawine, watching the female carefully. She had seen her in the pride before, but she was still not brave enough to talk to most of the other pride members. Her eyes fell to the snow, and she nodded a meek greeting after Lawine. "Hello.... Eirwen," she offered softly. "Just Chandra it is, then," chuckled Raama, "it's a lovely name." He certainly felt that it was a matching name. Pretty, just like she was. Though he felt saying something like that might merit a bit more on the cheese side of things than he was currently trying to go. He wanted her to think he was cool and suave, not a nerdy leopard. "Oh, I'm a Prowler!" hummed the leopard proudly, "I love to go out and bring back food for the pride! And I hope what I bring back helps with the pride, too. Sometimes you got to worry that the meat you bring back isn't quite good enough to be eaten. How embarrassing would that be?" He took a lot of joy in knowing he was a prowler, though he knew it was not one of the high ranks in the pride. To him, it was still very important. He looked up at the queen continued to pass out the furs, clicking his teeth thoughtfully. "I think I'd like it more if you gave me one," he said with a grin.

More lions. Oh how her father would have scolded her for even speaking to one, but times were changing and the queen thought them to be good times. While they seemed not on a diplomatic mission, perhaps this could open new relations with this lion pride that Lawine was from. There was hope and that hope turned Elisheba's mouth into a smile.
The pile was thinning, a majority of the pelts were given away by this point, but there were still some of the larger ones to be seen behind her and inside of the cave. Those would be given out at a later time on the same day. Whoever was left without a skin upon their back would likely have to approach now or receive one later when they got the fur for lining the floor of their den.
One such member of the colony who had yet to receive one was Eduard.Bitter and cold, Eduard approached his older sister with what could almost be read as hatred in his eyes. His fur was much darker than hers and his gait far less elegant that her even sitting there. Clenching his jaw, the lord's teeth ground together. The air around the two siblings was already tense enough, enough so that others could likely see that there were unresolved issues between the two of them.
"Sister." He finally addressed her, not as queen, but as his own blood.
"Eduard." Keeping her head high and her eyes turned downward, Elisheba kept her attention on him. "Have you come for a pelt as well?"
"No. I would sooner throw myself to the lions than accept a gift from the usurper." For all of the grace and sophistication that Eduard had been taught in his youth, a majority of it failed him at that moment as he snarled back towards his sister. Without interference up until that point, the lord's muscles tensed and before anyone else could react, he had pounced upon the queen, screaming;
"I should have been king! You stole my throne!"
Hisses and roars filled the ledge as the two tumbled together in what remained of the fur pile for only seconds before the captain and the surrounding ladies-in-waiting reacted. While Noir was the quickest of the group to react, her older body meant she was only able to push herself between the two royals enough to break them apart, leaving Barafu-taji open to pulling the traitorous lord away from the monarch by the scruff of his neck. Onto the cold, snowy ground Eduard was pushed and held down with the brute strength of Barafu-taji's forelegs.
"What wou-" As the captain's head turned mid-sentence to look from Eduard to the queen, his words fell right out of his mouth. Elisheba lied in a heap, surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting, with Noir mouthing something to her. The guards had failed at one of their primary duties, but none could have suspected treachery from inside the royal family. Surely others knew of Eduard's displeasure of his sister's rise to the throne, but none openly spoke of it in public, not even Elisheba. Watching with concern, he looked on as Elisheba was taken into the council's cavern with the aid of her ladies.
There was no grace or elegance in the way the queen hobbled away, but no one certainly expected it now.[OOC]
Welcome to the start of the Mlima's first meta~!
No roll for this post. Members may react to this post, talk among themselves about it, whatever you feel like doing so long as it doesn't change the outcome of this post (Elisheba getting hurt, Barafu holding Eduard on the ground) but for the most part only Barafu-taji and maybe Eduard will be interactable on my part. I will be doing my final post in a few days.
There will also be an announcement summarizing this entire ORP as well as some brand new prompts based around the events that occurred in it that people will be able to use towards a point system I will be implementing some time soon.
Quotes in spoiler.

Everything happened so quickly no one really had time to react, not even the guards, Cyne heard the commotion and flew up to get a better view of what was happening, her heart pounding in her tiny chest as she realized that the queen's own brother had just attacked her. Once the guards had everything under control, she swooped down, screeching at the dark leopard.
"Traitor!" she cawed, her adrenaline getting the better of her as it always did. She stood by the idea that, had she been born a feline, she would have made a wonderful guard. There was a fire in her that burned passionately for her pride and those within it, and she'd be the first to dive bomb any that wished to harm anyone. The Captain of the guard was making that a bit hard, though, so she finally circled back to settle on Fili's shoulders.
Fili had heard the commotion as well but, since he was far away, hadn't seen what had happened. Cyne quickly filled him in, his eyes narrowing in distaste. Here they were with lions among them and Eduard was acting like a cub? For shame. He moved a bit closer, frowning as he saw Elisheba helped into the dens. Oh dear...
The noise startled Pacha, making her dive quickly away from the other hare and between Lawine's legs. Her whole body trembled at the fierce snarls and the sudden movement of the guards, but none of them came over to their little group. Instead, they all ran in the direction of the queen.
"What's going on?" she asked, her voice frantic, her hind leg twitching, ready to stamp out the alarm for danger. She did everything in her power not to, though, not wanting to draw attention to them and have them think they were in cahoots with whoever had just acted out of turn.
Lawine, tall enough to see what had happened, took one step forward in alarm as if to help. He froze quickly, though, realizing that might set the entire pride upon him and the two lionesses with him. He swallowed thickly and watched as the leopards that acted as guards subdued the leopard who had attacked the queen, the queen herself still laying on the ground.
"Oh dear," he murmured quietly, looking back at the male now pinned to the ground. He had a similar coat to the queen...perhaps they were related? He wasn't sure if he should stick around to help, head home, or send Furiza and Eirwen back to the borders of the pride. He didn't want the cheetahs and leopards to turn their frustrations on them. Still...perhaps they could help. Time would tell, he was sure, so he waited in silence for whatever was going to occur.

one minute, a lovely festival had been going on, and the next there was growling and yelling and even blood in the air! Furiza didn't know what had happened, as she had been spending a lot of her time looking at the snow beneath her paws, but she knew it couldn't have been good.
Suddenly, the leopards were all over the place, some pinning down some kind of an attacker while the others had moved over to help the queen, who looked to be injured.
"Oh no!" She gasped weakly, sinking back against Lawine and hiding her face in his fur. She didn't like fights- she did everything she could to avoid them. It was good the male was there with her, as she needed him for the comfort. The poor queen! She hoped the leopardess was alright! Though she didn't want to see the attacker killed, either.
---
"Whoa!" Gasped Raama, watching in shock and horror as the enraged lord leaped at the queen. He didn't really get what the male was screaming about, what with the tyrant talk and all, but he didn't care, either! That was their queen he was attacking! Weren't those two related?! To turn on your own family like that- he couldn't believe such a thing.
Flirting with the ladies was going to have to wait for the time being. Suddenly he found himself overwhelmed with real emotions. Worry, anger, confusion- it all swelled up inside of him, producing a very unsavory feeling in the pit of his stomach.
he wished he hadn't just seen the queen get attacked.
"Kill the b*****d!" He snarled, though he knew that wasn't likely going to happen. He was just so angry about it! Why shouldn't someone who attacked right out of the blue like that be punished for it? Didn't matter who he was!

All this time he had been fretting over the lions. Tesbel hadn't even considered or felt the possibility of his own pride mates being the ones to potentially attack the queen. He didn't particularly care for if she was alright or not, for Tesbel lacked care for anybody save himself; but he was guard! His job was to anticipate such things happening!
The worst perhaps, was his unwillingness or delay in reacting. He had stood and watched as Eduard attacked his sister. He had been so starstruck for that moment that Tesbel had ceased to move a single muscle in his body. The lord had just attacked the queen. Happy festival thoughts were gone, poof, just like that. It was only when Barafu-taji had dragged and pinned Eduard down that a snarl formed on his lips. "Traitor!" He hissed.
---
Noir had been first to react. Lyubov had done so after her. Although her reaction to the whole scenario wasn't nearly as... Helpful as she wished it could have been.
Somewhere in her body the cheetah possessed the ability to scream and let out a little squeak of cry while she leap over to where Elisheba lay. "You're Majesty!" She cried and went to her side as fast as she could. She failed to believe that had really just happened. That- that her brother of all individuals would attack her! Granted from what Lyubov had gathered he hadn't been pleased with her taking the crown; but had that really been reason to- to do this?!
She gently nudged her queen as Noir whispered something that Lyu hadn't quite heard. She then was pleased to act at least partly as an aid in escorting her inside.
She would be okay, wouldn't she?

It was good to be around those who cared for her, but somehow Elisheba believed she had brought this upon herself. The word 'traitor' reached her ears. She had been ruthless in claiming the throne from Eduard, who in all respects, was the true heir to the throne, a title given to him by their father. Truthfully, she was the traitor, but Eduard was small, sickly and shared their womanizing father's tenancy to bed far too many women. In her eyes, he had been unfit to rule and so she stole the throne with a pawful of supporters behind her. Was she wrong to put the interests of the colony first?
Returning the affectionate gestures that her ladies gave her, the queen retired chambers with Noir curled up close to her. Right now, she just needed rest.
"Lyubov," The head lady called out, her voice hushed as the queen had already slipped off to sleep. "Retrieve Junius and a scholar. We may need their aid should there be any longstanding injuries to her majesty."
Outside though, Barafu-taji, along with a few other guards, pulled the lord to his feet. "It'll be up to the queen to decide what to do with you." He growled under his breath while worry flooded his mind. While he wanted to join the others in chanting 'traitor', he knew Eduard's motive, at least some of them. With Elisheba out of the way, he would have become king with no problem. Only his attempt failed and now he was on his way towards the guard's den towards the bottom of Umsindisi, with an escort no less.
Giving out the rest of the skins would have to wait.
[OOC]
And so ends the first ORP for the Mlima Tuokoa.
Thank you all for participating! I'll be adding the second prize and rolling the two winners here soon, but after I get some sleep and make the list.
Feel free to continue posting (reacting to what has happened of course) and if you haven't reached 5 posts and want to or if you just want to keep RPing, please try to do it ASAP. No posts after this one will count towards the raffle though.
There will be a sign-up for the next phase some time soon and concept contests for some major players in the meta. BUT! I have other shop-stuff I need to take care of first~

Mythrandir had been so distracted worrying over the foreign lions, he never expected an attack from one of their own on their lovely queen... He was shocked and enraged, furr raised along his spine and tail as he paced around the circle of leopards pinning down Eduard.
True. Eduard had been the rightful heir, but he wasn't what the pride needed in a leader. And this just proved it. Mythrandir had always looked down on Eduard, so his support of Elisheba was unquestionable.
His furr and pacing settled when he saw the queen go off to her chambers to recover, but there was a hard look still on his face as Eduard was helped back to his feet, and the baring of teeth with a hiss.
Traitor.
